omg i'm literally so upset about this sami hamdi's wife soumaya is speaking out and it's just heartbreaking to think about her husband being held without any info or support from the us government 30 seconds of communication after his arrest? that's not even enough time for a decent cuppa ️ his comments were taken out of context and misinterpreted, but still, he's being treated like a threat to national security it's just so worrying for free speech and freedom of political expression i feel like the british government should be doing more to help him too the us government is basically censoring his views and it's not okay samis detention is a stark reminder that we need to protect our fundamental rights and freedoms i'm sending all my positive vibes to soumaya and her fam during this tough time

this is just crazy how can they do this to someone who just shares his opinion?! samis wife is right on point though, it's not about celebrating anything, it's about being free to speak without fear of retribution the us government is playing with people's lives like a game and that's not okay at all

ugh i remember when john pilgrin was detained by the uk government on suspicious activity back in 2002... at least they gave him a reason, but this sami hamdi guy just gets locked up without any proof what's really scary is that his wife is having to navigate all this because of a misunderstanding, and now she's stuck with a kid who can barely understand why daddy is being held my grandpa was always saying how the us government should be more transparent about these things... it just makes me think we're heading down the same path as some of those authoritarian regimes in history
