Oscar Piastri has already reached his limit in F1 title battle against Lando Norris, says Jacques Villeneuve

Oscar Piastri has reached his limit in his pursuit of the Formula One drivers' championship, according to 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve. The Australian driver had built a significant lead in the title race earlier this season, but has since struggled to maintain his form, with several podium finishes missing and some frustrating crashes.

Villeneuve believes that Piastri was already at his limit when he started struggling, and that he may have become complacent as a result. "When you drive within the limit, the car is perfect," Villeneuve said. "It's easy, you drive, you save your tires. And suddenly, you have to go a couple of tenths faster. You can't drive the car anymore."

Piastri has crashed out of qualifying and the race in Azerbaijan, and also had an incident with teammate Lando Norris at Austin that sent him spinning into the barriers. Villeneuve believes that these incidents may have shaken Piastri's confidence, and that he is struggling to regain his form.

Martin Brundle, a former F1 driver and current Sky Sports commentator, agrees that Piastri has lost some of his confidence, but insists that McLaren will be eager for him to return to form. "Rest assured, a team doesn't spend $400m a year and have 1,500 employees and try to make one of their cars go a little bit more slowly," Brundle said.

With four rounds remaining in the season, Piastri faces a tough task if he is to regain his title lead. The championship is currently within Piastri's grasp, but Norris is closing in on him. Villeneuve is unsure whether Piastri will be able to find the form to overturn the deficit. "It just takes your team-mate to step up a little bit," Villeneuve said. "And you're realising, 'oh, how do I do that?' And suddenly, you drive tensed up, nothing works."

The stage is set for an intense title battle at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix this weekend. With Piastri struggling to regain his form and Norris closing in on him, it promises to be a thrilling finish to the season.

omg, i feel like piastri's in a tough spot πŸ€”πŸŽοΈ... if he can't even drive within his limit, how's he gonna catch up with norris? πŸš—πŸ˜¬ and villeneuve makes some good points about complacency, but it's hard not to wonder if the pressure's getting to piastri πŸ˜…πŸ’ͺ... either way, this weekend's gonna be EPIC πŸ’₯πŸŽ‰

I think Oscar's struggles are a good reminder that even when you're doing great, it's easy to get complacent πŸ€”. When I was competing in sports back in the day, I used to get so caught up in winning that I'd start taking things for granted πŸ˜’. But my coach always told me, "Champions don't take anything for granted, they raise their standards." It sounds like Oscar needs to do just that - push himself harder and expect more from his team πŸš€.

It's also interesting to see how the team dynamics play out. I've seen it happen in other sports too - when you have a strong team behind you, but something goes wrong, it can be tough to get back on track πŸ’ͺ. McLaren needs to find a way to give Oscar more confidence and support, and fast ⏰! The stakes are high this weekend at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 🎬.

πŸ€” I feel like Oscar Piastri's struggles are kinda relatable? Like, when you're on top of your game, everything just feels so easy, but then suddenly, you have to take it to the next level and it gets all hard again 🏎️😬. And yeah, complacency can be a real thing - I've been there too with my favorite childhood shows, where I'm like "oh, I've seen this one a million times, I know exactly what's gonna happen" πŸ˜‚... but then something unexpected happens and it just blows your mind all over again 🀯.

And Martin Brundle makes some good points about McLaren wanting Piastri to do well - those guys must be itching for him to get back on track 🏎️πŸ’ͺ. But at the same time, Norris is closing in, so it's gonna be a tough one for Piastri to regain his lead... can he pull off the comeback and win the championship? πŸ€” I'm kinda rooting for him πŸ™Œ

yeah im thinkin piastri might have been gettin too comfortable at the top of the table... Villeneuve makes some good points about how easy it is when you're driving within your limits, but piastri's still got 4 rounds left to turn things around πŸ€”. Brundle's right tho, mclaren won't just sit back and watch piastri blow his chances away πŸ’ͺ. Norris is definitely closing in tho, so we'll see how this plays out at sao paulo... might be a real nail-biter! 😬

Idk how much more of this Piastri drama i can take 😩 he was doing so well, but now he's just losing steam πŸš‚πŸ‘Ž Villeneuve is totally right though - when you're already at your limit, it's hard to push further 🚫 and now Norris is coming for him πŸ’ͺ that Sao Paulo GP is gonna be LIT πŸ”₯ can't wait to see what happens!

I remember when F1 was all about raw talent & aggression 🏎️! Nowadays, it's like they're overthinking everything 😳. Oscar Piastri was on fire at first, but I guess the pressure got to him πŸ’₯. The thing is, he was already good enough to win, but then he had to push himself even more πŸ”₯. Now, he's struggling & losing focus 🀯.

I mean, what Jacques Villeneuve said about driving within his limit makes sense πŸ€”. When you're that good, it's easy to coast on autopilot 😴. But Piastri needs to find that edge again πŸ”ͺ. McLaren's going to be rooting for him hard πŸ’ͺ, but Norris is closing in fast ⏩! This SΓ£o Paulo GP is gonna be a real nail-biter 😲...

come on piastri πŸ™„, if u r really gonna blow ur championship lead like dis, u gotta be honest w/ urself n tell yerself u need 2 step up ur game! πŸ’ͺ villeneuve's right tho, when u get complacent, the car gets perfect but ur mental state takes a hit 😴. and Norris better bring his A-game this weekend or else piastri's gonna leave him in the dust 🏎️

OMG 🀯 I'm so confused about Oscar Piastri's struggles 😩. One minute he's crushing it, next minute he's spinning out of control πŸ’₯. I think Villeneuve might be right though πŸ€”... maybe Piastri was getting too comfortable? It's like he went from a Ferrari to a Vespa πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ and lost all the speed! πŸ˜… I'm worried for him, but at the same time, it's gonna be EPIC ⚑️ if Norris catches up. The title battle is gonna be so intense this weekend πŸ”₯!
