Chappell Roan Misses No.1 By One Space — Who Keeps Her From The Top Spot?

Chappell Roan's latest single "The Subway" narrowly missed out on the coveted No.1 spot in this week's Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts, a place that was previously occupied by Queen's iconic "Bohemian Rhapsody". For the first time in her career, Roan has come so close to achieving the top spot but fell just one space short.

The 2025 Grammy nominee for Best New Artist returned to music's biggest night with its nomination for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance. The vinyl release of "The Subway" catapulted it back into contention as a bestseller in the UK. Despite being released months ago and having already sold well, Roan's current single has yet to crack physical mediums in the U.K.

Roan's impressive run on the Official Physical Singles chart saw her win five times, but unfortunately, "The Subway" failed to reach No.1, joining the ranks of other singles like "Good Luck, Babe!", "Pink Pony Club", and "The Giver", which all stalled at No.2. Roan has never managed to claim the top spot in her career.

On the Official Singles Sales chart, Roan's song appeared at No.2 for the first time since its release in August. The Grammy nominee extended her streak of near-No.1 hits on this chart with "The Subway" becoming her fourth track to peak at No.2, while only "Hot to Go!" managed a modest No.27.

Roan's latest single also saw significant gains on the Songs Chart, where it lifted again in recognition of its commercial success. The singer-songwriter has now accumulated an impressive collection of chart-topping hits, with four songs currently featured on the UK charts, including "The Giver" and "Good Luck, Babe!", both only available on the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts.

Despite missing out on the coveted No.1 spot this time around, Roan's continued success is a testament to her growing popularity and talent as an artist.

omg u gotta feel bad for Chappell Roan 🤕 she came so close to getting that number one spot on both the physical singles & vinyl charts but just missed out by one space 😔 it's def not easy for a new artist like her to get back into contention after releasing months ago. i think what's crazy is how well "The Subway" is doing on other charts tho 📈 like songs chart? still, gotta give it up for Roan and her team for the grammy noms 👏

So what's going on here? Chappell Roan's so close to reaching that elusive No.1 spot 🤔 but keeps falling just short 😕. It raises some interesting questions about the music industry and how charts are set up. Is it possible that her success is being held back by the voting system or promotion from labels? I think we need to look at this as a debate around fair representation in the music industry 👀. Are there other artists who have been snubbed for that top spot due to politics or influence? 🤑 We can't just chalk it up to talent alone, there's gotta be more to it.

OMG 😱 I'm literally dying over here! Chappell Roan is so close but yet so far from reaching that No.1 spot 🤯 I mean, five wins on the Official Physical Singles chart? That's insane! 💥 And to think she's been nominated for Grammys already? Girl's on fire 🔥 I'm not surprised she didn't crack physical mediums in the UK though - "The Subway" is a BOP and I know everyone who's listened to it loves it 🎶 Can't wait to see what's next for her! 💖

Man, I'm loving Chappell Roan's vibe right now 🤩 she's like the indie queen of the music scene, you know? Her ability to create such deep connections with her listeners through her songs is incredible 💖. And it's amazing to see how her fans are still supporting her even when she doesn't quite reach the top spot - that's what being part of a community is all about, right? 🤝 I mean, sure, it would be awesome if "The Subway" had cracked that No.1 spot, but at the end of the day, it's still doing amazingly well and proving her worth as an artist. And can we talk about how gorgeous her music videos are? 📹 Roan is definitely on my radar now - I'll be keeping a close eye on her future releases! 👀

🤔 so Chappell Roan was just one space away from no 1 tho like what even is that? 🚀 did she have some kinda insider info or something? also, how did she not get physical copies sold yet considering its been months out? 📦 sounds like a marketing fail to me. and whats up with all the back and forth between no 2 and no 3 on the charts? is this just a normal thing now? 🤷‍♀️

I don’t usually comment but... Chappell Roan's latest single "The Subway" has me kinda curious, like how she manages to consistently release hits even when they don't quite make it to the top 🤔. I think what's cool is that she's still killing it on other charts, especially with her four songs featured on the UK charts 🎵. It's like she's got this underground buzz going on, and people are still super into her music 🌟. One thing that bugs me a bit (no pun intended) is how hard it seems to be for new artists to break through to the top spot... maybe it's just a numbers game?

🎶📈 Chappell Roan is soooo close to reaching that No.1 spot 🤯! One space short is a big deal 💔, but I'm still hype for her music 🎵! She's been killing it on the charts with her latest single "The Subway" and I love how she's not giving up 😒. Her nomination for the Grammys is a major win too 🏆! Roan is definitely one of the top artists to watch out for in 2025 🔥! Can't wait to see what she does next 💪! 👏

omg i'm literally dying over Chappell Roan 🤩 she's come so close to that #1 spot but like, one space too far? i mean i know it's not the end of the world but still can't help but feel for her 🤕 i've been listening to "The Subway" nonstop since its release and it's giving me LIFE 💖 i need a follow-up single ASAP or else i'll literally lose my mind 😂

🤔 I think Chappell Roan is so underrated! She's been consistently putting out these amazing tracks and yet she's still not getting the recognition she deserves. Like, five No.1 wins on the Official Physical Singles chart? That's no joke! But for some reason, this latest single just can't seem to get over that last hurdle... 🚀 I mean, "The Subway" is a banger, don't @ me 😎. And it's not like she's been slacking off or anything - the girl's been grinding out these hits nonstop. Maybe we should be celebrating her for all her near-misses instead of complaining about them? 🤷‍♀️

OMG, CHAPPELL ROAN IS SO CLOSE TO REACHING THAT TOP SPOT!!! 🤩 i mean, five wins on the official physical singles chart? that's insane! 🚀 and now "THE SUBWAY" has come so close to cracking the top 10 on the songs chart... i'm not sure what's going on with uk music charts these days but Chappell is definitely on a roll 💪🏽🎵.
