Urban Meyer calls Miami ‘a problem’ before CFP championship game

Miami's physicality has been a major factor in their success this season. Urban Meyer, the legendary former Ohio State coach and current Fox Sports analyst, believes that Miami's physical teams are separating themselves from the pack.

In an interview on "The Colin Cowherd Show," Meyer stated that he considers Miami to be "a problem" for other teams heading into the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. He argues that teams with a strong pass-happy offense and style of play are starting to disappear, while physical teams that control the line of scrimmage, play great defense, and are tough as hell are the ones winning games.

Meyer pointed to Miami's impressive offensive line as a key factor in their success. The unit helped keep a running play going for eight to 10 yards post-contact in the Fiesta Bowl win over Ole Miss. Quarterback Carson Beck is also playing like he has all the talent, taking care of the ball and making some great throws.

This analysis suggests that Miami will be a challenging opponent for whoever wins the Peach Bowl between Indiana and Oregon. A matchup between Miami and Indiana would feature two of college football's best coaches and teams vying for the national championship. Despite being an underdog in either matchup, Meyer believes Miami would be tough to take out for Indiana or Oregon.

Meyer's comments highlight the importance of physicality in college football. Teams that can control the line of scrimmage and play great defense are finding success at the highest level. With a strong offensive line and quarterback play, Miami is well-equipped to make a deep run in the playoffs.

🤗 I feel you! It's like, colleges are all about being physical now, right? Like, if you can just muscle your way through and control that line of scrimmage, nothing can stop you 🏈💪. And Miami's offense is like a beast, they're so confident in their QB and O-line, it's like they know they got this 💥. It's not easy to take them down when you're playing with heart and strength like that 💕. What do you think?

📚💡 so i think Meyer's right on about physicality being key... 🤔 it makes sense that teams with good O-line play and QBs who can take care of the ball are crushing it. 🏈 like look at Miami, they're dominating games with their run game and defense. 🗑️ and it's not just Miami, other physical teams are doing well too... 🤝 it's not about flashy plays or fancy schemes, it's about control the line and play tough D. 💪

OMG u guyz i cant even believe what just happened 🤯! So like Urban Meyer was on The Colin Cowherd Show and he literally said that teams with a pass-happy offense r done for 🚫, meanwhile physical teams w/ strong O lines n defense r the ones winning lolol. Miami's like the poster child 4 this new style of play 📊! Carson Beck is straight fire on QBR 🤩, his accuracy n decision makin are insane 🙌! If Indiana or Oregon take on Miami in the playoffs, idk who wins lolol. Its def gonna be a tough matchup 🤔

I think Meyer makes some valid points about physical teams dominating college football right now 🤔. I mean, teams like Miami who can control the line of scrimmage are definitely hard to beat 💪. But at the same time, I don't think it's all about being super physical and ugly 😅. Some of these teams that are pass-happy and quick are still finding ways to win.

I love how Meyer is saying that quarterback play is key too 🤝. Carson Beck seems like a top-notch QB right now 👏. But what really excites me about this season is the matchup possibilities. A Miami vs Indiana game would be EPIC 🤯! We get to see two of the best coaches and teams go head-to-head, which could lead to some amazing football games.

Ultimately, I think physicality is a big part of it, but it's not the only factor 🔒. Teams that can adapt and find ways to counter their opponents' strengths will be the ones winning championships 🏆.

Miami's got game 🔥! I think Meyer's on point about physicality being key. All that running around can wear teams down, especially if you've got a stout defense to back it up 🏋️‍♂️. Miami's offense is silky smooth with Beck at the helm, and that O-line is like a brick wall 💪. I'm loving how they're controlling tempo and making plays when it matters most. The more teams adopt that physical style, I think we'll see even more dominance from Miami (and maybe some other powerhouses) 📈.

I'm so down for Miami to take it all the way 🤩! I mean, their physicality is insane - they can just dominate games like nobody's business 💪. And Urban Meyer is right, teams that are all flash and no substance are getting left behind 🔴. Indiana or Oregon might give 'em a run for their money in the Peach Bowl, but I think Miami's got this 🙌. Coach Saban would be proud of their toughness on defense! Their o-line is straight fire 🔥, Carson Beck is playing like a pro 👍... Bring it on playoff time! 💥

🤔 I'm loving how teams are shifting their focus from all-passing offenses to more physical, balanced approaches 🏈💪. It's making the game so much more exciting! The key is having that dominant OL and QB combo like Miami has 💥. And you know what's even crazier? Indiana and Oregon are both going to be huge challenges for them, especially with Coach Meyer on the other side of the field 😅. But hey, if anyone can pull it off, Miami might just do it 🔥!

🤔 I'm not convinced about Meyer's assessment just yet... Like, have you seen Indiana's offense? It's been on fire this season! They're definitely not going to be an underdog against Miami... And what about Oregon's QB play? I think teams with a strong pass-happy offense can still bring the heat, especially if they've got a talented QB like Justin Herbert leading the charge. Plus, we can't discount teams that have a great coach-to-coach matchup advantage... Like, imagine a game between Meyer and IU's Ron Hunter going head-to-head... 🤯

Ugh, you guys won't believe what I just saw 🤯... Miami's physicality thingy is too convenient, don't you think? Like, how did Urban Meyer just happen to pick up on this trend and become an expert on it? 🤑 And that Fox Sports analyst gig must be paying off, because he sounds way more informed than the average person. I mean, who wouldn't want to see a team like Indiana or Oregon take down Miami in the championship game? That would be some major plot twist 😏... but I'm sure there's gotta be something fishy going on behind the scenes. Like, maybe the NCAA is trying to make one of these teams look good so we can have more competitive games? 🤔

omg u guys cant deny its true - teams that are all about physicality r the ones winning atm miami's o-line is INSANE they're literally crushing it on the field and carson beck is lookin like a BOSS i mean we all no cowherd can be a bit biased but ur right tho - whoever takes down indiana or oregon in the peach bowl better watch out cause miami's comin thru 🤯🏈

I'm so done with all this hype around teams being "physical" and winning. It's just a fancy way of saying they're good at hitting people 🤯 Newsflash: it's not that complicated. A pass-happy offense can be just as effective, especially if you've got a quarterback who can make some magic happen like Carson Beck does. And let's not forget about the coaches - Miami might have Urban Meyer on their side, but Indiana's Tom Allen is no slouch either 🤓 It's all about X's and O's, not about how many hits you can throw around.

I'm so hyped for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game 🤩! I think Urban Meyer's analysis is spot on - physical teams that can control the line of scrimmage are the ones winning it all right now 💪. Miami's offense is looking fierce with their big O-line and Carson Beck is like a robot out there, taking care of the ball and making those clutch throws 🤯. But you know who I'm really rooting for? Indiana! I think they've got what it takes to take down Miami, and that matchup would be EPIC 🎉. Can't wait to see these teams go head-to-head in a few weeks!

🤩 I love how Urban Meyer's analysis is putting a spotlight on teams like Miami who have a winning formula! Their physicality is just plain inspiring, you know? It's not about fancy stats or complicated plays, it's about being tough and resilient as a team. 🏈💪 I think it's so cool that Carson Beck is making great throws and keeping the ball safe - he's definitely got the skills to lead his team deep into the playoffs! 🌟 And can you imagine the excitement of watching two top-notch coaches go head-to-head in the national championship game? 🤯 It's gonna be a thrilling ride for fans, that's for sure!

I gotta disagree with Meyer on this one 🤔... I think teams like Indiana or Oregon would be way tougher than people think 💪 They're not just about passing all day, they've got some serious speed and skill on their roster, and if they can get into a rhythm, they could totally outscore Miami 🏃‍♂️. Plus, Meyer's always been about the spread offense, but what about when teams go old-school like Michigan or Georgia? They're not worried about passing yards, just winning championships 💥 And let's be real, if anyone can take down a physical team like Miami, it's one of those powerhouses 🤯.

omg I'm so hyped for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game!! 🤩 Urban Meyer is totally right about physicality being key to winning - those teams that can dominate on D and control the line of scrimmage are def gonna come out on top! 💪 Miami's O-line is straight fire, keeping those running plays going all day long 🚀 Carson Beck is a total talent, his QB skills are on point 🙌 And can you believe it? A matchup between Miami and Indiana would be EPIC!!! 🤯 Those two teams have some of the best coaches in college football... it's gonna be so intense! 💥

idk about this miami team though 🤔 they got some crazy athletic players but it feels like they're just relying on their physicality too much... meanwhile teams that can actually execute plays and read defenses are getting left behind 📊 what's changed with college football? 😐 is the pace of the game slowing down or something? 🏈

I gotta say, this season's been all about the physical teams making a statement 🤯. I mean, Urban Meyer's got a point, teams that can control the line of scrimmage and bring that toughness to defense are killing it right now 💪. Miami's offense is lookin' fire with Carson Beck under center 🌟, and their O-line is like a well-oiled machine 💼. Indiana or Oregon tryin' to take 'em down? Good luck with that 😂. I think physicality's the way to go in this sport, it's just more about bein' able to execute on both sides of the ball ⚖️.

I gotta say, Urban Meyer's got some valid points about physicality being key in college football 😊. It's easy to get caught up in all the flashy passing stats, but at the end of the day, it's the teams that can control the line of scrimmage and bring the heat on defense that are usually coming out on top. Miami's offense is looking pretty solid right now, especially with Carson Beck under center 👍. If they can keep their physicality going into the playoffs, I think they've got a real shot at making a deep run. And let's be real, it's always tough to take down a team like Indiana or Oregon in the Peach Bowl 🤯

Miami's just playing a different style, you know? They're not worried about throwing all over the place like some teams I've seen this year. Their O-line is solid, they're controlling the pace of the game and keeping those running plays alive. And Carson Beck's got some serious arm talent - he's making some crazy throws out there! 🤯 I think it's cool that Meyer's giving them props for being a "problem" in the playoff games... shows he respects their physicality. Of course, Indiana or Oregon would still be tough opponents, but Miami's definitely got the tools to compete with anyone. 💪
