Westminster's Toxic Culture: When Booze Becomes a Career Catalyst A recent report from the Institute of Alcohol Studies has highlighted the entrenched drinking habits of UK lawmakers, revealing a culture that is both unhealthy and normalized.
According to the statistics, 42% of MPs surveyed admitted to being offered an alcoholic drink at work meetings or events on a weekly basis, while 13% claimed this happened daily.
One MP's comment that "you can start drinking here from 12 o'clock onwards and go around and consume large amounts of alcohol" is particularly telling.
