Philadelphia Art Museum adds Pay What You Wish Friday nights for ‘Dreamworld’

Philadelphia Art Museum Offers 'Dreamworld' Pay What You Wish Nights Ahead of Exhibition Closure

In a move to make art more accessible, the Philadelphia Art Museum is introducing "Pay What You Wish" nights for its highly anticipated exhibition, "Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100." The program, which offers flexible admission after 5 pm on select Friday evenings, will be available for the final three weeks of the show's run.

Starting January 30, February 6, and February 13, visitors can attend the museum's evening hours with no fixed ticket price. This unique offering is part of the museum's long-standing Pay What You Wish program, which has been a staple in Philadelphia's cultural scene for years.

To complement the exhibition, each "Pay What You Wish" night will feature live music from local DJ yōsukeDj, light bites, and a surreal-themed cocktail. The atmosphere will be akin to the museum's popular Friday Nights events, with limited capacity and an 8:15 pm last entry recommended.

The February 6th event will also include a special performance by the Philadelphia Ballet, exploring themes of physical and emotional connection through their short work "Connection." On February 13th, which coincides with the museum's Black History Month celebration, attendees can expect live music, pop-up art experiences, and community partners on site.

The exhibition itself is a rare opportunity to explore the evolution of surrealism over more than a century. With national attention and only its US stop in Philadelphia, this event promises to be an unforgettable experience for visitors.

I'm so down for that 🤩! Pay what you wish nights are literally the best thing ever - it's like the museum is giving people the freedom to enjoy art without any financial stress or guilt. And can we talk about how cool it is that they're partnering with local artists and musicians? The February 6th event sounds especially special, I love that it'll feature a performance by the Philadelphia Ballet 🎭. It's amazing that they're making this exhibition so accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or income. And who wouldn't want to experience a surreal-themed cocktail bar on top of that? 😊

I mean, can you imagine attending an art exhibit without worrying about draining your wallet 💸🎨? It's like they're saying, "Hey, art shouldn't break the bank!" 🤷‍♀️ And I'm all for that, especially considering how pricey some of these exhibits can get. The idea of paying what you wish is genius 😊... wait, doesn't that remind me of how we used to do pay-what-you-wish nights at the Met in New York back in 2020? 🤔 Those were always super chill and I loved it. Anyway, this Philadelphia exhibit sounds like a blast 🎉! The live music and performances sound so cool 💃🕺

omg i'm low-key hyped about the Philly Art Museum's "Pay What You Wish" nights 🤩💖 starting soon! it's like they're totally getting what's up with making art more accessible and stuff. i mean, who doesn't love free or cheap museum visits? 🎨👍 especially when it's for a sick exhibition like "Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100" - that's some next level art right there! 😲

and the vibe of these events sounds so lit 🎶🍴 they're gonna have local DJ yōsukeDj spinning tunes, light bites to munch on, and surreal-themed cocktails that sound straight fire 🔥

i'm also super excited for the special performance by the Philadelphia Ballet on Feb 6th - "Connection" is a theme i can get behind 💕, and who knows what other amazing experiences they'll have set up on Feb 13th during Black History Month? 🎉

idk why ppl pay full price 2 go see some art lol. if u wanna support the museum tho, just pay wut u can 🤑... or better yet, bring ur friends & make it a night out 😂. btw, who needs live music & pop-up art when u got da real deal - da art itself? 💁‍♀️

😊 I think it's so cool that the Philly Art Museum is doing this! It's like they're saying "hey, art should be accessible to everyone" 🎨 You know how some people might not be able to afford museum tickets, but if you have a flexible income or just want to bring the whole family, this pay-what-you-wish thing is a total game-changer 🤩. It's like they're taking that old phrase "art for all" literally 🙌. I'm also loving the live music and food vibes on these special nights 🎶🍰...and of course, who wouldn't want to check out some surreal art with a performance by the Philly Ballet? 💃💥

I wonder if they'll have enough seats for all those people... or will it get super crowded? 🤔 I mean, who doesn't love paying what you want, right? It's like, the museum is trying to say that art should be for everyone, not just rich people 😊. But, um, have you ever been to the Philly Art Museum? It's really beautiful, especially at night when it's all lit up 💡. I'm actually thinking of going there soon... what can I expect from this "Dreamworld" exhibit? 🤔

OMG I'M SO DOWN FOR THESE "PAY WHAT YOU WISH" NIGHTS 🤩🎨 IT'S ABOUT TIME MORE MUSEUMS STARTED MAKING ART ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE! 💖 I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T WANT TO EXPLORE A SURREALISM EXHIBITION WITH NO BORING TICKET PRICES?! 😂💸 I'M ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO THOSE LIVE MUSIC SETS AND COCKTAILS 🎶🍹 AND THE FACT THAT THERE'S A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE BY THE PHILADELPHIA BALLET ON FEBRUARY 6TH IS JUST THE ICING ON THE CAKE 🍰💃

I'm not entirely sure about these "Pay What You Wish" nights 🤑... I mean, sounds nice on paper, but how do they plan to make it work? Is the museum really making a loss or is it just a clever PR stunt? 🤔 And what's up with the DJ and live music? Is that just an extra fee tacked on? 💸 Also, I'd love to see some financial reports from the museum about how this program has been going in the past. What are the numbers looking like? Are they actually breaking even or is it a money-losing venture? 📊

I'm so down for these Pay What You Wish nights at the Philly Art Museum 🎨🕺. It's about time we made art more accessible to everyone, you know? I mean, who doesn't love a good excuse to go out and enjoy some surreal vibes with friends or just on your own 🤔. But, gotta say, it's kinda cool that they're keeping the prices flexible for these events - it's not like they're just giving away free passes or anything 😜.

I'm actually super stoked about the February 6th event with the Philadelphia Ballet - their performances always bring so much emotion and depth to the art 🌹. And, of course, who doesn't love a good cocktail (or three) while surrounded by all that surreal goodness 🍹.

One thing I hope they don't skimp on is the live music - yōsukeDj's beats should totally get the crowd moving 💃. And can we talk about how awesome it is that this event coincides with Black History Month? It's a great way to celebrate diversity and community 🎉. Overall, I'm so excited for these Pay What You Wish nights - they're gonna be a blast! 😆
