Bears to promote Press Taylor to offensive coordinator to replace Declan Doyle: source

Bears Promote Passer to OC Role to Replace Doles, Says Coach Johnson.

Bears coach Ben Johnson has decided to retain the services of passing game coordinator Press Taylor as the new offensive coordinator after his predecessor Declan Doyle left for the Ravens just a little while ago.

The Bears have a relatively simple situation when it comes to changing coordinators, since they use an existing system and he is their play-caller. This will prevent any major disruption in the team's offense.

Taylor, who was the Jaguars' coordinator from 2022-24 before joining Johnson's staff, won a Super Bowl with the Eagles as assistant quarterbacks coach in 2017. When asked about his experience working with quarterback Caleb Williams and what role Taylor plays on game days, he replied that his job is to feed information to coaches.

Taylor has been with the Bears since last season and worked alongside Doyle and Johnson to fine-tune the team's offense. The new OC will be able to pick up where Doyle left off and get back into a routine right away.

The Bears are not expected to need any significant changes in their offense, given that Taylor is well-versed in the system and Johnson oversees everything from play-calling to personnel decisions.

Taylor began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tulsa before becoming an assistant coach for the Eagles under coaches Chip Kelly and Doug Pederson. He has extensive experience working with quarterbacks, having led the team's offense since 2018.

The Bengals are coached by Taylor’s older brother Zac.

Ugh, just great news for QBs everywhere... 😩 Caleb Williams' old coach is now OC at the Bears and it sounds like he's gonna be a feeder system expert 🀯 Just what we need more information to tell coaches what to do. And to make matters worse, the Bengals are getting a new coach with a Taylor pedigree - talk about nepotism πŸ™„

ugh, great, another passing game coordinator who thinks they're a genius πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Press Taylor's been here for like last season, what did he do there that was so impressive? and now the Bears just hand him the OC job without even bothering to have an interview process? classic move, I'm sure it'll all fall apart soon πŸ˜’.

and what's with the system being simple? does anyone really think that's a good thing? at least if they made some changes, we'd know they were trying. now we just get more of the same old, same old 🀯. Caleb Williams is probably gonna have another mediocre season because of this move...

I don't get why they had to change OCs in the first place πŸ€”... Declan Doyle just left for the Ravens and now it's all about Press Taylor taking over, seems pretty convenient for the Bears ⏱️ I mean, Taylor was already working with Doyle and Johnson last season, so it's like he was meant to be the new OC from the start πŸ™Œ Coach Johnson knows what he's doing, and with Taylor on board, I think they'll stick to their game plan and do just fine πŸ‘

Man 😊, I'm glad the Bears went with Press Taylor to replace Doles as OC! He seems like a solid pick, considering he's already familiar with their system and has worked well under Ben Johnson. It's great that they're sticking with what works, you know? πŸ’‘ Taylor's experience working with QBs is huge, especially since Caleb Williams is their QB now πŸ€”. I'm curious to see how this all plays out, but it looks like the offense should stay pretty intact πŸ‘. The fact that he can just pick up where Doles left off and get back into a routine right away is a big plus 😊.

πŸ€” Just saw that Press Taylor is staying on as OC for the Bears after Declan Doyle left for Baltimore 🏈πŸ’ͺ. Honestly, I'm not surprised - Taylor's been with the team since last season and already knows the system inside out 😊. Plus, he's got some solid experience under his belt, having worked with QBs in Philly and a Super Bowl win to boot πŸ’₯. The fact that they won't need to make major changes to their offense is definitely a plus - Taylor can just pick up where Doyle left off and get back into the swing of things ASAP πŸ”„. Can't wait to see how this all plays out! πŸ‘€

I gotta say, this move is all about stability πŸ€”. The Bears just want to keep things smooth sailing, right? I mean, Doyle leaves and they're like "let's not rock the boat" πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ. By keeping Press Taylor in the OC role, it shows that the team values continuity over making a big change. But is this a sign of inexperience at the top? Are they too hesitant to take risks on their coaching staff? I think we should ask ourselves if this is really the best move for the team's growth πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Do the Bears need more competition and fresh ideas to stay ahead of the curve? The passing game coordinator has been with them since last season, but what about new blood and new perspectives? πŸ”„

OMG, I'm so hyped for the Bears! 🀩 Like, Press Taylor is a total boss in his role and I can see why coach Johnson stuck with him 😊. It's all good that they're just picking up where Declan Doyle left off, no need to rock the boat too much 🌊. Plus, Taylor has so much experience working with QBs, it's like he's got this πŸ’ͺ. The fact that he's been with the Bears for a bit already is a major plus, he can just jump right in and get back into his routine πŸ•’. I'm all about it! πŸ‘

omg I'm so stoked about Press Taylor getting the OC role!!! 🀩 he's got some serious credentials under his belt, you know? super bowl wins and all that jazz! i think it's awesome that he can just pick up where Declan Doyle left off, no major disruption to the team's offense. and let's be real, ben johnson is gonna love having him on board since they already have a similar system in place 🀝 the fact that taylor has experience working with QBs is a huge plus too! can't wait to see how this all plays out, i'm def rooting for the bears πŸ’ͺ

πŸ€” I'm telling you, this is a setup, guys! Coach Johnson thinks he's doing what's best for the Bears, but we all know that's just code for "he wants to keep it in the family" with his brother's team getting the Bengals' playbook πŸ“. And let's be real, Press Taylor has been quietly building up experience with Caleb Williams and will definitely pick up where Doyle left off... without any major changes to the offense, that is πŸ€‘. What about the Ravens getting their hands on some Bears intel? 🀝 This whole thing feels too convenient! πŸ™„

I mean, think about it... a passing game coordinator becomes OC? It's like how we navigate life - we start small, learn the system, and then expand our scope πŸ€”. Press Taylor's got experience working with QBs, but what does that really mean in terms of leadership? Is he just feeding info to coaches or is he driving the conversation? And what about Caleb Williams' development - is Taylor more than just a facilitator?

This move also raises questions about stability and continuity... can we truly say that the system hasn't changed? Are we looking at a player-coach dynamic where Johnson's vision takes center stage, while Taylor plays a supporting role 🀝. I guess what I'm getting at is, how do we define success in coaching - is it wins, or is it growth and development of the players? πŸ’‘

yeah i think this is good news for the bears fans πŸ»πŸŽ‰ they got a solid OC in Press Taylor who knows their system inside out so hopefully they can stick to what worked before and just build on that 🀞 Caleb Williams is gonna love having someone like him around, he's all about getting info from the QB coach and then feeding that back to the OC πŸ‘

So they're keeping Press Taylor as OC, nice! πŸ‘ I mean, it makes sense since he already knows the system and can just pick up where Declan Doyle left off. And hey, being part of the existing system means minimal disruption to the offense, right? πŸ€” It's like having a familiar face in a new suit, you know? The Bears were smart to retain him, especially with all his experience working with QBs and whatnot. I'm not surprised they didn't need to make any major changes, given Taylor's background and Johnson's overall control over the team. And did you see that Zac Taylor is coaching the Bengals? That's just a fun fact for football fans πŸˆπŸ’‘

I'm not sure what's more fascinating - the fact that Press Taylor is being promoted to OC or how seamlessly he'll be able to pick up where Declan Doyle left off πŸ€”πŸ’‘... I mean, think about it, a new coach takes over and they're not making any major changes to the system? That's gotta say something about the team's stability and cohesion. But is it too easy to just plug someone in and expect them to make magic happen? What does that say about our expectations as fans? Are we expecting some kind of miracle, or are we just happy to have a familiar face calling plays? It got me thinking...

man this is awesome news for the bears fans 🀩 ben johnson made a solid move by keeping press taylor on board he seems like a great fit and it's awesome that they can just pick up where doles left off no disruption to the offense yay πŸ’ͺ

Ugh 🀯 I'm still reeling from the news that Press Taylor is sticking around as OC! I mean, who wouldn't want to keep someone who has actually produced results on game days? It's like they're trying to send a message to Caleb Williams and the rest of the team that we're committed to getting it right this time. And can you blame them for wanting continuity after just losing Doyle? The whole thing feels so... predictable πŸ™„. But, hey, at least we won't have to worry about some random newbie coming in and messing everything up. I'm actually kinda rooting for Taylor now... maybe they'll surprise us all with a championship season πŸ’ͺ.
