Disparaging email sent to Penn students, alumni is fake, university says

Ugh, this is just so messed up ... I mean, who does this? Someone's gotta fact-check these emails before sending 'em out to a whole bunch of people, right? It's like, come on, if you're gonna send a fake email, at least try to make it not too believable. Using real Penn email addresses is just lazy ... and the message itself? Elitist? Unmeritocratic? That's some next-level whining .

But you know what really gets me? It's not even like this email was some kind of prank gone right – it was genuinely hurtful to people who got it. I mean, can you imagine getting 10 copies of that thing in your inbox? ... it must've been super frustrating and disheartening.

The university's response is good, though. They're owning up to the mistake and apologizing, which is more than some institutions would do . And the fact that they're working on security measures is a step in the right direction ... gotta stay vigilant, you know?

Ugh I'm so annoyed that some scammer would send out a fake email like this! It's just not cool, you know? Penn is already such an amazing institution, and to have someone spread hate and negativity about it is just wrong . And can you believe they used real-sounding email addresses?! That's just low . The fact that some people got like 10 copies of the message must have been super stressful for them . I hope the university's Office of Information Security gets to the bottom of this and takes action against whoever is behind it . We should all be supporting our universities, not being targeted by scammers who want to spread hate .

omg this is so messed up fake emails are getting out of hand! like what's next? they're trying to make penn sound bad on purpose i feel bad for all the students who got that email, 10 copies must be super stressful gotta give props to the ppl at penn tho for catching it and addressing it ASAP we need more security measures in place, esp with phishing emails this is just getting too crazy
