. This blood shortage is super concerning and it's all because of this winter storm 
. Like, can't we have nice weather for once? 
It's already been tough to stay motivated about donating blood what with the flu season still lingering around... now this? 
I mean, hospitals are basically running out of blood and it's super scary for patients who need transfusions... surgeries, cancer treatments, etc. The fact that they're offering gift cards is a good start, but I think we should be doing more to support our local blood centers

. The American Red Cross is offering gift cards to donors, but come on, it should be more than just a token gesture 
. Can't we do better than this? I'm not saying I have all the answers, but seriously, how hard is it to get people to donate blood?! It's like, step up and help out, you know? 
this is insane! I cant believe winter storm fern had such bad effects on new jersey's blood supply. 40% decline since holidays? that's crazy! and now it's rock bottom 
what's going on?! are people really too scared to donate during a snowstorm?

Like, people need life-saving transplants and surgeries and what do they get? A snow day for the patients? 
Not cool.
I mean, what's really going to motivate people to give blood when it's freezing outside? 
I just wish they'd figure out a way to get more people donating without relying on gimmicks like this.
The flu season and all that? It's not like it's just a random snowstorm. 
It's not fair to patients who need life-saving treatments
