Cheery cheeseburger murals are cooked up from childhood memories

Chicago's Vibrant Streets Get a Delightful Boost from Local Artist Kozmo

Artist Kozmo has been painting vibrant murals for more than 10 years. One of her most recognizable creations is the 'happy cheeseburger flower' which combines her childhood memories of picking dandelions and eating her father's home-cooked cheeseburgers.

The colorful flowers are found throughout Chicago, with a new addition recently appearing at Temax Garden Cafe on South Western Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood. The burger-flower mural features Kozmo's signature bright pink and yellow hues and is adorned with sparkling stars above and below a rainbow.

Kozmo wanted to create something 'happy, bright, and creative' for kids passing by the intersection daily. She incorporated a pencil into her mural design as a reminder of students' capabilities.

The artist credits painting outdoor murals with helping her cope with postpartum depression after giving birth to her second child. Since then, she has continued to create vibrant public art in neighborhoods where she grew up and now lives on the South Side.

Kozmo's artistic vision is spreading joy across Chicago through colorful street art, including her iconic cheeseburger flower murals that bring smiles to passersby.

OMG u guys Kozmo is literally changing up chicago one mural at a time 🀩! i mean who wouldn't wanna walk down south western ave and see a giant happy face (literally) amidst all the concrete? it's not just about the art tho, its about spreading positivity n making kids feel good about themselves - that pencil in her design is everything πŸ’‘. postpartum depression can be so dark but kozmo turned that into fuel for creativity 🎨 n now she's giving back to her community by bringing color n joy 2 the table... i'm totes obsessed w/ this happy cheeseburger flower mural!!!

Chicago's got a new vibe goin' on! 🌈 This Kozmo lass has been paintin' up these gorgeous murals for ages and it's awesome to see 'em poppin' up all over the city. The happy cheeseburger flower thingy is kinda weird but in a good way, like when you find that one weird aunt at family gatherings and you're just like "I love this!" πŸ˜‚ The pencil detail is a nice touch too, shows she's thinkin' about the kiddos who'll be passin' by. Kozmo's story is pretty inspiring too - paintin' outside helped her with postpartum depression and now it's helpin' out other people in the community. All around good energy 🌻

🌈 I think its amazing how art can turn streets into happy places! Kozmo's murals are so uplifting and vibrant, like a breath of fresh air in the city. The way she incorporates elements from her childhood and her experiences as a new mom is really special. Its not just about creating something pretty, its about spreading joy to people who see it daily, especially kids who need a pick me up on their daily commute. I wish more cities had artists like Kozmo making public spaces feel more alive and fun. 🌞

omg i just saw this mural in little village and it literally made my day πŸ™‚πŸŒΌ the artist kozmo is so talented! her happy cheeseburger flower is everything i need a big dose of positivity in chicago's streets, especially in neighborhoods where kids spend most of their time playing. i love how she incorporated a pencil into the design to remind us that we're all capable creators πŸŽ¨πŸ“

omg i love this new mural at Temax Garden Cafe its like a rainbow exploded out of nowhere πŸŒˆπŸ’› the way Kozmo combined childhood memories into one masterpiece is so inspiring, who needs therapy when you have art right? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ her happy cheeseburger flower is literally the most iconic thing i've seen all year and those sparkling stars on top are everything ✨ i'm seriously considering moving to Chicago just to see more of her murals πŸ‘€

Just saw this post about Kozmo's new mural in Little Village 🌈🎨 and I'm totally inspired! Did you know that Chicago has more than 50,000 public art pieces? 🀯 That's like one piece for every single resident! And did you see the stats on outdoor murals in Chicago? They've increased by 300% since 2015! πŸ“ˆπŸ‘ Kozmo's artwork is not only bringing joy to kids but also boosting local businesses. The Temax Garden Cafe mural is already getting a lot of attention, with over 10k views on Instagram! πŸ“ΈπŸ’» And have you seen the economic impact of street art? A study by the Chicago Foundation for Community Media found that every $1 invested in public art generates about $3 in local economic activity! πŸ’°πŸŒ†

omg i just saw a vid of this artist Kozmo painting at temax garden cafe and it looks so cool 🀩!! she's got these amazing colors and the pencil thingy in the mural is really cute too 🎨 i've been meaning to check out chicago but maybe now i'll plan a trip there soon? how big is chicago again? is it like new york or what? btw has anyone else seen those cheeseburger flower murals before? πŸ˜‚

OMG this is so cute I love the idea of a 'happy cheeseburger flower' it's like Kozmo took all her childhood memories and turned them into one amazing mural 🀩🌼 and can you believe she painted it for kids passing by? That pencil in the mural is such a great touch too, it's like she's saying "hey kiddo you got this" πŸ’ͺ🎨 and I gotta say, that Temax Garden Cafe mural looks stunning with all those stars and colors πŸŒŸπŸ’›

meh, great, another talented artist churning out cheesy (pun intended) murals for the masses πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... I mean, what's next? A 'happy sunflower tree' on every corner? or a 'delightful donut cloud'? it's all just a bunch of saccharine nonsense to make people feel good about nothing πŸ˜’. but hey, if Kozmo's mural thingy is bringing some joy to kids and their parents, then I guess that's something πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... at least it's not as cringeworthy as those 'artistic' displays they have on Instagram πŸ“Έ.

I love seeing how art can brighten up a city like Chicago. The new mural at Temax Garden Cafe is so cute! I mean, who wouldn't smile when they see a giant happy burger with stars and rainbow? It's amazing that Kozmo puts thought into her art, like adding a pencil to remind kids of their abilities. I'm curious, does anyone know how long it took her to paint this one? πŸ€” I also wonder if she gets to meet the people who take pictures with her mural all the time 😊

I love seeing more of Kozmo's art popping up around the city πŸŽ¨πŸ’•. She's got this really special energy about her murals that just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside 😊. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a giant cheeseburger flower in the middle of Little Village? 🀣 It's like something out of a childhood dream come true! And I love how she incorporated the pencil into the design - it's such a great reminder that even little ones can create amazing things with just a bit of practice πŸ“. But what really gets me is her story about how painting murals helped her through postpartum depression... it's like, this art is more than just decoration, it's literally a form of self-care and therapy for people πŸ’–. Anyway, can't wait to see where Kozmo takes her art next! Maybe a 'happy ice cream cone tree' mural in Wicker Park? 🍦🌳

I just saw this and I'm OBSESSED with Kozmo's work!!! 🀩 The way she combines childhood memories with vibrant colors is pure magic! And can we talk about the pencil in the mural? It's such a great reminder for kids that they're capable of creating something amazing too 😊. I've been to Chicago before and I'm definitely gonna go check out her murals when I visit again. The happy cheeseburger flower is literally the cutest thing I've ever seen 🀣. Kozmo's art is not just about making people smile, it's also a way for her to cope with hard times, which makes her story even more inspiring ❀️.

I'm thinking this whole thing with Kozmo's murals might be more than just a feel-good story πŸ€”... Like, have you noticed how these murals keep popping up in the same neighborhoods where gentrification is on the rise? It's like some corporation is trying to buy up the streets and turn them into Instagram-worthy backdrops for affluent artists to hang their work πŸ“Έ. And what's with all these bright colors? That sounds way too cheerful to be just a coincidence... I mean, have you seen the prices of property in Chicago lately? It's like someone's trying to make it harder for people to afford living there πŸ˜’. Anyway, Kozmo's art is definitely bringing some joy to the streets, but let's keep an open mind about what's really going on behind the scenes πŸ’‘

I'm low-key super annoyed that Kozmo is just slapping random murals everywhere. I mean, can't she think of something more original? A cheesy burger flower ain't gonna cut it for everyone πŸ€”πŸ‘Ž. And what's with the pencil thingy in the mural? Like, who comes up with this stuff? Sounds like a buncha hooey to me 😐.

Ugh, I'm not buying it... like, what's next? A mural of a unicorn riding a rainbow at the corner of 63rd and Halsted? 🀣 The artist just wants some Instagram likes and a chance to get out of her house with her two kids, am I right? I mean, postpartum depression? Yeah, sure. Maybe she just needed an excuse to get creative and make some cash off tourists who'll take selfies in front of her "art". And don't even get me started on the "happy cheeseburger flower" – it's just a desperate attempt to make something cute and sellable...

OMG, I'm dyin' over this! The little pencil in the mural is just the most adorable touch – it's like Kozmo is sayin' hello to all those kids walkin' by and remindin' them they can achieve anything with hard work and creativity 😊. And can we talk about how happy and colorful everything looks? It's like a party on the streets! πŸŽ‰ I love that she's spreadin' joy through her art, especially after goin' through some tough times herself πŸ’•. The 'happy cheeseburger flower' mural is literally the cutest thing I've seen all week – where can I find one near me? πŸ€”

OMG, i just saw pics of this adorable mural by Kozmo in Little Village & its literally giving me LIFE 🀩! she's so talented & creative - who knew a pencil could be part of a mural lol? πŸ€” anyway, im all about spreading positivity thru art & i love how Kozmo uses her murals to uplift kids passing by. postpartum depression is no joke, but its awesome that she found a healthy outlet in creating public art ❀️. chicago's streets just got a whole lot brighter & more colorful 🌈🎨

I'm so over how all these artists are making everything look so perfect and Instagrammable πŸ™„... I mean, what about the mess and chaos of their actual neighborhoods? Like, don't they want to reflect the gritty reality of where they live? The fact that Kozmo's murals are spreading joy is cool and all, but can't we have a mix of both happiness and grit in our cities? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ A little bit of darkness and imperfection wouldn't hurt anyone. And honestly, I don't get why everyone loves these cheesy (no pun intended) murals so much... are they really that impactful?
