A 29-year-old Brooklyn man is facing serious charges after allegedly targeting an unsuspecting senior citizen on New Year's Day. Anton Aleshin, has been arraigned and charged with attempted murder, after he was accused of pushing the 72-year-old into a moving subway train at a Bronx station.
According to police, they received a call around 3:30 am Wednesday from a 911 caller reporting an incident at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station. Witnesses told authorities that Aleshin had pushed the victim, who sustained cuts to his head and lost consciousness as he was rushed to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.
Aleshin was arrested approximately 20 minutes later and held without bail following a guilty plea in court. Surveillance footage and witness statements were used by police to build their case against him, which now accuses Aleshin of attempting to murder the elderly victim.
The victim's attorney has not yet commented on the charges brought against his client, leaving family members of the victim and others shaken by the senseless violence.
