Judge, wife shot and wounded at home in Lafayette, Indiana

Judge and Wife Shot, Wounded in Home Invasion in Lafayette, Indiana

A shocking home invasion has left a judge and his wife fighting for their lives after they were shot at their residence in Lafayette, Indiana on Sunday. Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 Judge Steven Meyer and his wife Kimberly were both wounded in the attack, with Meyer suffering an injury to his arm and Kimberly having suffered an injury to her hip.

According to police, the couple was found by responding officers who responded to a report of a disturbance at their home on Mill Pond Lane. The victims received medical treatment and are currently in stable condition. Police have not released any information about potential suspects or motives behind the shooting.

An investigation is ongoing, with local and state police, the county sheriff's office, county prosecutors, and the FBI working together to apprehend the shooter. The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office has announced that extra security measures will be in place at the courthouse for the foreseeable future.

Judge Steven Meyer expressed gratitude towards law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, saying he and his wife have "great confidence" in their ability to bring the perpetrator to justice. Kimberly also thanked the community for their outpouring of support and kindness, adding that they are grateful for medical personnel who provided care after the incident.

Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush expressed concern about the safety of judges and their families, stating that any violence against them is completely unacceptable. She encouraged everyone to remain vigilant in their own security.

Despite the violent nature of the crime, courts in Tippecanoe County have announced that they will continue with scheduled cases as normal, with the state Supreme Court Office of Judicial Administration providing support. The local police department has pledged to do everything possible to apprehend those responsible for this senseless and unacceptable act of violence.

man this is such a bummer ๐Ÿค• but like can we talk about how amazing it is that the judge and his wife are gonna be okay ๐Ÿ˜Œ? i mean, they're stable now and getting all the support they need, which is literally the best thing ever ๐Ÿ’•. and can we also appreciate how law enforcement is working together to catch the person who did this? it's crazy to see so many agencies coming together to solve a case like this ๐Ÿค. and i love that judge Meyer and his wife are being super understanding about everything, they're not making a big deal out of it which is really inspiring ๐Ÿ’ช.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ This is just awful! A judge and his wife having to go through all this because someone wanted to hurt them. It's not right, at all. I mean, think about it, a law enforcement officer, someone who's supposed to protect us, getting shot at in their own home? ๐Ÿคฏ What's the point of even having these security measures in place? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’” It's clear that we're still dealing with some seriously messed up people out there. Can't believe the judge and his wife are okay, though. Fingers crossed they get back to normal soon ๐Ÿ‘

just when u think it's safe to leave your doors unlocked ๐Ÿšช๐Ÿ‘€ what happens in lafayette, indiana? i mean, a judge and his wife get shot at home, and they're lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜ฉ how many times do we gotta see this before we take action? ๐Ÿ’ฅ it's not just about them, it's about the fear that comes with living like this, constantly looking over your shoulder ๐Ÿ˜ณ. what can we do to prevent this from happening again? ๐Ÿ’ก extra security at the courthouse is a good start ๐Ÿš” but it's time for more ๐Ÿ”’๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿค• just saw this news about the judge and his wife getting shot in their home in Indiana... it's crazy that a home invasion can happen anywhere, no matter how safe you think your neighborhood is ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’”. I hope they recover from their injuries soon, and I'm glad that law enforcement agencies are taking this seriously to catch the person responsible ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's not right that judges and their families have to deal with this kind of violence - we need to be vigilant about our own security and look out for each other in our communities ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’•. This incident is a reminder that even in seemingly safe places, anything can happen, so we all need to stay alert and look out for one another ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘ซ.

Man... a judge getting shot at home? That's just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! I remember when politicians were actually protected by Secret Service, now it's up to the cops and county sheriffs to keep them safe... hope they catch whoever did this soon! Judges are like regular people too, you know? They're human beings with families ๐Ÿ˜•. Extra security at the courthouse is a must, no doubt ๐Ÿšซ. Can't let anyone threaten that kind of power... or personal life, I guess ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Oh no, can you believe what's happening in Indiana?! ๐Ÿคฏ A judge and his wife were just trying to live their lives at home and then... BAM! They get shot and wounded in a home invasion! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's so sad that they're having to go through this trauma. As a parent, it's hard not to imagine your own child or partner going through something like that.

I'm glad the police are working together with all the agencies to catch the person responsible, but I also think we need to talk about why this is happening in the first place? ๐Ÿค” Is there something deeper going on here? Are people feeling desperate enough to resort to violence? I wish we could just make our communities safer for everyone.

I'm grateful that Judge Meyer and his wife are stable, but it's not fair that they have to live with this fear now. ๐Ÿ’• My heart goes out to them and their family. Let's all send some positive vibes their way! ๐ŸŒˆ

man this is so messed up ๐Ÿค• my heart goes out to judge meyer & his wife kimberly, hope they make a full recovery ASAP. can't believe some psycho would do this to an innocent family...like what's the point of all that violence? ๐Ÿ’” anyway, glad law enforcement is on top of it ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ don't think anyone should be above the law, including judges ๐Ÿค gotta keep our communities safe, but at the same time, we gotta acknowledge that these things can happen to anyone...no one's immune ๐Ÿ˜•

.. can't believe what's going on in America right now ๐Ÿคฏ. Home invasions are already crazy, but a judge getting shot at his own house? That's just next level ๐Ÿ’€. And the worst part is, they're still investigating who did this and why... poor guy must be shaking like a leaf ๐Ÿ˜‚. Can't even walk down the street without being worried about your life, I guess. And on top of all this, judges are getting threatened too? Like, what's next? Random shootings at grocery stores or something ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Anyway, glad they're stable and everything, but still... hope whoever did this gets caught ASAP ๐Ÿ”.

๐Ÿค• This is just so terrifying. A home invasion that leaves a judge and his wife fighting for their lives is absolutely chilling. I mean, can you imagine walking into your own home and being met with gunfire? The fact that the victims are in stable condition but injured is a miracle. I hope they get the support and care they need to recover fully.

What's even more concerning is the lack of information about potential suspects or motives behind the shooting. It's like, how did this happen? Was it a random act of violence or was there a personal vendetta involved? The investigation is ongoing, but with multiple agencies involved, I'm sure they're working hard to get to the bottom of it.

I'm also worried about the impact on Judge Meyer and his wife's safety. As you said, courts in Tippecanoe County will continue with scheduled cases as normal, which I think is a good move. However, the fact that extra security measures are being put in place at the courthouse tells me that people are taking this very seriously.

I just hope the perpetrator gets caught soon and brought to justice. The community's outpouring of support for the couple is lovely, but it's not going to make up for what they went through. They deserve our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. ๐Ÿ’”

Ugh what a nightmare ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, can't people just leave judges and their families alone? I feel so sorry for Judge Meyer and his wife Kimberly, they're lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ’•. I'm all about supporting the law enforcement agencies that are working hard to catch this person but extra security measures at the courthouse makes sense, right? ๐Ÿค”

I don't know what's going on in Indiana these days, it seems like some people have lost their minds ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. And can we talk about how quickly things escalated in this situation? I mean, one minute they're living their lives and the next... boom! ๐Ÿ’ฅ It's just so sad.

But I'm glad to hear that both Judge Meyer and Kimberly are stable and that law enforcement agencies are taking this seriously ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And let's be real, it's not like we don't know how violent things can get in the world ๐ŸŒŽ. Still, you'd think people would be more careful with their actions ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

The community support is beautiful and I love that Judge Meyer thanked everyone for their kindness โค๏ธ. We should all be so grateful to have people like him who care about keeping our communities safe ๐Ÿ˜Š. Let's send positive vibes to the law enforcement agencies as they work on catching this person ๐ŸŒŸ!

Man, another day, another shooting ๐Ÿค•... like how many times are we gonna see this happen in a small town like Lafayette? It's just crazy that a judge is one of the victims... I mean, you'd think they're safe at home, right? But I guess that's not the case anymore. ๐Ÿ’”

I'm glad to hear that the cops are doing their job and investigating thoroughly, but it's really scary to think about how random this attack was. I bet the family is still shaken up from the whole ordeal... my heart goes out to them ๐Ÿค—.

And yeah, extra security measures at the courthouse is a good idea... you can never be too careful when it comes to safety. I hope the judge and his wife are okay soon ๐Ÿ’ช.

But seriously, can't we just live in peace without all this violence? It feels like every day there's another story about some shooting or other... ๐Ÿคฏ

Man... can't believe what's happening to that judge and his wife ๐Ÿคฏ. First off, hope they're pulling through okay - arm injury is a big deal, but hip injury too? ๐Ÿ˜“ Guess it could've been worse.

Anyway, home invasions are just so messed up. I mean, who does this kind of thing? ๐Ÿค” You'd think someone with that kind of power and influence would have some sense... I'm glad the police are taking it seriously and getting help from all these different agencies - gotta catch those bad guys! ๐Ÿ’ช

And I feel for the judge's family and friends, having to deal with this trauma. Can you even imagine if they'd been worse off? ๐Ÿ˜จ It's just so senseless... hope justice is served soon ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ.

๐Ÿ˜” This is just devastating news... a judge and his wife getting shot in their own home is just too much. It's crazy that they even had to go through something like that. I can only imagine how scared and traumatic it must have been for them, especially with the wife having an injury on her hip. ๐Ÿค•

I do hope the police and investigators are able to catch the person responsible soon. It's great that the judge is showing confidence in the justice system, but it's also understandable that he'd be shaken after something like this. The extra security measures at the courthouse are a good idea, though - you can never be too safe when it comes to protecting judges and their families.

It's also heartening to see the outpouring of support from the community and law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. ๐Ÿ™ It's clear that they're all taking this very seriously, and I appreciate how Chief Justice Rush is speaking out about the importance of safety for judges and their loved ones.

Overall, this just feels like a really senseless act of violence... it's not okay that someone would resort to harming an innocent family in such a way. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

omg can't even believe what happened to that judge and his wife ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ they're so lucky to be alive! i mean, you never think that home invasion could happen anywhere, let alone to a judge's house. how scary is it for judges and their families to know that they're potential targets? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ hope they get the help they need and catch whoever did this soon ๐Ÿ’ช

I think it's crazy that they're still planning on having court stuff go on like normal ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, how can you just ignore the fact that someone tried to shoot a judge at his own home? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ And yet, at the same time, I get that courts have to keep going and all that. It's not like they want to give people more reasons to commit crimes or anything... but also, don't they deserve some kind of special protection after something like this happens? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿค• Just saw the news about Judge Steven Meyer and his wife getting shot in their home invasion ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ˜ฑ can't believe people have no respect for others lives. Poor guy is injured and his wife is lucky to be alive, hope they recover soon ๐Ÿ’• but what's even more disturbing is the fact that courts are still open after this senseless act of violence ๐Ÿคฏ how can we expect justice when there are people like this around? ๐Ÿค” meanwhile, I'm just over here feeling anxious about my own safety at night ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Man I'm still trying to process what happened to Judge Meyer and his wife ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. A home invasion is already so scary but the fact that they were shot at in their own house is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. It's a shame the police can't release any info about suspects yet, that would be super helpful in catching whoever did this ๐Ÿ’”. The community coming together to show support for them means everything, it's great to see people looking out for each other ๐Ÿค. I hope Judge Meyer and his wife make a full recovery soon, they don't deserve to go through this ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

Just when you think a safe home is a guarantee... my heart is still racing thinking about this judge and his wife getting shot at in their own house ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Can't believe the fear they went through, and I hope they're back to normal soon! It's crazy that investigators are working together to catch the person responsible. Extra security measures for judges? That's a good idea, considering how powerful our justice system is ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. What if this had happened in another country, would they have gotten the same treatment? Fingers crossed they do get justice soon ๐Ÿคž

I'm shocked someone would even think it's okay to shoot a judge and his wife in their own home ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, what's next? Invading hospitals or schools? It's just common sense that judges and law enforcement officers are protected from harm. The fact that they're not is terrifying. And don't even get me started on the courthouse security - extra measures should have been in place already ๐Ÿ™„. This kind of violence has to stop, period. I'm glad the victims are stable but this could've ended so much worse ๐Ÿ’”. It's a wake-up call for our community to take safety seriously and report any suspicious activity ASAP ๐Ÿ”Š.
