In a devastating turn of events, the family of a 17-year-old girl who was killed by a hit-and-run driver is now appealing for help to find the perpetrator. Jeana Flores, a high school student from Antioch, was struck down on Friday morning while walking home after doing laundry at a friend's house.
According to her uncle, Elias Flores, Jeana had been trying to turn her life around and had just called him three weeks ago to discuss her spiritual journey. "She called me out of the blue asking me about God and how she get her life right with God," he said, visibly shaken by the loss of his niece.
Eyewitnesses reported that Jeana was walking alone on the shoulder of the road around 9 p.m. when a driver struck her. She suffered severe injuries, including scrapes and gashes on her head and hands, before being found dead by police.
"It's mind-boggling," said Elias Flores. "I have no word to express how we are all feeling." His father, Joseph Flores, added that Jeana was trying to get enrolled in Job Corps on Treasure Island, a dream she had always wanted to pursue.
The family is now pleading with the driver involved to come forward and turn themselves in. They are also asking the community for help in identifying the suspect. This whole thing is just so sad, I mean what's the point of all these new-fangled self-driving cars if some humans still can't take care of themselves? It's like Jeana had no business walking alone on that road at night. Shouldn't there be better lighting or something? And don't even get me started on this whole 'Job Corps' thing, isn't that just a bunch of young people stuck in some kind of group home with no actual job skills? I mean, I know Jeana was trying to turn her life around, but did she really need to die over it?

we should be focusing on education and awareness, not relying on fancy tech to keep us safe. and another thing, why do we need social media to express our condolences? can't we just talk to each other face-to-face like normal people?

but to be honest, i don't think it's fair to label the driver as "inconsiderate and evil" 
we should be trying to understand what might have led them to make that mistake rather than jumping to conclusions 
maybe the driver was in a rush or wasn't even paying attention, who knows? 
i do think it's amazing how jeana's family is staying strong for her dad and other siblings though 
they're all trying to focus on celebrating her life rather than dwelling on what happened
