10-story apartment building in Lake View pitched by developer

I don't know how they're gonna make this work ๐Ÿค”. I mean, The Phoenix is gonna look super outta place next to that tiny little landmark, The Dakota... 70 feet vs 100+ feet? It's like a whole different vibe right there! ๐Ÿ˜‚ On the other hand, more affordable housing in Lake View would be a huge deal for people who can't afford it anywhere else. I think the city should consider all the pros and cons and try to find a balance between progress and preserving the neighborhood's charm ๐Ÿ’ก. Maybe they could even throw some community events or amenities into the building that would make up for its size ๐ŸŽ‰? Ultimately, only time (and the city council) will tell if The Phoenix is gonna be a game-changer or a major eyesore ๐Ÿ˜

I think it's pretty concerning that this 10-story tower is getting approved despite being a bit taller than initially planned ๐Ÿค”. I mean, the community does have valid concerns about the impact on the area's character and aesthetic, and now they're basically being told to just deal with it ๐Ÿ˜.

On one hand, more housing is definitely needed in Chicago, especially at affordable prices. But can't we think of a way to make that happen without sacrificing some of what makes this neighborhood unique? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, The Dakota is such an iconic building - doubling its height just doesn't feel right to me.

I do like the added touches, like the ground-floor retail space and the amenities. That sounds pretty cool ๐Ÿ‘. But can we really trust that these changes will address all of the community's concerns? ๐Ÿค”

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ, 10 stories is like, what's next? A skyscraper on the lake shore ๐ŸŒŠ? Interesting that they're trying to balance affordability with costs, I guess it's good they're adding more parking spaces tho ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘

Ugh, can't believe they're doubling the height of that building ๐Ÿคฏ... like, I get it, we need more housing, but at what cost? The whole area's gonna change and I'm not sure I'm okay with it ๐Ÿ˜•. And what's up with them adding a cafe just to placate everyone? It's like they're trying too hard to make this project work ๐Ÿค‘. And 18 months is a long time... when are we actually gonna see some progress? Fingers crossed the city doesn't approve this and we can keep our neighborhood chill ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ

idk why ppl r so resistant 2 progress lol. we need more units 4 affordable rent & i think its cool dat da dev is tryin 2 add more retail spaces 2 da buildin. dont get me wrong, its a big tower but its not like it's gonna ruin lake view or somethin ๐Ÿ˜‚ the 70 ft limit on da other buildin is pretty arbitrary tho. if we r talkin bout affordability, why not jus make sure dat da units are priced decently? ๐Ÿค”

Umm come on ppl! Can't we just chill? This tower is gonna have way more affordable units than ppl think. I mean 20% is still not much but it's something right? And parking spaces? Who doesn't need more places to park their Tesla ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘€. Don't get me wrong, The Dakota is iconic and all but let's be real it was built like 100 yrs ago. This new build might be taller but it's also got more amenities and a cafe which means ppl can still hang out without having to leave the building ๐Ÿ˜‚. Can we just stop worrying about what others think and focus on solving the housing crisis already?! ๐Ÿคฏ
