I mean, I'm all for reviving old works like La Ville Morte, but I feel like it's gotta do more than just pay homage to other composers ๐Ÿค”. I've listened to this recording and while Neal Goren and the cast are super talented, I was kinda underwhelmed too...it's like they're stuck in a rut and can't quite break free from those established patterns ๐ŸŽต. And yeah, I get why Pugno's orchestration is faithfully recreated, but I wish there was more room for interpretation - that final act just felt like it was dragging on ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. Still, I'm curious to see if this recording can help people discover Boulanger's work and maybe even inspire some new composers to push the boundaries ๐Ÿ’ก

I gotta say ๐Ÿค”, I'm not blown away by La Ville Morte. It feels like a missed opportunity to create something truly original ๐ŸŽจ. The nods to other composers are cool and all, but it's just too much borrowing from someone else's style ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, where's the innovation? Where's the risk-taking? ๐Ÿ’ธ

And don't even get me started on that final act ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. It feels like it's trying to cram too many emotions into one song, and it just doesn't land. The music is nice and all, but it's not enough to carry the story forward ๐ŸŽง.

I'm curious to see if this recording can bring new life to La Ville Morte ๐Ÿ’ฅ, but I gotta say, I'm skeptical. Maybe with some more experimentation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible, Boulanger could've created something truly special ๐Ÿ”ฅ. But as it stands, it feels like a step back ๐Ÿšซ.

I feel kinda meh about this opera revival ๐Ÿค” it's like they're trying to recapture something beautiful but it's all a bit...safe ๐ŸŒณ I mean, I love Natia Boulanger as an artist and all, but La Ville Morte just doesn't hold up to my expectations. It's like she's playing it safe with those nods to the masters - Wagner, Faurรฉ, Debussy...it's like she's saying "oh you like these guys? well here's something that kinda sounds like them" ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ and yeah, I guess that's not super original or exciting. Don't get me wrong, it's still got some nice moments, but overall it feels like a missed opportunity to push the boundaries of what she can do musically. Maybe this recording will be a good test run for whether Boulanger wants to revisit the score and try again? ๐ŸŽต

omg i'm def disappointed in natia boulanger's opera la ville morte ๐Ÿค• it feels like she's copying off other famous composers and not really bringin her own style to the table tbh. i mean, wagner, faurรฉ, debussy are all legends but can't they just inspire instead of borrow? ๐Ÿ™„ the music is pretty but it's not holdin my attention for long. and that final act is like, woah so predictable ๐Ÿ˜ด gotta feel like there's more to it than this. need more experimentation or somethin
