NYC's Village Halloween Parade steps off Friday night: What to know

New York's Village Halloween Parade Returns with a Twist: 'It's a Potluck'

The annual spectacle is set to kick off on Friday night, attracting hundreds of thousands of revelers dressed in their most creative costumes. This year's event has taken on a unique theme – literally – as organizers have dubbed it "It's a Potluck," emphasizing the importance of sharing food and coming together.

As one of the world's largest Halloween parades, Village Halloween Parade promises an unforgettable experience for those who brave the crowds. City Harvest will serve as the grand marshal, highlighting the organization's mission to collect and distribute surplus food to those in need. The parade route stretches from Canal Street to 15th Street on Sixth Avenue.

Chief of Patrol Phillip Rivera has warned that with a reduced workweek and school break looming, attendance is expected to be high – and possibly lively. However, law enforcement will be present in greater numbers to ensure public safety. Spectators can catch the action on NY1 television and stream it live at 8 p.m.

Those looking for a more exclusive experience can purchase tickets starting at $125, which grant access to skip-the-line entry, secret backstage viewing areas, and even exclusive band lineup spots. Early arrivals are recommended, as well as consideration of arriving as early as 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, those who prefer a less crowded scene will be able to watch the parade on TV or online at 8 p.m.

Beyond the parade itself, organizers have set their sights on a spooky celebration known as the "Vampire Ball." While tickets for this event are sold out, fans of dark magic can look forward to late-night revelry hosted by House of Yes in Industry City, Brooklyn.

omg i love that village halloween parade is back 🎃👻 and they're adding a potluck twist? how cool is that? 🤩 it's all about sharing food and coming together, which sounds like the perfect vibe for a spooky night out. and yay for city harvest being the grand marshal! 🙌 i'm actually thinking of getting tix to skip the line and check out the secret backstage spots - anyone know how much they're worth? 🤑

OMG you guys 🤯 I am SOOOO hyped for this year's Village Halloween Parade!!! It's like, the whole community is coming together with food and stuff which is literally the best vibe ever 😊 I love how they're incorporating City Harvest as the grand marshal - it's just so heartwarming to see all these people care about each other 🤗. But omg the crowd control? Like, we can't even be safe anymore 😂 I mean I know Phillip Rivera is trying to keep everyone in line but like, come on NYC how are we supposed to let loose and have some fun without a few extra people getting rowdy 🍻?! And ugh the prices for tickets? Like $125?! That's just crazy! Who can afford that?! 😂 But I guess if you're all about skipping the lines and getting the VIP treatment then go for it girl 💁‍♀️. For me though, I'm gonna be right up front with my squad 🎉 and we'll be dancing the night away 🕺🏻... or maybe just waiting in line for a hot minute 🤣

idk why they gotta make it a potluck tho 🤔 like what's wrong with just having a normal parade lol? i mean im all for sharing and stuff but come on. and dont even get me started on the prices... $125 to skip the line? that's wild! should be free or somethin' 😒. also, who thought it was a good idea to host a vampire ball at industry city? 🏙️ that just sounds like a whole other headache

OMG, I'm so hyped for the Village Halloween Parade this year! 🎃👻 It's always a blast but this 'It's a Potluck' theme is genius 🤩. Who says you can't have fun and share with others at the same time? 🍴💕 Plus, it's all about community, right? 👫 Let's get together, show off our creative costumes, and support City Harvest 🎉. And don't even get me started on the Vampire Ball - I'm so down for some spooky vibes 💃🕷️. Tickets might be pricey but it's worth it for an epic night out with friends 🤜🤛 #VillageHalloweenParade #PotluckParty #SpookySeason #CommunityFirst

omg I'm so down for this year's Village Halloween Parade! 🎃🕷️ I mean, who doesn't love a good potluck, right? It's like the whole community is coming together to share some spooky fun and good vibes. And can you imagine all those creative costumes? 😍 The fact that City Harvest is being honored as the grand marshal just adds to the awesomeness – spreading kindness and food to those in need is something we should all be proud of ❤️. Plus, it's like the organizers are saying, "Hey, let's celebrate this time of year with a focus on community and sharing!" It's all about positivity vibes at this parade! 🌈

I'M SO STOKED THAT THE VILLAGE HALLOWEEN PARADE IS BACK!!! IT'S GOING TO BE EPIC THIS YEAR WITH A POTLUCK TWIST 🤪🎃🍴. I mean who doesn't love a good potluck? It's all about sharing food and vibes, right? And can you believe the grand marshal is CITY HARVEST?! That's so awesome! They're doing such amazing work to collect surplus food for those in need.

I'm a little worried about the crowds though 🤯. I don't know if I want to brave the masses or stick to watching it on TV, but at least they've got law enforcement looking out for us. And who wouldn't want to see some exclusive band lineup spots?! That's the stuff!

OMG u guys I'm literally stoked 4 this year's Village Halloween Parade 🎃👻 it's gonna be SO lit! And I love the "It's a Potluck" twist, sharing food & vibes is the ultimate way to come together 💕. City Harvest as grand marshal is, like, so cool - spreading awareness about food insecurity is everything 🍴. And can we talk about Phillip Rivera's warning? Attendance is gonna be HIGHEST, but law enforcement is ready for it 🚔. Skippin' the line & gettin' exclusive access for $125 tho, IDK if I'm there or not 😂. Anyone have fave costumes 4 this year?

ugh I cant even imagine how overcrowded it's gonna be at the village Halloween parade this year 🤯👻 with a potluck theme that's just gonna make everyone bring their own snacks and stuff... what if someone brings a hot dog that's too spicy for everyone else? or like, someone shows up with a huge bowl of something and spills it all over the street 🚮💦 meanwhile they're saying it's about sharing food and coming together... it sounds like more trouble than fun to me 😒

I'm tellin' ya, back in my day we didn't need all these fancy ticket prices and VIP access to enjoy a good Halloween parade 🎃👻! Just bringin' yer A-game with the most creative costume and be ready to party 💃🏽🕷️. But I guess that's just progress, right? 😊 Still think it's awesome that City Harvest is gettin' some love as the grand marshal, though 🙌. And I'm down for a good potluck – share the love and all that 🍲👫. Just hope the cops can keep up with the crowds, 'cause I've heard Phillip Rivera warnin' about things gettin' a little wild 😜. Guess you could say it's gonna be a real "smorgasbord" of fun! 🎉

I'm so down for a potluck Halloween party 🎃! But seriously, I think it's dope that they're incorporating the whole sharing food thing into the parade. We need more community vibes like this in our city. And hey, I love that NY1 is broadcasting it live – gonna be so lit on TV! The secret backstage viewing areas and exclusive band lineup spots sound like a dream come true 🎸. Can't wait to see all the creativity and self-expression on display. One thing though, hope they have plenty of vegan options available for everyone 🤷‍♀️🌱.
