World Cup tickets are in high demand, but Verizon has a giveaway Friday

Verizon Gives Fans a Break: Free World Cup Tickets Up for Grabs on Giveaway Friday

For soccer enthusiasts looking to catch a live match during the upcoming World Cup in Philadelphia, Verizon is offering a rare lifeline. On giveaway Friday at 3 p.m., the wireless giant will make hundreds of tickets available – although the exact number remains under wraps – to fans who participate in the My Verizon app. The two matches up for grabs are the Brazil vs. Haiti showdown on June 19 and the Croatia vs. Ghana encounter on June 27, with ticket prices ranging from $140 to a whopping $265 per match.

The promotion is part of a broader initiative by Verizon, which will be releasing tickets to World Cup matches in all U.S. host cities over the next week. To qualify, participants must be members of the company's loyalty program, Verizon Access. The giveaway is open to fans who can secure spots on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The high demand for World Cup tickets has been well-documented, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealing last month that over 150 million ticket requests had been received in just the first 15 days of sales – more than 30 times the available supply. The total number of tickets available for the tournament stands at 7 million, while a staggering two million have already been snapped up.

Despite the high prices, which range from $140 to over $5,000 per match, fans are willing to splurge. The most affordable Category 3 tickets – the lowest tier – would cost more than $5,000 for all six games in Philadelphia. This is a significant increase from the 2022 World Cup, where tickets started at just $11.

In response to backlash over the high prices, FIFA introduced a new $60 ticket tier for superfans. However, Verizon's giveaway offers fans an alternative way to secure tickets without breaking the bank. For those who can manage to snag these free tickets, it will be a dream come true to watch their favorite teams compete live in Philadelphia.

I'm so down for this! 🤩 It's crazy how expensive World Cup tickets are getting, and Verizon is trying to give back to the fans by offering some free ones. I mean, who doesn't love watching soccer live? 💛 It's about time we saw some change like this, though - all those high prices were just not fair to regular people. I hope more companies follow suit and start thinking about their customers instead of just raking in the cash. 🤝 Let's hope these free tickets don't sell out too fast! ⏰

man I feel for all you soccer fans out there!!! 🤯 $5k+ per match is crazy talk!! 😱 but hey at least Verizon is trying to give some fans a break on giveaway friday that's so cool of them to offer free tickets to some lucky people 🎉 can't wait to see who gets in 🤞

Yooo, imagine getting FREE tix to the World Cup 🏆🎉! Verizon is giving away hundreds of tickets and I think its a great move. I mean, $5k for one game? That's crazy talk 😂. But seriously, only 150 million people are buying these tickets? Its like they're not even trying 🙄. Verizon is offering an alternative way to get in on the action without shelling out all that cash 💸. If you can snag one of those free tix, you'll be living the dream! 😎

Yooo 🤩 just imagine being able to catch a World Cup match for FREE 🙌 hundreds of lucky fans are gonna score tickets on giveaway Friday 🎉 and it's not just about the Brazil vs Haiti or Croatia vs Ghana matches either 😂, it's about getting to experience the energy of the crowd and cheer on their favorite teams with other passionate soccer enthusiasts 👊. I'm hyped for these fans who will get to live that dream without having to spend a fortune 💸. Verizon is hooking them up 🤗 and I say, let's make the most of it and enjoy the match vibes 🎉

I gotta say, I'm super skeptical about this whole giveaway thing 🤔. Like, yeah, it's awesome that Verizon is trying to reward its loyalty program members and all, but let's be real... these tickets are still gonna fly out the door faster than you can say "soccer fan" 🚀. And good luck getting those spots on a first-come, first-serve basis - I'm sure it'll be a total free-for-all 😂.

And don't even get me started on those prices... $140 to over $5,000? That's just crazy! 💸 I mean, I know some people are gonna shell out the cash for the ultimate World Cup experience, but what about all the other fans who can't afford it? It feels like Verizon is just papering the joint with its loyalty program members and leaving everyone else in the dust 🤷‍♀️.

Yaaas 🤩, finally some good news for soccer fans! I mean, I get it, Verizon's making bank off these ticket sales, but at least they're giving back to their customers on Giveaway Friday 🤑. Free tickets are like a dream come true, and I'm sure those lucky winners will be totally stoked 😆. And let's be real, $140-$265 for a match is still pretty steep, especially when you consider the prices in other parts of the world 🤯. But hey, if fans want to splurge, that's their prerogative 🤑. Just glad we're getting some freebies thrown our way 🎁!

I don’t usually comment but I think this is super cool that Verizon is giving away free World Cup tickets 🤩. I mean, it's not like they're just throwing money out the window, it's actually part of a loyalty program and stuff 🤑. But still, who wouldn't want to watch their favorite team play live? And it's not like people are going to be stuck in a sea of rich people or anything 😅. I think it's pretty great that Verizon is trying to help out fans without making them shell out hundreds of dollars for tickets. It's definitely a good thing for the common fan who just wants to enjoy the game 🎉.
