Lakers’ Bronny James gets brutal reality check from former top pick

Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, is under fire from former top pick Kwame Brown after a recent play against the Portland Trail Blazers. The 20-year-old Lakers rookie was harshly criticized for his defensive shortcomings, with Brown labeling him "soft" and comparing him to Charmin toilet paper.

Brown's scathing remarks came in response to Bronny's inability to establish himself on defense during the game. In one instance, Brown claimed that Bronny was in a great position to take a charge but instead slid out of the way of contact, allowing the opposing player an easy path to the basket.

The former Lakers player also mocked Bronny's father and made remarks as if he were having a father-son chat, saying "Mind the game. This is how you mind the game." Brown also implied that LeBron was coaching his son to avoid contact, stating "Don't get hurt. Get that money, boy."

Despite being without some of its top players, including LeBron James and Luka Doncic, the Lakers fell to the Blazers at home 122-108. Bronny played 20 minutes off the bench but finished with no points after missing both shots he took.

Kwame Brown's criticism has sparked debate about whether Bronny is truly ready for the NBA. The former No. 1 overall pick himself was a major bust in his playing career, and many are eager to see if his son will be able to avoid similar struggles.

Bronny will get another chance to impress when he faces off against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, but with criticism like this coming from someone who knows what it takes to make it in the league, he'll have a lot of pressure on his shoulders.

Bronny's defense needs work lol 🤦‍♂️... I drew a simple diagram to show how Bronny should've taken that charge pic:

It's like, easy to see what went wrong. He needs to learn how to be physical without being reckless 🤝. And yeah, Kwame Brown's comments were harsh, but he's right - Bronny did look soft at times... The question is, can Bronny and the Lakers turn things around? They've got some tough road ahead of them, especially with LeBron on the sidelines 🚨.

Bronny's got some 'splainin' to do after that game 🤔💦. Kwame Brown might've gone too far with those harsh comments, but you can't deny the truth - Bronny looked kinda soft on D 😳. I'm all for the youngblood trying to prove himself, but maybe it's time he buckles down a notch? 🤷‍♂️ His dad's coaching is always gonna be under scrutiny, and now Kwame's adding fuel to the fire 🔥. That being said, Bronny still needs to show us what he's got - can he turn those critics around? 🔄 The Timberwolves game is gonna be a huge test for him... 💪

OMG, Bronny's defense is literally WIPED OUT 🤦‍♂️! Kwame Brown was brutal but honestly, those vids of Bronny sliding out of the way were CRINGE 😳. And can we talk about how low-key savage Brown was? Like, I get it, he wants to see Bronny improve, but dissing him like that? Not cool 🤷‍♂️.

Stats are on Kwame's side tho 📊:

* Bronny: 0/2 FG, -3 (+/-)
* Kwame Brown (in his playing career): 38.6% FG, 2.8 RPG

Let's see how Bronny responds to this criticism 👀. Will he come out firing on Wednesday? ⚡️ The stats are in, and it looks like Bronny needs to step up his defense 🔄.

Here's a fun fact: did you know that Kwame Brown was drafted 1st overall in the 2001 NBA draft and has a career record of 5-47 as a head coach? 🤯 Yeah, it's safe to say he knows what it takes to fail 🚮.

OMG u guys 🤯, Kwame Brown is at it again lol! I mean I feel Bronny and all but come on, comparing him to Charmin toilet paper? That's low, even for someone who was known for being trash in the league 😂. My dude, if you can't give constructive criticism, then why even bother? It's gonna be a tough game for Bronny coming up against the Timberwolves, but I got faith in him 🤞, and if he proves himself, all these haters will be eating their words 🍴. Can we please just see some growth from Bronny on D tho? It's been pretty rough so far 😔.

I think Kwame Brown's harsh comments towards Bronny James are way outta line 😒. I mean, come on, Charmin toilet paper? That was just a low blow. Bronny's defense wasn't great, but that doesn't mean he's soft or a bust like his dad was when he came in 🙅‍♂️. Brown should've kept it to himself instead of making personal shots at Bronny and LeBron. Bronny needs to develop his skills, I get it, but criticism from someone who's been there done that shouldn't be so brutal 💔. And what's with the "mind the game" comment? It sounds like Brown's trying to take a jab at Bronny's dad more than making a legitimate point 🤷‍♂️.

OMG, Bronny is gonna be roasted by everyone now! 😂 I'm low-key worried about him though... Kwame's harsh words are not fair at all, but at the same time, Bronny did kinda get exposed in that game 🤔. The thing is, his dad is a total legend and the bar is super high for him, you feel? LeBron has this intense focus and competitive drive that's hard to replicate... I'm curious to see how Bronny handles the pressure now 😬. Will he step up and prove all the haters wrong or will Kwame's words get in his head 🤯? Wednesday can't come soon enough for me! 💪

I gotta say, Kwame Brown's beef with Bronny James is whack 🤦‍♂️. I get that Bronny had some rough moments on defense, but come on, comparing him to Charmin toilet paper? That's just low, fam 😂. And what's with the shade towards LeBron James? Like, grow up, Kwame! Your dad played for you, now it's time to support his kid. And btw, those "mind the game" burns? 💁‍♂️ More like "mind your mouth", Kwame!

Bronny's still young and figuring things out in the league, but with criticism like this from someone who was a major bust himself, I think Bronny needs some extra support right now. Like, can't we just give him some love instead of raining on his parade? 🤝

I don't know about all these harsh words from Kwame Brown 😒... I mean, the guy was a bust himself, so why bring Bronny down like that? 🤔 It's just gonna put more pressure on Bronny to perform under the spotlight. And honestly, 20 minutes and no points ain't bad for a rookie 👍 But it's not all about personal achievements, we gotta think about how it affects Bronny's mental game and confidence 😬... LeBron's gotta be like a coach, mentor, and father figure at the same time 🤝 Let's give Bronny some space to grow and develop his skills without all this extra stress 💪

I feel bad for Bronny 🤕 - being called "soft" and compared to Charmin toilet paper is harsh 😳. Kwame Brown's comments might be tough to take, but at least he's speaking from experience. His playing career was rough, and I'm sure it's hard for him to see his son going through similar struggles. The pressure on Bronny will be real ⚡️, but I think he needs to focus on his own game rather than worrying about what others say 🙏. Can't we just support our young athletes and let them figure things out for themselves? 💪

🤔🏀 I'm not sure if Bronny's dad is doing more harm than good though 🤷‍♂️. All those YouTube vids of him playing are so... scripted 😒. Anyone can run up and down the court, but can he really take a hit? 🤦‍♂️ And what's with all these comparisons to Kwame Brown? Dude was trash for like 5 seasons and then just disappeared 🚮. Bronny might need to find his own style instead of relying on his fam's legacy 👑.

U r kidding me with Kwame Brown's shade 🤣👀. Bronny's dad is literally the GOAT and the kid's got skills, but I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks 💡. Kwame's just mad 'cause he's a bust and Bronny's got all the hype 🤦‍♂️. The fact that he made jokes about LeBron's coaching style is lowkey genius though 😏. Bronny's gotta handle himself, but at least he's getting ready for the spotlight 🔊. And btw, Charmin toilet paper? LOL what a diss 😂!

ugh i feel so bad for bronny 🤕 he's already facing so much pressure just because of who his dad is, and kwame brown's harsh words aren't helping matters at all... like, can you imagine being 20 years old and having someone compare your game to toilet paper? 😩 it's too much stress, you know? Bronny needs some support and time to grow into his role on the team. he's still got a lot to learn, but it's okay if he makes mistakes - that's how we improve 🤗

I feel bad for Bronny 🤕, he's still super young and gotta learn. Kwame Brown might've had some harsh words, but at least he's speaking from experience 💪. Bronny needs to focus on his defense and not get too caught up in the scoring game. I mean, it's cool that he wants to help out and make a name for himself, but if he can't even establish himself on D 🤦‍♂️... it's gonna be tough for him to stick around.

Bronny's gotta have faith in his own abilities and not get discouraged by the criticism 😌. His dad LeBron is one of the greatest for a reason, and maybe Bronny can learn a thing or two from him 👊. The pressure's on, but I got faith that Bronny'll bounce back strong 💪.
