Turkish pro-Kurd DEM party warns of 'humanitarian tragedy' in siege on Syria's Kobane

Turkey's pro-Kurdish DEM party has sounded the alarm over the dire humanitarian situation in Syria's besieged city of Kobane, warning that a "deadly catastrophe" is unfolding. The Kurdish-majority city, which lies 200 kilometers from the Kurds' stronghold in northeastern Syria, has been under siege for weeks, with the Turkish border to its north and government forces surrounding it on all sides.

The situation in Kobane has escalated into a crisis of catastrophic proportions, according to DEM co-chair Tulay Hatimogullari. The city's residents have been cut off from electricity, internet, and water supplies, leaving them stranded and vulnerable. "This is a great humanitarian tragedy," she stated during a news conference.

The Kurdish forces that once held the city have withdrawn in response to pressure from the Syrian military, led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who seeks to expand his control across the country. The Turkish government's own efforts in the region have been criticized for exacerbating the crisis.

The DEM party is calling on guarantor countries – including the US and western allies that have long supported the Kurdish-dominated SDF forces – to take urgent action to lift the siege on northern and eastern Syria. Hatimogullari stressed that "guarantor countries must carry out their responsibilities" to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.

The situation in Kobane is a stark reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria, where thousands have been displaced by the conflict and millions more are in dire need of aid. As the situation continues to deteriorate, the international community is under growing pressure to act to alleviate the suffering of those affected.

I'm telling you, this Kobane thing is a total disaster πŸ’”, but at the same time, I think it's kinda good that the Syrian military is taking back control πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... wait, no, that's not true! The Turkish government's involvement has made it even worse 🚫. But on the other hand, maybe the Kurdish forces should have just stayed and fought for their own city instead of retreating πŸ€”. And what about those guarantor countries? They need to step up and help out, but also, I don't want them to be like, "Oh, we'll send aid, but not too much" πŸ˜’. It's a mess, man!

πŸ˜• it's heartbreaking what's happening in Kobane right now. I mean, can you imagine being trapped without basic necessities like water and electricity? 🀯 It's a harsh reminder that even in our own world, there are people still struggling to survive. We need to take a step back and think about how we can help, not just with aid but also by raising awareness about the situation. Let's not forget that every small action can make a big difference πŸ’‘, and if we all come together, we might be able to prevent something like this from happening again 🀞.

OMG 🀯, can you even imagine being stuck without electricity or internet in a city that's already been through so much trauma? 😱 The situation in Kobane is literally dire and I'm like totally sending all my positive vibes to the people there πŸ’•. We need to take action ASAP ⏰, like, what's up with the US and western allies not doing more to help out? πŸ€” Those guarantor countries need to step up their game πŸš€ and make sure those innocent civilians get the aid they so desperately need ❀️. It's a total humanitarian crisis right now πŸŒͺ️ and we can't just sit back and watch it all go down πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. We gotta do better, fam πŸ’―!

🀯 oh my god, kobane is literally burning over here!!! 200kms from the kurdish stronghold and it's like they forgot about the ppl living there... no electricity, no internet, no water... can u even imagine being stuck in a city with no basic necessities?! πŸ€• and its not just that, its the whole system failing - government forces surrounding it on all sides, turkey trying to exert control over kurdish ppl... what is happening?!?! 😱 the us and western allies are supposed to be the safe havens for these ppl but now they're just sitting around doing nothing... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ tulay hatimogullari is absolutely right, guarantor countries gotta step up and take responsibility before its too late... we can't just sit back and watch thousands more suffer... this is a catastrophe of epic proportions!!! πŸ’”

Man, it's just so hard to watch a city get strangled like this πŸ€•... Kobane is literally a microcosm of what happens when power and control are prioritized over human life. The Kurdish forces may have withdrawn, but that doesn't mean the people in there are safe from harm. I feel for them, you know? They're just trying to survive, but everyone else seems to be too busy chasing their own agendas.

It's like we say, 'the world is a mirror' – our actions have consequences, and if we turn a blind eye to someone's suffering, it's only going to make things worse. We gotta take responsibility for what we do, or at least try to. I mean, the US and western allies are like, "oh, we're supposed to be helping them", but what's the actual plan here? It's not just about throwing aid at the problem; it's about addressing the root causes.

Sometimes I wonder, is it even possible to avoid getting caught up in the cycle of conflict and suffering? Or do we just have to accept that it's a part of human nature?

OMG 🀯 this Kobane situation is getting super grim 😩 I mean, 200kms away from the Kurdish stronghold and they're being surrounded on all sides? 🚨 It's like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. The lack of basic amenities like electricity, water, and internet is just cruel πŸ€• And those guarantor countries (US, EU, etc) are MIA πŸ’β€β™€οΈ like, what's going on?! Why aren't they doing something about it? It's a major humanitarian crisis unfolding right before our eyes 😲 and I'm seriously worried about the people trapped there. Can't we just come together as a global community to help these folks out? 🀝

i think the international community needs to step up & take action ASAP ⏰ we can't just sit back & watch as ppl suffer. the DEM party is right to call out the guarantor countries 2 take responsibility for helpin lift the siege πŸ™Œ it's time 4 a more coordinated effort 2 address this humanitarian crisis πŸ˜”

OMG, Kobane is literally dying over here 🀯! The Turkish gov is being super harsh on the Kurdish people and it's like, a total humanitarian disaster 🚨. I'm talking no electricity, water, or internet... can you even imagine? 😩 It's crazy that the US and western allies aren't doing more to help. They're always talking about supporting democracy and human rights, but what are they really doing? πŸ’Έ I guess it's all about politics now πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, but honestly, someone needs to step in and save these people ASAP! ⏰

OMG, you guys 🀯! I just got this info from a trusted source and it's super concerning... The situation in Kobane is getting worse by the minute πŸ’”. I mean, imagine being stuck without basic necessities like electricity, water, or internet for weeks on end πŸš½πŸ’». It's like, totally inhumane 😩. And now that the Kurdish forces have withdrawn, it's up to the Syrian military and the guarantor countries (US & allies) to step up and do something about it πŸ’ͺ. But honestly, I'm not holding my breath πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. The international community needs to take action ASAP or we're gonna see a massive humanitarian disaster on our hands πŸŒͺ️. It's like, basic human decency requires us to help those in need 🀝. We can't just sit back and watch this unfold... it's time for some serious intervention πŸ’₯!

I'm so worried about Kobane, it's like a nightmare πŸŒ‘. The fact that they've lost electricity, internet, and water is just devastating. I mean, can you imagine being stuck in a situation like that with no way to communicate or get help? It's like living in the dark ages, literally. And the Turkish government's involvement is not helping, it's like pouring gasoline on a fire πŸ”₯. We need those guarantor countries like the US and Western allies to step up and do something about this ASAP πŸ•°οΈ. The situation is dire and I just hope they take action soon before it's too late 😱.

omg dont think they gonna get help soon πŸ€• kobane is literally dying over here 😩 the dem party is trying so hard but its like no one cares about syrians anymore... we need to see some action from the west ASAP πŸ’ΈπŸŒŽ and btw what about the turkey government? shouldn't they be helping their own people in need instead of making things worse for the kurdish population? πŸ€”

omg this is getting out of hand 🀯 the people of Kobane are literally dying over here and no one's doing anything about it πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ i mean i get that politics gets messy but come on we can't just ignore a humanitarian crisis like this 200km away from our own backyards...the US and western allies gotta step up and do something ASAP ⏰ this is not just about the Kurds or Syria, its about basic human decency 🀝

😩 This is getting worse by the minute, it's like nobody cares about what's happening in Syria anymore. Kobane was always going to be a mess with Turkey and the Syrian military involved, but come on, can't we at least try to help? The US and western allies are supposed to be the ones holding countries accountable for humanitarian crises, not just standing by while it all happens. What's going on here is just a massive failure of the international community... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

OMG, Kobane is literally living its worst nightmare πŸ€•πŸŒͺ️! The humanitarian crisis unfolding there is a major red flag πŸ”” - we can't just sit back and watch innocent people suffer 😩. I'm totally with the DEM party on this one πŸ‘Š. We need to see some serious action from guarantor countries, like the US and western allies 🀝. They've got to step up their game and help lift that siege ASAP ⏰! It's a great humanitarian tragedy unfolding there πŸ’”, and we can't just turn a blind eye 😴. I'm sending all my thoughts to those trapped in Kobane - fingers crossed for a miracle ✨!

Kobane's situation got me thinking about how we weigh our priorities as a global community... πŸ€” I mean, it's one thing to discuss humanitarian crises from afar, but when does our inaction become complicity? We're so caught up in our own agendas that we forget the human cost of our policies. The Kurds have been fighting for their rights and freedom just like any other group – shouldn't we be supporting them, not just talking about lifting a siege? 🌎
