How many points will it take to win Scottish Premiership?

The 96-point mark looms large in the Scottish Premiership title chase. For five seasons, champions have averaged over 96 points to lift the trophy, with Celtic claiming four titles and Rangers winning once. However, this season's campaign promises to be different.

Heart of Midlothian FC are projected to finish on a total of 86 points, lower than any previous champion since 2016-17 when Brendan Rodgers' Celtic achieved an unbeaten season, racking up over 100 points. The average points-per-game for Hearts stands at just 2.27, lower than the last seven winners.

Celtic and Rangers are not expected to reach the same heights this term. A statement win at Tynecastle Park could be a good starting point for Martin O'Neill's Celtic to prove their doubters wrong, but with Danny Rohl in charge, the Hoops' average points-per-game stands at 2.5 - still some way off the last seven winners.

The data suggests Hearts are overperforming by 10 points, while Rangers are overachieving by almost six. However, history shows that data often doesn't determine results. Nancy's managerial tenure was reflective of his xG stats during his time in Scotland.

Ultimately, it will be the drama on the pitch that grabs attention as this extraordinary season unfolds over the next four months. With injuries and January signings capable of changing the complexion completely, the title race is more unpredictable than ever.

With just 15 rounds of fixtures remaining after this weekend, it's unclear how many points will be enough to secure the championship. Celtic have a statement win to make on Sunday, while Rangers must contain their momentum under Danny Rohl.

I think it's pretty clear that Hearts are having an incredible season considering their average points-per-game is way lower than the last seven winners. 86 points is still a solid amount but I gotta wonder if they're going to be able to maintain this pace for the next four months. Celtic and Rangers need to step up their game big time, especially with Danny Rohl at the helm. I mean, we all know what happens when data doesn't match results... history can be pretty unpredictable in football! 🤔🏆

I'm thinking Hearts are definitely having a better run than expected right now 🤔🏆. They're like 10 points over par and all that. But at the same time, Celtic can still turn it around if they get some key wins especially with that big game on Sunday 💪🏼. It's gonna be super interesting to see how this title chase unfolds. Danny Rohl is definitely doing his job well with Rangers too, keeping them ahead of Hearts right now 📊💨.

this season's going to be a total disaster 🤦‍♂️, already 15 games in and Hearts are way overperforming? that's just not gonna last... they're gonna burn out or get unlucky with injuries and whatnot. Rangers are also not looking good at all, Danny Rohl is clueless and they'll probably choke under pressure. Celtic need to win big this weekend but even then, I'd bet against it 🤑

I'm not buying into all this overperforming stuff 🙄. You can't just look at stats and averages and think you've got it figured out. What about the team dynamics, the squad depth? Those 10-point gaps are probably built on shaky ground. And what's with Celtic being so inconsistent under O'Neill now? He's been in charge for like a month... how much of an impact can he really have? 🤔

I don’t usually comment but I think Hearts are having a pretty surreal season 🤯. They’re 10 points overperforming and it’s crazy to see them battling for the title. But at the same time, you can’t ignore the data – they’re still 86 points short of where the past winners have been 📊. It feels like they need a bit of luck on their side or maybe someone will come along and shake things up because 86 just doesn't feel like enough 💪. Celtic and Rangers are being written off, but this season is already proving to be super unpredictable 🔮.

idk why ppl think Hearts gonna let the title slip through their fingers lol they've been playing solid 4 yrs now & their squad's not that bad btw they might need 1 or 2 lucky breaks but i still got faith in them 💪 86 points ain't shabby, and if they can string together some wins, we might see a new champion 🏆🔴

I'm loving how unpredictable this season is shaping up in the Scottish Premiership! 86 points for Hearts sounds crazy low, but you never know what can happen when teams are overperforming by that much 🤯. I think Celtic's statement win at Tynecastle Park could be the turning point for them, and it'll be interesting to see how Rangers bounce back from Danny Rohl taking over 💪. Can't wait to watch the drama unfold over the next four months!

🤔 I'm kinda surprised by Hearts' chances, tbh... 86 points seems way too optimistic for them, and with a manager like Nancy, who's had his ups & downs in Scotland, it's hard to get stoked about their title bid 🤦‍♂️. Don't get me wrong, they're gonna give Celtic & Rangers a run for their money, but I think the gap between those top 2 teams is too big this season 😅. What do you guys think tho? Should we be rooting for the underdog or just hoping for an exciting season 🤗🏆

omg u guys i cant even believe its already feb 🤯 I've got anxiety just thinking about how much my boss is stressing me out rn... anyway back to scottish prem - i think hearts have got this tho they're playing so badly but their stats say otherwise lol, and celtic needs a big win on sunday or theyre toast 🍞👀 rangers are in trouble too under danny rolh, i mean who is that guy tho? 🤔

I gotta say, I'm loving this season so far! Sure, Hearts might not be expected to do as well as usual, but overperforming by 10 points? That's like a silver lining 🌞 in the clouds! And let's be real, those stats don't always translate to wins. Maybe Nancy was on to something 🤔. I'm also hyped for Sunday's game between Celtic and Rangers - it's gonna be drama, drama, drama 💥! We've got four months of this excitement ahead of us, so bring it on! ⚽

OMG, I'm so hyped for the Scottish Premiership title chase this season!!! 96-point mark is CRAZY!!! 💥 Heart of Midlothian FC's projected total of 86 points tho... like, they're overperforming by 10 points? That's insane! 🤯 I'm loving it though, because anything can happen in football! 🏆 The drama on the pitch, injuries, January signings... it's all going to come down to who can stay focused and consistent. Celtic needs that statement win this weekend, and Rangers gotta keep the momentum going with Danny Rohl at the helm 💪 Bring it on, 2024-25 Scottish Premiership season!!! 🎉

I'm loving the drama that's about to unfold in the Scottish Premiership 🤯! The fact that Hearts are overperforming by 10 points and Rangers are overachieving by almost six is already making this season so unpredictable 💥. But you know what they say, data doesn't always determine results 🔮. I'm keeping an eye on Celtic's statement win on Sunday – will it be enough to get them back on track? 🤔 Meanwhile, Danny Rohl needs to keep Rangers' momentum going without injuries getting in the way 🚨. And let's not forget, four months is a long time, so anything can happen 💪!
