LeBron James selected as reserve for NBA All-Star game

LeBron James, the 41-year-old star of the Los Angeles Lakers, has been named a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star game. This marks a record-extending 22nd consecutive appearance by the four-time NBA champion at the All-Star event.

Despite missing the first 14 games of the season due to sciatica and averaging just 21.9 points per game this year, James was selected as one of the seven reserves from the Western Conference. His inclusion in the team is a testament to his enduring talent and consistent performance on the court.

When asked about his selection for the All-Star game during a recent press conference, James downplayed any expectations he may have had prior to the season. "It wasn't a goal of mine to come into the season, miss the first 14 games and say, 'OK, I can be an All-Star'," he said.

James' ability to work off the rust from missing pre-season training camp and his summer workouts was key in his return to form on the court. His inclusion in the All-Star game is a welcome surprise for Lakers fans who have been eagerly waiting to see their star player back in action.

With the 2026 NBA All-Star game featuring two teams of players from the United States and one team of international players competing in a round-robin tournament, James will be looking forward to an exciting event. The top two teams will then face off in a championship game, with James hoping to see his team emerge victorious.

The Eastern Conference starters were announced earlier this season, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, and Tyrese Maxey. For the Western Conference, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, Deni Avdija, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Chet Holmgren, and Jamal Murray were chosen as starters.

The NBA All-Star game has been revamped this season, with the added twist of a championship game between the top two teams.

🀩 Man, can you believe LeBron's gonna be at that All-Star game for like 22nd time? πŸ™Œ He's still killin' it on the court, even after all these years. I mean, 41 and averaging only 21.9 points a game is already impressive, but he still managed to work off that rust from missin' some games at the start of the season. That's what separates him from other players - his dedication to trainin' and gettin' back into form. Lakers fans must be over the moon right now! 🐯 The All-Star game is gonna be lit with all these talented players comin' together for a fun tournament, and LeBron's gonna bring that energy. Can't wait to see what happens! πŸ˜ƒ

OMG I'M SO DOWN FOR LEBRON TO BE SELECTED FOR THE ALL STAR GAME AGAIN 🀩πŸ”₯ IT'S LIKE HE NEVER MISSED THOSE FIRST 14 GAMES OR ANYTHING!!! HE'S STILL GOING STRONG AT 41 AND PROOF THAT HE'S ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE LEAGUE!!!

man I'm so hyped for King James 😎 to be back on that court! 22 years in a row is insane, dude πŸ’₯ he's still getting it done and proving all the haters wrong. I love how humble he is about it too, doesn't need any extra credit πŸ™. The Lakers fans have been waiting for him to get back in shape and now they're gonna see their star shine brighter than ever πŸ”₯ this championship game stuff sounds lit too, can't wait to see what the boys are capable of πŸ’ͺ

🀯 I'm not surprised to see King James back in the All-Star mix! He's always brought that fire πŸ’₯ even after missing some time. 22 consecutive appearances is insane πŸ”₯! He's still got it, and his work ethic in the offseason must have paid off πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ. The new format with a championship game sounds like a great addition - can't wait to see him take on Giannis πŸ˜….

🀩 LeBron's 22nd straight All-Star game is insane! He's still dominating the league at 41 πŸ™Œ. I mean, who else can say they've made it to an All-Star game every year for over two decades? πŸ’ͺ The fact that he came back from missing the first 14 games and averaged just 21.9 points per game speaks volumes about his work ethic and dedication πŸ”©. And with the new format this season, where two teams compete in a round-robin tournament before the championship game, I'm hyped to see how it all plays out πŸ€. The fact that Giannis Antetokounmpo was chosen as an Eastern Conference starter is no surprise, but it's cool to see Luka Doncic and Stephen Curry on the Western Conference starting lineup too 😎. Bring on the All-Star game! πŸŽ‰

OMG u guys!! so like i was watching lebron james play last nite and he's literally still got it!!! 41 years old nd hes still crushing it on the court πŸ€―β€β™‚οΈ. i dont think he'll ever stop getting recognized as one of the best players in the league, even when all his teammates r younger lol. anywayz, i'm so hyped for the all-star game this year nd cant wait to see him take home the win for the west coast πŸ†πŸ”₯

πŸ€” I'm not surprised LeBron made it to the 2026 NBA All-Star game despite struggling early on in the season. He's shown time and time again that he can come back from tough starts and still dominate on the court. His work ethic is unreal, especially after missing pre-season training camp and summer workouts. It's awesome for Lakers fans who were worried he'd lose a step with age πŸ™Œ

I love how LeBron downplayed his expectations before the season - it's all about being humble and focused on winning games, not individual accolades πŸ† The new format for the All-Star game is gonna be so much fun, especially with that championship game against the top two teams. Should be an exciting event! πŸŽ‰

πŸ€” I'm not surprised to see LeBron James make it to the 2026 NBA All-Star game, he's still got that magic on the court πŸ‘. But what's really cool is that they're mixing things up with the new format πŸ”„. The round-robin tournament should add an extra layer of excitement to the event 🀩. I do wish they'd consider some player rotation for the championship game though, it feels like it might be a bit too intense for some of these superstars 😬.

🀩 LeBron James is still crushing it at 41! He's got that work ethic from back in the day and he's still producing. I think his return to form was pretty impressive considering he missed some games due to injury πŸ₯. Now, I'm not one for team sports, but this All-Star game thing seems like a lot of fun πŸŽ‰. The format change with the championship game sounds interesting πŸ€”. Can't wait to see what the 2026 game brings! πŸ‘€

man... lebron james still got it 🀩 but 41? i know he's a legend and all, but can't we just say he's getting old for real πŸ˜‚. 22nd straight all-star game is crazy, but at some point he gotta hang up the sneakers, you feel me? and 21.9 points per game this year? that's still solid, but not exactly setting the world on fire πŸ”₯. i'm hyped for him to show up and play well in the all-star game tho πŸŽ‰. can't wait to see what he does against those international teams πŸ’ͺ
