Feeding San Diego seeks more volunteers

"Call to Action: San Diego Organization Seeks Volunteers for Community Food Event

In an effort to make a lasting impact in the community, Feeding San Diego is kicking off 2026 by hosting a key event that requires a significant amount of volunteer support. On Tuesday, the organization will be putting out the call for 150 volunteers to help sort and distribute excess food donated by local convention attendees.

The partnership between Feeding San Diego and the food convention aims to minimize food waste while maximizing its potential impact in the community. Volunteers playing a crucial role in this initiative can sign up on the organization's website.

In addition to their upcoming event, Feeding San Diego is always seeking dedicated volunteers to lend their support throughout the year. The organization has already made a significant mark in the region last fiscal year, with over 12,500 volunteers contributing their time and expertise, equivalent to 31 full-time employees.

The impact of these volunteer efforts was felt most acutely during the same period, as Feeding San Diego successfully rescued an impressive 36.2 million pounds of food from more than 780 food donors. With this momentum building, Feeding San Diego is poised for continued success in its mission to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with food insecurity."

🤝 I think it's amazing how much of a difference one community event can make! Feeding San Diego already did so much last year and now they're gearing up for even more. 150 volunteers is a pretty big ask, but if people come together like that, I'm sure it'll be a huge success 🚀. And the fact that they've got such a strong team of dedicated volunteers who are always lending a hand throughout the year speaks volumes about the impact one person can have in their community 💪. Let's hope this event helps even more people out there and shows us all what we're capable of when we work together 🌟

OMG, I'm so inspired by this 🤩! A community event like that requires so much effort and teamwork, but it's amazing to see how one organization can bring people together for a good cause. 150 volunteers is not too many, right? I'd love to sign up myself! It's so cool that they're making a difference in their own backyard by reducing food waste. And wow, 36.2 million pounds of rescued food? That's mind-blowing 🤯! I'm definitely going to spread the word about Feeding San Diego and encourage my friends to volunteer too. We should all be proud of these unsung heroes who are making a real difference in people's lives 💖!

Just saw that Feeding San Diego is looking for volunteers 🤝💖 for their community food event and I'm all about it! Helping out at an event like this feels so fulfilling, not just because you're making a tangible impact, but also 'cause you get to meet new peeps & see the community come together 🌎. Plus, every hour counts in reducing food waste - that's straight fire 🔥! If you're free on Tuesday, consider signing up - I'm sure we'll have enough energy to sort through 150 boxes of food 💪. The more hands on deck, the merrier 🎉 #VolunteerWork #FoodInsecurity #MakeADifference

Umm yeah 🤔 so I think it's awesome that Feeding San Diego is trying to tackle food waste and help out the community. They're doing some cool stuff, like partnering with convention events to get more donations 💸. The fact that they've already gotten 12,500 volunteers on board last year is pretty impressive 🙌, but it's also a bit concerning that they'd need so many people to sort through all that food...I mean, what if they're just spreading the problem around instead of solving it? 🤷‍♀️ Still, I guess it's better than nothing, and if anyone wants to get involved and make a difference 👍, then go for it!

just had the scoop that FSD is planning something BIG for 2026 🤫 gotta say, it's about time someone steps up to help the community, especially when it comes to food waste and stuff like that. those volunteers are gonna be the real MVPs, no joke! 150 people showing up to sort and distribute all that food? game changer ⏰

Just read about this awesome event and I'm totally down to volunteer 🤩! It's crazy to think that there are so many people who care enough to help sort out excess food. San Diego has such an amazing community spirit, it's inspiring to see Feeding San Diego making a real difference in people's lives. I'm loving the fact that they're partnering with local conventions - gotta reduce waste and maximize impact 🌎💚

🤩 think it's so cool that there are orgs like Feeding San Diego doin somethin positive with community events & volunteers. idk about people who get frustrated if they can't find a good deal on stuff, but volunteers puttin in time 2 sort & distribute food 4 ppl w/ nothin is the real MVP 🙌. just imagine the impact of all that extra food being sorted out - it's crazy!

🤔 I think its awesome that there's people like Feeding San Diego out there trying to reduce food waste and help those in need. But 36.2 million pounds of food is a crazy number, i wonder how much of it actually gets distributed to the community? Maybe they should consider doing some independent audits to make sure their numbers are accurate? 📊
