Martin Chivers was a heavyweight Spurs legend with the heart of a poet

omg i cant believe martin chivers didnt get the recognition he deserved back in the day 🤷‍♂️! he was like a genius on the pitch, always finding space and creating chances for his teammates... and let's be real, who can forget that iconic goal-scoring streak? 💥 100 goals in under five years is no joke! but what really gets me is how underrated he was off the field too 🤔. he struggled with fame and pressure, which is so relatable. i wish we had more info about his mental health struggles back then... it's a shame he didn't get the support he needed 💔. anyway, its great to see his legacy live on in tottenham, and as an ambassador for the club - he's still a fan fave in my eyes 😊

Ugh, I'm so done with these old news articles 🙄. Can't we talk about something relevant for once? 😒 Anyway, back to Chivers... I mean, he was pretty cool, I guess. Who wouldn't want a striker who's like 30 and can score goals for fun? 🤷‍♂️ And the fact that Nicholson took a chance on him is pretty impressive. But what really gets me is how much pressure he had to deal with after becoming famous. Tranquillisers before matches? That's some extra baggage, fam... 😴

And don't even get me started on the England squad debacle 🙈. I mean, Poland, right? What a qualifying draw. Anyway, Chivers' legacy is still cool, I guess. The fact that he became an ambassador for Spurs is pretty sweet. But can we please talk about something else now? This ancient history stuff is so... so... *yawn* 😴

I'm still amazed by the story of Martin Chivers 🤯. He was like a total game-changer for Tottenham back in the 70s. I mean, who needs a traditional centre-forward when you've got a striker with brains and brawn? 💡 His partnership with Gilzean was pure magic, and that physical presence he developed over time was just intimidating 🤸‍♂️. It's crazy to think about how far he came from being a £125k signing, but Bill Nicholson knew what he was doing, right? 😎

🤣 so they're saying Martin Chivers was like the anti-Bobby Smith but in a good way 🙄 like he didn't have to be all flashy and whatnot, just got it done with that game sense and strength 💪 and I'm low-key impressed that he won a league title in Switzerland after leaving Spurs 🏆 Servette's got some great history, btw. And omg, tranquillisers before matches? 😂 like, that's some high-stakes superstition right there 👀 Chivers' relationship with Nicholson was all kinds of complicated, but I love how they're still on good terms to this day 💕 and can you even imagine being a fan favourite at Spurs after retiring in 82? 🙃

I think what's really cool about Martin Chivers is how he defied expectations as a striker. All people expected some superstar forward but instead he brought that game intelligence & physical strength to the table. It was almost like he was reading the game & then executing.

His partnership with Gilzean was key, they were like two peas in a pod on the pitch. And Chivers' leadership skills were top-notch. He inspired his team & intimidated opponents at the same time.

And yeah, it's no secret that Chivers struggled with fame & pressure. He needed help with anxiety but he still managed to achieve so much.

He may not have been the most glamorous player but his legacy lives on in Tottenham & England football.
