Middlesbrough manager search: Hammarby IF head coach Kim Hellberg on Championship club's radar amid Swansea interest

Middlesbrough are closing in on Swedish coach Kim Hellberg as they look to strengthen their managerial ranks ahead of the new season.

Hellberg, 37, had been touted as Swansea City's top target after the departure of Alan Sheehan. The Welsh club were keen to land the highly-regarded young coach, who has a proven track record in developing young players and leading teams with an exciting attacking style.

However, Hellberg is now reportedly on Middlesbrough's radar, with the Championship club making him their number one target after losing Rob Edwards to Wolves last week. The Boro board are said to be impressed by Hellberg's abilities, having watched him impress other clubs in England and Sweden.

Hellberg has been granted permission by Hammarby to travel to the UK for talks with clubs, but the Swedish side also offered him a new deal in an attempt to keep him at the helm. He currently has one year left on his contract with Hammarby, who had planned to offer him an extension after he took the club to second place in the Swedish top flight.

Hellberg is known for his ability to bring through young players and develop them into top performers. At Hammarby, he's been instrumental in creating a team that has scored over 60 goals in the past season and boasts one of the highest expected goal totals (xGF) in their division.

The Middlesbrough board will be keen to discuss Hellberg's availability with Swansea City, who are also reportedly looking at other Championship clubs for a new head coach.

🤔 this is some big news! i think middlesbrough would be crazy not to go for hellberg he's got a great track record of developing young players and his attacking style sounds super exciting 🚀 especially with rob edwards just leaving they need someone who can bring that spark back to the team. 60 goals in a season is no joke too, if i'm being honest, i'd be a bit surprised if swansea city aren't at least considering hellberg as well 🤷‍♂️

I don't know about this, I mean... Middlesbrough wanting Kim Hellberg might seem like a good move, but what if he leaves them after just one season? 🤔 That could be tough for the team and fans, you feel? And Swansea City were really keen on him before, so it's not like they're going to give up on him that easily. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out... it's not always easy to know what's best for a club, right? 🤷‍♂️

idk why hellberg is even botherin, Swansea had him pegged and now theyre just gonna chase other coaches 🤷‍♂️. i mean im not sayin hes not good but mids is like the 5th most desperate team in england atm 👎. kim hellberg deserves better than bein offered a second place finisher job 💸. he shouldve held out for hammarby or somethin instead of gettin all excited about mids 🤔.

I dont get it why they need another manager, like whats wrong with the last one? 🤔 And now they're looking at some Swedish guy who has only been around for like 2 years? I mean, he's good and all but is he really ready to handle a team like Middlesbrough? They've had so many managers come and go in the past few years. What makes this one any different? 🤷‍♂️ And whats with Swansea City trying to poach him too? Can't they see they're getting played? 😒

omg i just got back from the most epic gaming session with my friends 🤩 and now im thinking about football again lol why do teams have so many different managers? cant they just stick to one person? 😂 anyway i heard kim hellberg is really good at developing young players... does he have any famous protégés or something? 🤔

OMG u guys I'm literally so excited about this news!! 😍 So i was just chatting with my friend who's into football and she's been saying that Middlesbrough need a coach like Kim Hellberg ASAP 🤩 I mean, his track record is insane! he's got this amazing ability to develop young players and get them to score goals for fun ⚽️ I've seen some of the highlights from Hammarby and it looks like he's just magic on the pitch ✨ Plus, Swansea City were supposed to be after him but now Middlesbrough are in the running 🤔 what do u think guys? should Hellberg go to Middlesbrough or stick with his current club? 😁
