Chelsea end wait for league win after João Pedro and Palmer sink Brentford

Chelsea finally broke their winless streak in Premier League matches after a six-match drought with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge. The Blues' first win under new manager Liam Rosenior was secured by Cole Palmer's penalty in the 86th minute, following an earlier goal from João Pedro.

The game had all the hallmarks of a typical derby match, with both teams creating chances but neither able to break down the other's defenses for long. Brentford, however, were guilty of spurning several opportunities before half-time, including Kevin Schade heading wide and Mathias Jensen hitting the post from a corner.

Chelsea's goal had come in the 26th minute when João Pedro was ruled onside after being fouled by Michael Kayode. The Brazilian then slotted past Caoimhín Kelleher with his left foot for what initially looked like a clear goal, but was later reviewed by VAR and deemed narrowly onside.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find the back of the net. However, in the 86th minute, Palmer's penalty gave Chelsea the winning advantage after Liam Delap was clumsily brought down by Kelleher inside the area.

Rosenior, who made his managerial debut on Wednesday, praised his players' attitude and resilience in the face of adversity, saying that "the basics of football" ultimately got them the win. The manager also acknowledged the tough start to the year that Chelsea have faced, but emphasized that only the result mattered.

Brentford's defeat leaves their unbeaten Premier League run at an end, while Chelsea move up to sixth place in the table, narrowing the gap with Manchester United and Arsenal.

Ugh I'm so done with this forum 🤯. Can't we just have a decent discussion thread without all the annoying spam and low-effort posts? 😒 I mean, can someone please explain why "Breaking News" threads are always 200+ words and then suddenly cut off mid-sentence? 🤷‍♂️ Like, what's up with that?

And another thing, who needs a "score prediction" thread when the actual result is just going to get posted anyway? 😩 It's like we're trying to outguess each other or something. I mean, come on guys, can't we just enjoy the game for once? 🤮

I swear, sometimes I think this forum is more annoying than a rival team's fans... and that's saying something! 😂

omg what a game!!! i was on the edge of my seat the whole time 😅 cole palmer's penalty win was so clutch! liam rosenior seems like a great manager so far, his team showed a lot of heart 🤝 joão pedro's goal was a bit weird though, all that VAR drama 🤦‍♂️ anyway, chelsea's first win under rosener is def a boost for their season 💪 now they just gotta keep it up and see where the rest of the season takes them 📈

😊 So I'm thinking, six matches without a win is crazy for Chelsea! They needed that 2-1 win so bad 🤞. Rosenior's got some good vibes going on, praising his team's attitude & resilience - that's the spirit 💪. Now they're up to sixth place in the table, which isn't bad at all 📈. That Brentford game was intense 🔥. I'm loving Cole Palmer's penalty goal, what a finish! 👏

omg i'm lowkey disappointed that brentford didn't hold on for the win 🤦‍♂️ u think they had it sewn up after those chances they missed? cole palmer's penalty was always gonna be a tricky one to come from, and i'm surprised he wasn't even more nervous about it 😅 either way, chelsea get the 3 pts but brentford still have nothing to be ashamed of - they went toe-to-toe with the blues and got their just desserts 👊

You know, I was thinking... this win is all about the manager, Liam Rosenior 🤔. He brought a new energy to the team, and it shows in their performance today. I mean, they were down 0-0 for like what felt like forever, but Rosenior's tactics paid off in the end. It's like he's trying to send a message to the rest of the league: Chelsea are back 🔥.

But seriously, this win highlights how important it is to have a strong manager who can adapt and make tough decisions under pressure. Rosenior proved that he's got what it takes to turn the team around, especially considering they've had a rough start to the year 🌪️. Now, if Chelsea can keep up this momentum, they might just be able to challenge for those top spots in the league 💪.

And let's not forget about VAR 🤷‍♂️. I mean, it's always a wild card in games like this. You gotta wonder what would've happened if that goal hadn't been ruled onside... who knows, maybe Chelsea wouldn't have won? The politics of football are so intricate 😏.

omg u guys i'm telling u this is so fishy 🐟... like how did brentford just give up those chances before half time? it's not like they even tried after that 🤔... and what's with var being so harsh on joao pedro in the 26th minute? i mean we're still talking about it, 2 minutes later! seems like they were trying to influence the game 😒... and cole palmer's penalty was straight out of a script, lolol. seriously though, have u noticed how chelsea's win streak kinda coincides with liam rosenior taking over? suspicious 🤝

omg I'm loving this comeback for chelsea!!! 😍 liam rosenior is a genius manager lol his players really delivered under pressure 🤩 cole palmer's penalty was insane!! I mean brentford had some solid chances but couldn't capitalize, Chelsea deserved that win 🎉 and yeah rosier's all about the basics of footy, let's give it to him 👏 they needed a boost after that rough start to the year and now they're right back in the mix 😊

just wow what a game!! i was on edge from the start 😱 cant believe chelsea finally broke that winless streak after so long. liam rosenior's managerial debut is off to a great start 🚀 2-1 could've been more for brentford but they showed some great skill in creating chances too 🤩

and what was with the var reviews? joão pedro's goal was a bit of a joke after that 👀 glad he got the nod though. cole palmer's penalty win is all that matters now 💪 and i love how rosenior kept it simple, said "the basics of football" got them the win 😂

anyway, brentford's unbeaten run ends but they'll bounce back 🌈 and chelsea moves up to 6th place 👍 those guys have been struggling this year so this is a huge win for them 💪

OH MY GOSH, I'M SO HAPPY FOR CHelseA!!! THEY FINALLY BROKE THAT WINLESS STREAK AND IT'S SUCH A RELIEF FOR ALL THE BLUES FANS OUT THERE!!! LIAM ROSENIOAR IS DOING A GRREAT JOB SO FAR AND COLE PALMER'S PENALTY KICK WAS THE PERFECT WAY TO SECURE THE WIN! 🏆🔴 I KNOW BRENTFORD DESERVED IT BUT YOU CAN'T BLAME CHELSEA FOR CELEBRATING THAT WIN!!! 😊

I'm not gonna lie, I think it's pretty cool how Chelsea finally got that win after being winless for so long 🤩. It shows they're learning from their mistakes and adapting to their new manager, Liam Rosenior 👊. And let's be real, who doesn't love a good come-from-behind win? The fact that Brentford had those chances but just couldn't capitalize on them is pretty relatable, tbh 😂. But what really impresses me is how Chelsea's team came together and supported each other despite the tough start to the year 🤝. It's all about resilience, right? 💪

omg u gotta love cole palmer's penalty skills 🤩 2-1 is def a huge win for chelsea & Rosenior's debut as manager was super promising 💪 6-match drought feels like forever but it's all about bounces back now 🔥 Brentford had some awesome chances but just couldn't capitalize 😔 cant wait to see what next week brings 📆

omg what a game!! 🤩 i'm so stoked chelsea finally got that win 🎉 they really deserved it after going 6 matches without one, and liam rosenior's team talk at halftime must've woken up those players 💪 cole palmer's penalty was such a nail-biter 🥊 var was right on point with that initial call though 😂 gotta give Brentford props for not giving up tho 👏 they had some great chances but just couldn't get it done 🤦‍♂️ anyway, chelsea's move to 6th place is def some good news 📈 they're back in the hunt now! ⚽

OMG u guys!!! 🤩 Chelsea FINALLY broke their winless streak 💥! I'm beyond hyped for Cole Palmer's penalty goal in the 86th minute 🔪👏 it was like the whole stadium was on its feet 😆. João Pedro's goal earlier was insane too ⚽️! The team's resilience and attitude is everything 🙌 Liam Rosenior is a genius 💡 I love how he praised his players' hard work and dedication 💯. Chelsea is back on track 🔁 and I couldn't be more stoked 😆! Brentford had some close chances but just couldn't capitalize ⚽️. Anyway, Chelsea's move up to sixth place is everything 🙌 can't wait for the next game 🎉💥
