Soundgarden to Take a Piece of Seattle with Them at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
When Soundgarden is inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next month, it's not going to be just the band on stage. The ceremony will feature an impressive lineup that highlights the Pacific Northwest roots of the legendary rock outfit.
As revealed during a recent interview with the Seattle Times, Heart's Nancy Wilson, Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell and Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready will join Soundgarden at the iconic Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on November 8. The band is determined to keep it as "Seattle-centric" as possible, reflecting their hometown pride.
"We wanted to include some people that were there with us in the beginning," said drummer Matt Cameron. The inductees also mentioned that Chris Cornell's legacy will be an integral part of the celebration, as he was always a driving force behind the band's artistry.
Kim Thayil expressed his emotional connection to this milestone: "The appreciation of that shared pride...I might have an understanding of the band's accomplishments. But to see the enthusiasm with family — and certainly with the fans — and the pride, that changes the understanding entirely."
For Cameron, the ceremony marks a new chapter in their journey, as they will be recognized for their contributions alongside some of rock music's most iconic figures.
The ceremony promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring a diverse lineup including Mick Fleetwood, Janelle Monáe, Bryan Adams, and many others. When the news was first announced, Cameron reflected on how it would change their understanding of themselves as artists: "I think Chris would have really enjoyed this moment of recognition...He was always seeking that next phase of his writing career."
The event is also expected to be emotionally charged for fans of the late frontman, who will forever be remembered as a visionary musician.
Rock Hall inductees include Cyndi Lauper, the White Stripes, Outkast, and more. The ceremony will take place on November 8 at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater and promises to be an unforgettable experience for rock music fans worldwide.

I don't get why they need all these other bands there...I mean, it's just gonna feel like a big party or something. Can't they just leave the inductees alone with their own thing? It feels like they're trying to outdo each other with who's "most connected" to Seattle. And what about all the other cities that have contributed to Soundgarden's success? I don't want to be a buzzkill, but it seems kinda exclusionary.
