"Narco sub" sinks with drugs on board after record amount of cocaine seized from vessel off the Azores

Portuguese authorities have made a record-breaking seizure of cocaine, with nearly 9 tons of the illicit substance found on board a semi-submersible craft intercepted off the Azores archipelago. The vessel, dubbed a "narco sub," sank in the open seas after a daring operation by police, the navy, air force, and authorities from the UK and US.

The cargo of cocaine is described as the largest ever seized in Portugal, with 35 of 300 packages of the drug being recovered from the wreckage. The seizure was made possible through an international effort, involving cooperation between Portuguese law enforcement agencies, naval and air forces, as well as units from the US and UK.

According to authorities, the narco sub originated in Latin America, carrying three Colombians and a Venezuelan on board. The vessel had been tracked by police after nearly 6.5 tons of cocaine were seized off the Azores last March. The most recent seizure is believed to be part of a larger operation to disrupt international drug trafficking.

Narco subs have long been used by traffickers to transport cocaine from Colombia to Central America and Mexico, but in recent years they have begun sailing farther afield, with routes crossing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. These vessels are often built in clandestine jungle shipyards and can be deadly for those involved, as was seen in 2023 when a narco sub carrying two dead bodies and nearly 3 tons of cocaine was seized off the coast of Colombia.

The latest seizure highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt global narcotics trafficking networks. As authorities continue to target these vessels and dismantle their operations, it remains to be seen whether this will mark a turning point in the fight against narco subs and international drug crime.

I'm kinda thinking that this is a huge deal ๐Ÿค”, but also kinda worried that we're just chasing our tails here ๐ŸŒŠ... I mean, think about it, we've been tracking these narco subs for ages, and now we seize nearly 9 tons of coke, but what's the real motive behind all this? Is it really just to stop the flow of cocaine or is there more to it? And what about those three Colombians and a Venezuelan on board - are they just pawns in a larger game? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

And let's not forget that narco subs can be deadly, but we're basically paying these guys to build them in the first place ๐Ÿ’ธ... It's like, how do we stop people from making money off of smuggling when it's so lucrative? We gotta think outside the box here ๐Ÿ“ฆ and come up with some creative solutions. But at the same time, I don't want to see our efforts just creating more problems down the line โš ๏ธ... It's like, we're caught in this never-ending cycle ๐Ÿ”„, and I'm not sure if we'll ever find a way out ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿค” I mean, come on... 9 tons of cocaine is crazy, right? ๐Ÿคฏ But at the same time, like, how do you even get that kind of stuff into a semi-submersible craft without it being totally obvious? ๐Ÿšซ I'm not buying the story about it just being a coincidence that these narco subs are getting busted left and right... ๐Ÿค‘

And don't even get me started on the international cooperation thing. Like, what's the real motivation here? Is it really just to help out Portugal or is there more to it? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, we're basically talking about a global game of cat and mouse with these narco subs... how long can this cat chase last before everyone just gives up? ๐Ÿ˜ด

Plus, what about the 35 packages that were recovered from the wreckage? How do you even transport that many packages without anyone noticing? ๐Ÿค” It's like, some people are just experts at being sneaky or something... ๐Ÿ˜‚

OMG, like, isn't it amazing how all those countries came together to take down this massive narco sub? ๐ŸŒŸ It's literally a testament to international cooperation! The fact that they were able to track down 35 packages of cocaine from the wreckage is just incredible โ€“ and can you believe the sheer amount of coke seized? Nearly 9 tons?! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ That's, like, whoa! And it's not just about the numbers; it's also about the bravery of the people involved in this operation. I mean, taking down a vessel that's literally sailing through treacherous waters is no easy feat! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿคฏ Like, can you even imagine the number of times that semi-submersible craft had to dodge naval ships and planes to get that massive haul of cocaine across the ocean? It's wild how these "narco subs" have become like modern-day pirate ships, carrying huge loads of illicit goods between continents.

And let's talk about the international cooperation - it's truly awesome to see countries from the US, UK, and Portugal working together to take down a global narcotics trafficking operation. The three Colombians and one Venezuelan on board are probably getting some serious questions from their governments right now. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

It's also interesting to note how narco subs have evolved over time - they're not just for Colombia to Central America anymore; they're sailing across the Atlantic, Pacific... it's like they're trying to take over the world (minus the whole 'ruling with an iron fist' thing). But seriously, this is a major blow to global narcotics trafficking networks. Fingers crossed that law enforcement can keep up the pressure and help bring these operations down for good ๐Ÿคž

I'm thinking about how crazy those narco subs are lol ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, they're basically like pirates of the sea but instead of treasure they're carrying tons of cocaine. And the fact that it's a record-breaking seizure is just insane! Portugal must be super proud of their authorities for getting involved in this massive operation ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ. It's wild to think about how far those vessels are traveling, crossing oceans and all, to get that cocaine to its final destination ๐ŸŒŠ. We can only hope it disrupts the global trafficking networks and makes it harder for them to operate ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’จ

this is crazy 9 tons of coke who makes that kinda cash ?? ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿšข i feel bad for those 3 colombians and the venezuelan who got caught up in all this, they prob didn't even know what they were getting into ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ the fact that narco subs are gettin built in secret jungles is wild, like a real-life game of grand theft auto ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm telling you, something fishy's going on here ๐Ÿค”. First of all, why did they have to involve the US and UK? It seems like they're just trying to distract us from the real issue - those narco subs are still a huge problem. I mean, what's with the weird operation to sink the thing in the middle of nowhere? Sounds like they wanted to cover their tracks ๐Ÿšซ.

And have you ever noticed how these seizures always seem to coincide with some major government operation or event? It's like they're trying to make it look like they're doing something about narco subs, but really they just want to keep us calm while the real action goes on behind the scenes. I'm not saying there isn't a problem, but come on, let's not be fooled by this convenient timing ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And what about those 35 packages of cocaine? That's a lot of... "recyclable materials" ๐Ÿ’€. Just sayin', it doesn't add up. I'm not saying it's definitely a conspiracy or anything, but you can bet your bottom dollar that there's more to this story than meets the eye ๐Ÿ”.

omg like what's up with these semi-submersible crafts?? they're literally like underwater hotels for smugglers ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿšข 9 tons of cocaine is a crazy haul tho, i mean it's not just money laundering anymore, it's full-on global organized crime ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ธ we gotta keep our navies and law enforcement working together to keep these ships from popping up outta nowhere ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

I mean come on... 9 tons of cocaine? That's just insane! They're like, totally disrupting global trafficking networks or what? The fact that these narco subs are getting bolder by the day is wild. Like, they used to be limited to Colombia to Central America and Mexico, but now they're sailing all over the Atlantic and Pacific? That's some serious organized crime stuff right there... ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿšข
