Powerful storm starts hitting an East Coast still buried under last week's snow

Tens of thousands of homes and businesses across the US East Coast remained without power on Saturday, as a powerful storm system brought heavy snow and frigid temperatures to the region. The storm, dubbed a "bomb cyclone" by meteorologists, had caused widespread disruptions, including hundreds of accidents and dozens of deaths in previous storms.

Heavy snowfall was expected in parts of the Carolinas, Virginia, and northeast Georgia over the weekend, with up to a foot of snow predicted in some areas. Blizzard conditions were also forecast for the region, bringing strong winds and low visibility.

The storm had already caused major travel disruptions, with over 2,400 US flights canceled on Saturday alone. In Florida, temperatures plummeted to -27 degrees Fahrenheit in West Virginia, while in other parts of the state, residents braced for several inches of snow by Sunday.

The National Weather Service warned that frigid temperatures would persist into February, with subfreezing conditions expected across much of the East Coast. Officials advised against venturing outside, citing dangers from frostbite and hypothermia.

The Southeast had seen severe weather in recent days, including a storm that caused dozens of deaths and left tens of thousands without power. Many areas are still struggling to recover, with power outages still affecting homes and businesses.

As the storm continued to impact the region, residents were facing growing concerns about safety and access to basic necessities. In some areas, authorities were working to clear roads and restore services, while in others, communities were bracing for the worst. The National Guard had been deployed in several states to assist with recovery efforts.

Ugh, this bomb cyclone is just another excuse for people to be lazy πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, who needs to shovel snow when you can just stay inside and collect a paycheck? πŸ€‘ And don't even get me started on the power outages – just great, now we'll all be stuck in the dark, literally. ⚑️ It's like the government is waiting for us to freeze to death or something πŸ˜’.

And what really gets my goat is that everyone's talking about how "courageous" it is for the National Guard to deploy to help with recovery efforts πŸ™„. Like, good luck to them – they'll need it when they have to deal with all the entitled snow-day scammers who think the world owes them a blanket and a hot chocolate β˜•οΈ.

And have you seen the ridiculous weather forecasts? "Up to a foot of snow" this, and "blizzard conditions" that πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I bet none of it will actually happen – just another excuse for the weather service to get their facts wrong and make us all look like fools πŸ“Ί.

I'm just waiting for the part where everyone's talking about how great they are for staying safe in their homes, when really they're just going stir-crazy from boredom 😴. This storm is going to be a long week...

omg like literally can't believe how severe that storm is 🀯 it's so crazy that they're expecting up to a foot of snow and blizzard conditions 😱 i'm glad my school isn't cancelled yet, but i feel bad for all the students who have to deal with this kinda weather at home ❄️ we were supposed to have a big test today, but i hope it gets rescheduled or moved online πŸ“šπŸ˜… i just wish everyone stays safe and warm during this storm β˜•οΈ

Ugh this is crazy!!! 🀯 I'm watching live footage of people shoveling snow in their pajamas and it's just so cold! πŸ˜‚ -27 degrees Fahrenheit?! That's insane! And the power outages are still going on, how is everyone supposed to stay warm? It's like they're putting themselves through this just for the sake of getting some exercise or something. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And don't even get me started on the accidents, I'm worried sick about all those people. The National Guard should be out there helping more than just clearing roads! πŸ˜”

πŸ’‘ Storms like this are a harsh reminder of nature's power. ❄️ I feel so bad for those who lost power and homes... it's just too much to deal with when you're already shivering. 🀧 But on the bright side, people are coming together to help each other out. That's what matters most during times like these. ❀️ We should all be grateful for the support of our communities and the brave folks who work tirelessly to keep us safe. πŸ’ͺ

Ugh, this storm is like that nor'easter from 2018 all over again... remember how we were stuck indoors for days and couldn't even get a decent Wi-Fi signal? I swear, it feels like we're right back where we started. And the snowfall predictions are crazy - up to a foot in some areas? That's like the blizzard of '95 all over again! I'm not complaining or anything (okay, maybe just a little), but can't we just have a break from this East Coast weather drama for once? 🌨️😩

Ugh, this storm is killing me! It feels like just yesterday we're dealing with the polar vortex and now it's a bomb cyclone? I remember when I was a kid, my dad used to tell me about these crazy storms that would hit the East Coast and how they'd leave us without power for weeks. And now it seems like every few years, another big storm is hitting us like this. I'm not sure what's going on with our weather patterns anymore... πŸŒ¨οΈπŸ’¨ Still, safety first, right? Hopefully, everyone stays safe and warm till the snow clears up! 😊 My grandma would always make these amazing hot chocolate mixes when we'd have to stay inside for a storm, it was like her special way of keeping us cozy.

Wow, this storm system is wild πŸŒ€πŸ˜± 2,400 flight cancellations? That's crazy! And -27 degrees Fahrenheit in Florida?! Brrr, I feel bad for those people πŸ˜“. I hope the authorities can get everything back to normal soon, especially with all the power outages and accidents. It's always a mess when severe weather hits 🌨️. Interesting that the National Guard is being deployed to help with recovery efforts... gotta be tough on everyone πŸ’•

Ugh, I'm so worried about ppl out there right now πŸ€•πŸ˜© It's like, one storm and already they're dealing with hundreds of accidents & dozens of deaths? And the power outages are just ridiculous... I mean, can't we get some reliable internet for once?! πŸ’»πŸ’Έ But seriously, it's heartbreaking to see all these ppl struggling to survive. The National Guard showing up is a big deal tho, hope they're able to help people get back on their feet soon πŸ™πŸš¨

🌨️ man this storm is crazy! it's like they said a bomb cyclone which is so intense. i feel bad for all those people who lost power and are struggling to get back on their feet. the roads are such a mess, i hope everyone stays safe πŸ™. 2k flights cancelled? that's a lot of people stuck in airports πŸ›«οΈ. florida is like -27 degrees?! brrr ❄️. we gotta keep an eye on this storm and make sure everyone has what they need πŸ’•. the national guard is helping out which is awesome πŸ™Œ. hope it doesn't take too long to recover from this mess 🀞.

Ugh 😩 this storm is literally the worst! I feel so bad for all those people who lost power or worse. Like, have you seen the temperatures in some places? -27 degrees?! ❄️ That's crazy! And it's not just the cold, it's like, the roads are super icy and stuff, so driving is a total risk. 😱 I'm glad they deployed the National Guard to help with recovery efforts, that's a big relief. But at the same time, can we please get some better infrastructure in place? Like, snowplows and emergency services should be able to handle this kind of thing without us having to worry about it. 🀯 And I'm sure it's gonna take forever for people to recover from this... my heart goes out to everyone affected πŸ˜”

I'm so worried about these people stuck without power and struggling to get around πŸŒͺοΈπŸ’‘. This "bomb cyclone" is super intense and I can imagine how scary it must be to wake up to a snow-covered world with no heat or electricity πŸ”₯❄️. The roads are probably treacherous, making travel even more challenging πŸš—πŸ˜¬.

It's amazing how quickly things escalated - from a few inches of snow in some areas to full-blown blizzard conditions πŸŒ¨οΈπŸ”΄. And the worst part is, this is going to leave them with sub-freezing temps for weeks πŸ˜“. Frostbite and hypothermia are no joke, so I hope authorities are taking it seriously πŸ’‰.

As bad as it sounds, at least they're getting some help from the National Guard πŸ™. It's reassuring to see officials taking proactive steps to clear roads and restore services πŸ’ͺ. The thing is, people have already been through so much with these severe weather events recently - it's like they can't catch a break β›ˆοΈ.

The East Coast is such an amazing place, but this kind of extreme weather puts everything into perspective πŸŒŠπŸ’”. I just hope everyone stays safe and gets back to normal soon πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Ugh I cant believe this storm is still affecting so many ppl πŸ€•. Like, I know it's winter and all but 27 degree F? That's straight up crazy cold ❄️. I'm just glad I dont live on the East Coast lol. But seriously though, how are they supposed to recover from this? Thousands of homes without power, hundreds of accidents... it's just so much 😩. And now they're telling ppl to stay indoors and not venture out because of frostbite and hypothermia? Like, what about all the people who have to go out for work or something? πŸ€” I feel bad for them, but at the same time, someone's gotta do it, right? πŸ’ͺ. And can we talk about how this is just another reminder that winter is still really harsh in many parts of the country 😎.
