I'm not convinced that this study really means we need to start taking hour-long walks every day... I mean, think about it - 80% less likely to die from any cause? That sounds like a pretty big claim. What if those longer walks just happen to coincide with a good Netflix binge or a relaxing afternoon in the park? We shouldn't assume that's the actual reason behind the benefits.
And have you seen the shoes they're wearing in those pics? All fancy and expensive... I'm no expert, but isn't that just going to be an added expense on top of all the other things we need to shell out for?
Plus, what about those short walks that are supposed to be so good for us? 5-10 minutes a day? That's not exactly a lot of exercise if you ask me. I'd rather get my heart rate up and sweat a bit than just dashing around the block.
