Aldi planning a South Loop location, records show

Aldi is set to expand its presence in Chicago's South Loop, as a permit has been issued for a new location at the Roosevelt Collection retail complex. The German-based grocery chain plans to renovate and retrofit the existing space, which will be part of an open-air mall on 150 W. Roosevelt Road.

As part of this expansion, Aldi is expected to bring its unique shopping experience to the area, with plans to offer quicker, easier, and more affordable options for customers. The company's CEO, Jason Hart, has stated that Aldi aims to become America's first stop for groceries, as it continues to grow its nationwide presence.

Aldi is on track to meet its goal of opening 800 new stores across the country by the end of 2028, with nearly 120 locations opened in 2024. The company currently operates 32 locations throughout Chicago and has announced plans to open several more stores in the coming years, including a River North location set for November and a West Loop store expected to open in 2026.

The new Aldi location is part of the Roosevelt Collection's ongoing developments, which include the recent opening of an AMC Roosevelt 16 movie theater. Other retailers and restaurants at the complex include H&M, The X Pot, and Old Navy.

omg u guys! i just saw this news about aldis expanding into the south loop and i am SO down ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ›๏ธ i mean who doesn't love saving $$$ on groceries? they're really pushing to become america's 1 stop shop for groceries which is kinda genius tbh. and can we talk about how amazing it is that they're bringing their unique shopping experience to the area? quicker, easier, and more affordable options sound like a total game changer! i'm def planning to check this new location out when it opens ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Just thinkin' about this news ๐Ÿคฏ! Aldi expanding in Chicago's South Loop is gonna be a total game changer for that area! I mean, who doesn't love gettin' affordable groceries without breakin' the bank? ๐Ÿค‘ And with their unique shopping experience, people are gonna flock to that new location. I'm curious, what makes them think they can become America's first stop for groceries? Are they really gonna disrupt the grocery game like that? Either way, more Aldi stores = happy consumers! ๐Ÿ‘

just saw this news ๐Ÿค” about aldil expanding in south loop! think its gonna be sick to have more affordable options for groceries in chicago ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ‘Œ also heard they're planning to renovate the space which will fit right in with all the other cool shops and restaurants in the complex ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿฟ hope it brings some life to that area since river north is already doing great ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ™๏ธ 800 new stores by 2028? thats wild can't wait to try out aldil myself soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

idk why ppl r hyped about aldis comin to chicago... its like every other store they got everywhere else in the US already lol ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean dont get me wrong, i love a good discount as much as the next person but it feels like aldis is just replicatin what's already out there. and what about all the weird stuff ppl say about how good their shopping expirience is? its just a low rent store with cheap prices... sounds like a whole lotta trouble to me ๐Ÿคช

๐Ÿค” I'm not buying it... like, what's really going on here? This Aldi expansion in Chicago's South Loop just seems too convenient. Have you seen the Roosevelt Collection's plans for this area? It's like a master plan to create a retail hub that'll cater to big corporations like AMC and H&M. And now Aldi comes along and suddenly it's America's first stop for groceries? ๐Ÿค‘ I'm not saying they're bad, but something about this expansion just doesn't add up... maybe there's more to Jason Hart's statement than meets the eye? Maybe he's using this as a ploy to gain control over our grocery shopping experience? ๐Ÿ˜ณ Just think about it, Aldi's going to be everywhere soon... ๐Ÿš€

OMG, like I'm so down for this new Aldi spot in Chicago's South Loop! ๐Ÿคฉ I've been to their stores before and I love how affordable and efficient they are - it's like shopping on a budget, no cap! ๐Ÿ˜‚ They're really changing the game with their quick shopping experience, and I'm all about that convenience. I hope they can bring some of that same magic to this new location at the Roosevelt Collection. And can you imagine having an AMC movie theater right next door? ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘€ That's like a dream come true for me! I'll def be checking out their store when it opens - I'm already planning my shopping list ๐Ÿ˜‚. Bring on more Aldi love to Chicago! ๐Ÿ’–

omg i'm so stoked about this ๐Ÿคฉ Aldi's been a total game changer for me when it comes to saving cash on groceries u can get some really good deals there and they're always restocking new stuff so its like shopping at an actual store but cheaper lol ๐Ÿค‘ idk what's going on with the south loop tho is it gonna be busy? i hope they don't skimp on the parking cuz that'll be a major bummer ๐Ÿ˜’ anyway cant wait to check out this new location tho ๐Ÿ’–

omg u guys i just heard that aldis getting into chicago south loop ๐Ÿคฏ its gonna be a game changer for the area! Aldi always brings that affordable & efficient vibe to their stores and i think it's gonna attract tons of new customers to the neighborhood 800 new stores by 2028 is a crazy ambitious goal but idk if they can do it lol. anyway, excited to try out this new aldis location when its open! ๐Ÿด

omg can't believe aldรญ is coming to south loop ๐Ÿคฏ been waiting for this forever! i mean what's not to love about saving money on groceries while shopping in style? ๐Ÿ›๏ธ i've heard their store layouts are so efficient it's like a puzzle to navigate ๐Ÿงฉ and the prices are always super competitive. anyway, since they're expanding here, maybe we can get some new faves from germany ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช... or just some more awesome deals on avocados ๐Ÿฅ‘ i'm hyped for this!

omg u guys im literally hyped about this ๐Ÿคฉ aldi expanding in chicago south loop is like music to my ears i mean who doesnt love saving $$$ on groceries? Jason Hart's goal of america's first stop for groceries sounds legit too i think its time we have more affordable options for people who cant afford fancy supermarkets i also gotta say id love to try out their quicker shopping experience ๐Ÿ›๏ธ im a fan of aldi already but this new location is gonna take it to the next level

omg this is sick! i'm all about affordable grocery options ๐Ÿคฏ and Aldi is always on point with those prices ๐Ÿ’ธ they're making it so easy for ppl to shop smart and not get ripped off ๐Ÿค‘ i love that they're expanding into new areas like chicago's south loop, more people need access to good groceries ๐Ÿ˜Š can't wait to see what other innovative things they come up with in 2028 ๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿคฃ can you imagine walking into a crowded South Loop mall just to buy some cheap booze from Aldi ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ‘€ anyway, I guess it's nice that they're trying to bring their unique shopping experience to Chicago. like who doesn't love wandering around a disorganized store filled with rows of identical products? ๐Ÿ˜‚ and 800 new stores by 2028 sounds pretty aggressive...like they're trying to single-handedly keep the US economy from imploding ๐Ÿค‘

omg Aldi finally coming to Chicago? like we've been waiting for like forever ๐Ÿคฃ idk what's more exciting, their cheap prices or their super efficient shopping experience ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway, i'm all for it. who doesn't love the thrill of finding a decent vegan option at 3am? ๐Ÿฅ—๐ŸŒ™ but seriously, 800 new stores by 2028? that's like, ambitious ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, we need more affordable groceries in this city stat! and btw, river north store is coming soon? ๐ŸŽ‰ can't wait to see what they do with the old Aldi building ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ‘€

omg can't believe aldรญ is finally coming to chicago south loop i've been waiting for ages ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ›๏ธ this new location is going to be huge they're really trying to change the grocery game in america by making it more affordable and convenient for us customers ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿšช just imagine being able to grab everything you need in one stop, no need to drive all around town ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway can't wait to check out their new store and try some of those famous aldรญ snacks ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Ugh, I don't know about this one... ๐Ÿค” I mean, Aldi's already got a pretty cool vibe going on with their no-frills shopping experience, but adding more of that to Chicago's South Loop? It just seems like another chain store sucking up space in the city. ๐Ÿšฎ And I'm not sure what's so appealing about "quicker, easier, and more affordable" grocery shopping... where's the charm in that? ๐Ÿ˜ Plus, I'm worried they're gonna lose some of the character that makes South Loop so awesome in the first place. Like, do we really need another open-air mall with a giant Aldi taking up space that could've been used for something more unique or local? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
