Google disables Take a Message on older Pixel phones amid audio leak bug

Google Has Disabled the "Take a Message" Feature on Older Pixel Phones Due to Audio Leak Bug.

Google has temporarily disabled the Take a Message feature, which automatically answers and transcribes voicemails when you miss a call, due to an audio leak bug affecting some Pixel 4 and 5 devices.

The bug, discovered by users, causes microphones to activate unexpectedly when callers are leaving messages, with some owners reporting they could hear their own room sounds or voices while the message was being left. This issue has been confirmed by Google, but is said to only affect a very small subset of devices under rare circumstances.

Out of an abundance of caution, Google has disabled these features on affected devices as a precautionary measure. In the meantime, users with impacted Pixel 4 and 5 phones can still use manual and automatic Call Screening or their carrier's voicemail services.

The company has not yet confirmed whether the Take a Message feature will be permanently removed from older Pixel handsets or restored in the future.

ugh, just got an update on my pixel 4 and now they disabled the take a message thingy... i was really looking forward to that feature... now i have to manually answer all my voicemails like some kinda caveman... ๐Ÿ™„ at least it's only a bug that's affecting a small number of devices so no huge deal, but still super annoying... anyone else having this issue?

๐Ÿ˜Š so i think google is being super responsible here, you know? they're taking care of this one tiny audio leak bug that's affecting like, super rare cases. it's not worth risking people hearing their own voices in voicemails lol. and yeah, it's easy for us to say now, but we don't know the inner workings of google's tech ๐Ÿค”. maybe they'll figure out a way to fix this without having to disable the whole feature... i mean, think about all the ppl who use that stuff ๐Ÿ˜Š. anywayz, google's doin what they gotta do, and that's bein responsible ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I'm kinda annoyed that Google is disabling features on our old Pixel phones ๐Ÿคฏ. I know it's due to an audio leak bug, but that doesn't make it okay ๐Ÿ˜’. I've had my phone for a while now and I'm not happy about having to use manual call screening instead of the convenient Take a Message feature ๐Ÿ“ž. And what really gets me is that Google isn't even sure if they're gonna bring back this feature or not... like, what's up with that? ๐Ÿค”. Can't they just fix the bug and let us use our phones without all these extra precautions? ๐Ÿ˜ก. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next ๐Ÿ‘€.

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ what's going on with Google's Pixel phones?! First, it's always something... like this audio leak bug ๐Ÿคฏ that's causing all sorts of weird issues. I had my brother call me and leave a voicemail but when he called back to check if I got it, he could hear me arguing with my sister in the background ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ (I was totally being rude to her lol). This is so frustrating! Can't Google just get their crap together for once?! ๐Ÿ™„

ugh, great job google... ๐Ÿ‘Ž literally just when I was getting used to having those fancy auto-transcript features on my old pixel 4 ๐Ÿ˜’ now they're taking it away 'cause of some random audio bug ๐Ÿค” yeah, i get it, no one likes hearing their own room sounds while recording a message ๐Ÿ’ก but come on, is it really that big of a deal? like, what's the point of having an auto-transcript feature if you're just gonna disable it because of a minor audio issue? ๐Ÿ™„

ill be so annoyed when i miss a call and dont wanna answer lol ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
anyway, this audio leak bug sounds super frustrating ! ๐Ÿ‘Ž can u imagine hearing your own room sounds while someone is leaving you a message ? ๐Ÿ˜ณ
i hope google finds a fix for this soon , dont want me to have to deal with it lol
but 1 small silver lining - i guess this means my phone wont be blasting out my own voice when i'm trying to watch a video or something ๐Ÿ˜‚
btw, can we make a flowchart of this whole thing tho? ๐Ÿ“ something like:
pixel 4/5 > user leaves voicemail > mic activates unexpectedly > audio leak bug
or maybe just a simple ascii diagram :
+---------------+
Call Left
Voicemail
Mic Activates
Audio Leak Bug
+---------------+
but yeah, hopefully google can fix this soon ๐Ÿคž
