Katie Boulter seeks to put dismal 2025 in past with help of Sharapova's former coach

Katie Boulter Looks to Regain Form with Sharapova's Former Coach Michael Joyce.

British tennis player Katie Boulter is taking a fresh approach to her season after a tumultuous 2024, which saw her drop from a career-high ranking of No. 23 at the end of 2024 to 113. Desperate for an improvement, she has joined forces with Michael Joyce, the former coach of Maria Sharapova.

Boulter's decision to part ways with her longtime coach Biljana Veselinovic was motivated by her disappointing season in which she struggled with injuries. With Joyce on board, Boulter is hoping to rediscover her best form and return to the top of the WTA Tour.

"I always really liked him," said Boulter about Joyce. "I thought he's done a great job with other players... Jessie [Jessie Pegula], Ashlyn [Krueger]. I feel like he's someone that I didn't get to know much until I spent time with him on court, and I really like his style." The new partnership has so far shown promise as Boulter reported feeling "calm" during their first sessions together.

Boulter will face Belinda Bencic in her main draw debut but is approaching the match with a positive mindset. She believes that having a new coach and setup has given her a fresh start, which she feels is necessary after struggling at the end of last year.

Meanwhile, British tennis player Cameron Norrie will be competing in a grand slam tournament for the first time as the highest-ranked British player. After a resurgent 2024 season where he rose from No. 91 to 28, Norrie said that making good changes with his team helped him build momentum throughout the summer.

Norrie's latest victory over Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters was significant, helping him finish the year on a high note. The British player is now looking forward to facing Benjamin Bonzi in his first round match.

πŸ€” I'm not sure if Boulter made the right call joining Michael Joyce as her coach πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I mean, Sharapova's form has been pretty inconsistent in recent years 😐. And what about Veselinovic? Did she just lose her touch or was it a case of coaching no longer being effective? πŸ’ͺ

im so hyped for katie boulter 🀩! shes been thru so much this year and i feel her needin some new guidance with michael joyce πŸ™Œ. he worked w/ maria sharapova and jessie pegula, so hes def got the skills to get Katie back on top πŸ’ͺ. plus its awesome she found someone who didnt intimidate her or make her feel bad about her game 😊. now lets see if this new partnership brings us some big wins & a return to form for our girl 🎾

😊 So I gotta say, Katie Boulter making this change with Michael Joyce's help seems like a solid move to me πŸ€”. She needs a fresh start and it sounds like she found someone who genuinely understands her game style, ya know? The fact that she was always a fan of his work with other players like Jessie Pegula and Ashlyn Krueger is a big plus ⚾️. And I gotta love the positive vibe she's got going on now - calm and focused during their first sessions together 😌. Let's see how it plays out, but I'm rooting for her to make a comeback! πŸ‘

πŸ€” I'm loving this new coach combo for Katie Boulter, Michael Joyce is supposed to bring a fresh perspective and that's exactly what she needs right now 🎾πŸ’ͺ. I mean, who doesn't love a good turnaround story? She was on top of the world last year and now she's back down to earth 🌍... but with this new setup, maybe we'll see her rise again πŸ”. And can we talk about Cameron Norrie for a sec? That comeback kid is giving me life πŸ’₯! He went from being ranked 91 all the way up to 28, that's some serious momentum building right there πŸ“ˆ. Now let's see if he can keep it up against Benjamin Bonzi... fingers crossed for a Brit win πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸŽ‰

πŸ€” I'm intrigued by Katie Boulter's decision to switch coaches mid-season... like, what happened with Biljana Veselinovic? Was it just about the injury struggles or was there more to it? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And how will this new partnership with Michael Joyce affect her game? Does she think his experience with Maria Sharapova and other players will give her an edge?

As for Cameron Norrie, that resurgence in 2024 is super impressive! He's really shown growth as a player and now he's at a grand slam tournament... the stage is set to see him shine. What are your thoughts on these two? Should they be in our sights this season? 🀞

idk why katie boulter thinks sharapova's former coach michael joyce is gonna be all magic for her game lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ maybe she just needs a change of scenery or something? didn't work out so well with biljana veselinovic last year, but hey at least she's trying new things πŸ€”

I cant even believe how bad Katie Boulter had it last season πŸ€• she went from 23 in the world to 113? that's like me going from loving vinyl records to only listening to streaming services haha πŸ˜‚ anyway seriously though, hiring Michael Joyce is a big move for her and I hope she can turn things around now. i mean, Sharapova had some great years with him so fingers crossed he can do the same for Katie 🀞

omg i'm so hyped for Katie Boulter!!! 🀩 she needs this fresh start and coach change to get back to her best form πŸ’ͺ I've been following her since 2022 and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride but i still have faith in her ⏰ I love how she's taking things one step at a time and focusing on having fun on court 🌞 can't wait to see what this new partnership brings πŸŽ‰

idk what's up with british tennis players lately πŸ€” they all seem like they're struggling or something... cameron norrie went from 91 to 28 last year and that's actually kinda impressive, but he's still not top tier imo πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ anyway, i guess having a new coach helps, katie boulter seems to be feeling more calm with michael joyce on board, so fingers crossed for her 🀞

idk why ppl r so down on Katie Boulter πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ she needs 2 find her own style & not just copy other ppl's strategies, micahel joyce might b a fresh perspective but we cant 4get she dropped from no 23 2 113 lol what happened 2 that girl? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ cameron norrie got lucky w/ them changes 2 his team idk if thats wht made him rise or jus luck 😏

omg i just got back from the most amazing vacation 🌴😎 and i'm still trying to get used to being home lol what's with all these tennis players changing coaches though? like, doesn't it kinda feel weird to have someone new on your team when you're competing against people you've been playing for years πŸ€”? anyway, katie bouller seems nice and all but 113 in the rankings is kinda crazy 😲... i mean, what's going through her head over there? does she even know how to get back into form now? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I THINK IT'S AMAZING TO SEE KATIE BOULTER GETTING A FRESH START WITH MICHAEL JOYCE AS HER COACH!!! SHE REALLY NEEDS IT AFTER LAST YEAR'S STRUGGLES AND I HOPE THIS PARTNERSHIP HELPS HER RECOVER FROM THOSE INJURIES 🀞. CAMERON NORRIE LOOKING STRONG TOO, HE MUST BE SO HAPPY TO BE COMPETING IN A GRAND SLAM FOR THE FIRST TIME! GO BRITISH TENNIS!!! πŸ‘

OMG did Boulter just try and revive her career lol like she went from 23 to 113 in one season that's crazy 🀯 I feel for her tho, injuries can be so frustrating, but now she's got a fresh start which is exactly what she needs πŸ’ͺ Fingers crossed she turns it around and gets back on the WTA tour! As for Norrie, he's been on fire lately, I'm rooting for him to take down Bonzi 🎾

I'm loving the new team-ups in tennis right now 😊! Katie Boulter's decision to shake things up with Michael Joyce's coaching is definitely a bold move, and I think it'll pay off for her. She's been struggling with injuries, but if she can get back on track, she could be a force to be reckoned with again. And Cameron Norrie's resurgence is so inspiring! His ability to make changes with his team really paid off in the end. It's always exciting to see players adapt and come out stronger on the other side. The ladies' draw looks pretty competitive too, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Boulter πŸ˜….

just hope katie boulter can turn her season around 🀞, 113 is way too low for someone with her skills. michael joyce seems like a good coach tho, he did work with sharapova and pegula, so that's some big fish to catch lol. also gotta give props to cameron norrie, rising from no. 91 to 28 is huge! πŸ™Œ
