Senate Democrat Blames Trump for Food Aid Cut-Off as Shutdown Enters 29th Day
A day into a 29th day of the US government shutdown, Senate Democrats are calling out President Donald Trump for his administration's decision to cut off food aid funding.
Chuck Schumer, the Senate's top Democrat, labeled it "heartless" that the program would be discontinued due to the government shutdown.
The Congressional Budget Office predicts that the shutdown will negatively impact the economy but most of its damage will reverse once funding is reinstated. However, the economic disruption could result in losses worth between $7 billion and $14 billion.

Man, this whole government shutdown thing got me thinking... like, back when I was a kid, we had our share of budget fights too, but it wasn't all about Twitter drama and 24-hour news cycles. I mean, don't get me wrong, President Trump's gonna do what he thinks is best for the country, but come on, cutting off food aid? That's just... 
harsh.
I guess that's just the optimist in me talking. Anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out. Will Congress come together and find a solution before things get any worse? Only time will tell... 
! Like, can't we all just get along? I'm seriously worried about those people who are gonna be affected by this food aid cut-off 
. It's not like the US government doesn't have enough money, it's just a matter of priorities, right? And now they're going to leave thousands of people without access to food because of some disagreement between parties? It's heart-wrenching, man... I just wanna scream! 
The fact that Schumer is calling out Trump for this is not surprising, but still, it's a big deal. And don't even get me started on the economic damage - $7 billion to $14 billion? That's crazy! We need to get this sorted ASAP so people can focus on living their lives rather than worrying about where their next meal is coming from 
. And its only gonna cost like $7 billion or something... I bet there are worse things in the world than that 
. But seriously, can we not just find a compromise and end this whole shutdown thing? It seems so pointless

It's not like we can just magically make more money appear out of thin air. The fact that it's being called "heartless" by Schumer is pretty fair, imo 
. I get that Trump wants to make some changes, but cutting off aid to people who really need it? That's just basic human decency

It's so heartless to cut off funding for people who need it most. I know we should be fiscally responsible, but come on! There gotta be a better way to solve our problems than hurting the ones who are already struggling. And btw, have you seen the numbers they're talkin' about? $7-14 billion? That's like, a lot of money 
it's crazy how much of a hit it can take! 
and that's not even counting the jobs lost or the overall morale hit on public servants 
cutting off food aid is just plain cruel 
it's like, we're already past the point of no return here
