'The referee has to be neutral': Rodri claims Manchester City are victims of injustice

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed his frustration with the recent string of refereeing decisions that have gone against his team, claiming they are "victims of injustice". The 29-year-old Spaniard was stunned when Tottenham's Dominic Solanke scored a goal that appeared to be aided by the leg of Manchester City defender Marc Guéhi, and felt that the referee failed to spot the foul.

Rodri believes that referees need to remain impartial in their decision-making, particularly when it comes to Manchester City, who have won a large number of games recently. He said: "I know we've won too much and the people don't want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral. It's not fair because we work so hard."

The midfielder acknowledged that he usually doesn't speak about referees, as he respects their role greatly, but felt compelled to express his frustration after a string of recent decisions that have gone against City. "It's not possible," Rodri said. "Honestly, I never speak about referees, I respect their job massively. But they have to pay attention to these things."

Rodri was referring to the fact that Solanke's goal was allowed to stand despite appearing to be assisted by Guéhi's leg, and that City had been denied a penalty against Wolves earlier in the season for handball. He also mentioned that a recent game against Newcastle saw an Antoine Semenyo goal ruled out, and that Manchester United's Diogo Dalot avoided a red card in the derby despite committing a studs-up foul.

Rodri concluded by saying: "He kicked the leg, it's so clear … It's two, three games in a row and I don't know why."

Ugh man, refs are so inconsistent sometimes! 🤯 Like Rodri says, referees gotta stay impartial, no matter who's playing. I get it, Man City's been on fire lately, but that's not an excuse for them to start making up rules or ignoring obvious fouls. And come on, if Guéhi's leg helped out Solanke's goal, don't let it stand! 🙄 It's not about hating on the refs, it's about fairness and doing what's right. I'm all for respecting their job, but when you're consistently missing calls like that, it's time to step up your game. 😩

I feel like Rodri is right on point here 🤔👀. Referees have to be impartial, no matter who they're officiating against. It's not about hating Manchester City or wanting them to lose, it's about doing their job fairly and making the right calls 🏰💯. I've seen some questionable decisions in my time too, like that one game where a goal was waved off because of a tiny infringement 🤷‍♂️. It's frustrating for fans when we feel like refs are favoring one team over another. Maybe Rodri should just keep speaking up and more people will listen 💬👍

I mean, come on... refs gotta do their job properly, ya know? Rodri's right, they're not supposed to be swayed by which team's winning or losing. It's all about the game, but it feels like some ref decisions are just plain weird. I get that he's frustrated, but maybe instead of calling them out specifically, he could just talk to the league or something? It's not like he hasn't got a say, after all... 🤔

I feel Rodri's frustration 🤷‍♂️. Refs need to be consistent, ya know? One day you get a pen, next day you don't 👀. He's right, though - City's had some crazy breaks lately 💸. I mean, who doesn't love a good comeback story? But Rodri makes a point about refs being impartial... especially when it comes to big teams like Manchester City 🏆. I'm all for respectin' the refs job, but sometimes you gotta call 'em out 😂. And that goal by Solanke? So obvious! 🤦‍♂️.

I feel bad for Rodri, he's right that some decisions can be super questionable. Like, who wants to see an honest call go against a team just 'cause they're doing well? 🤔 It's not fair to the players, and it can really mess with their head games. At the same time, I get why refs gotta stay impartial... but c'mon! It's like, if it's that obvious, shouldn't they spot it? 😩 Refs are human too, after all. Guess it's just one of those things where you roll with it and hope for the best 👍

man i feel rodri's pain 🤕🏀. referees can be super inconsistent sometimes, especially when it comes to big teams like man city. one minute you're the hero of the game, next min your goal is offside... meanwhile solanke just waltzes in and scores with a leg assist from guéhi lol 😂 what's fair about that?! anyway, i think rodri has a point we gotta respect refs but also they gotta keep it real, no bias towards any team 🤝
