Judge halts rushed Leland House auction, intervening again in fight over Detroit’s historic building - Detroit Metro Times

I'm so glad the court stepped in 🙏🏽 to block that auction! It's crazy to think about how many people would've been affected if those tenants had been kicked out without a fight 💔. I mean, can you imagine being in their shoes? The power outage was already super traumatic, and then they're told they have to leave their home without their stuff 📦. It's just not right.

I'm loving the fact that tenant advocates are all about giving those vulnerable folks some breathing room 👌. We need more of this kind of advocacy in our society! And omg, can we talk about how shady it was for the owner to try to sell the building without even considering the tenants' rights? 🤑

The city should really be doing a better job supporting these low-income and marginalized communities 💪. It's not just about giving them a place to live; it's about respecting their human rights too 👫.

Anyway, let's hope this auction gets put on hold for good 🚫💨, and the Leland House can find a way to be preserved as community housing or something 😊. Fingers crossed!
