ABC13 Weather Alert: Extreme Cold Warning continues, another hard freeze set for Tuesday morning

"Extreme Cold Warning to Continue for Southeast Texas: Hard Freeze Expected Tuesday"

A bitter cold snap has left Southeast Texas under a severe weather warning, with temperatures plummeting to near-freezing conditions overnight. As of Monday, daytime highs reached the mid-30s, but with the approach of another cold front, things are expected to get even colder.

Residents are bracing for another hard freeze on Tuesday morning, with lows predicted in the low-to-mid 20s. This could spell disaster for pipes and infrastructure, as experts warn of a high risk of burst pipes and other damage. Homeowners are advised to take precautions to protect their properties from freezing temperatures.

While the worst of the ice has already melted away, meteorologists caution that isolated areas may still experience refreezing overnight, particularly in the northernmost counties hit by the Sunday evening storm. However, it's unlikely to be widespread, and conditions are expected to return to relatively mild by Tuesday afternoon when highs reach around 50 degrees.

But don't get too comfortable just yet - another arctic front is on its way for the weekend, with forecasters predicting a repeat of cold temperatures next Friday and possibly into the following week. As of now, it's unclear how severe these conditions will be, but residents are advised to stay vigilant for updates from weather authorities.

In the meantime, if you have any winter-related tips or stories, we want to hear from you. Send your videos, photos, and advice to ABC13, and they'll be featured on our channels.

Brrr 😱! I'm so glad it's not as bad as last week's freeze, but still, -20s in the morning? That's crazy cold! 🤯 I feel for all those poor pipes that have to deal with this every few weeks... They need a break, you know? 🤦‍♀️ And it's always fun (not) when we get winter advice from people who've never had to shovel snow or freeze pipes. Like, just use some common sense and wrap your pipes in blankets! 😂 Just saying. 🙃

Ugh I'm so over this cold snap already 🥶😩 it's like we just got out of winter break and now we're back in the middle of winter again 🤯 I mean I get it, pipes can burst and stuff, but can't we just have one nice day for once? 😒 And don't even get me started on having to shovel snow on top of shoveling ice... 🚮💦 I swear I'm never gonna tire of this cold weather. On the bright side, it's a good excuse to drink more hot chocolate ☕😊

Brrr ❄️ just thinking about it is giving me chills! I know some people are gonna freak out 'bout the pipes freezing up, but honestly, I'm more worried about my gaming PC 🤖 running into problems with the cold temps. Like, can you imagine trying to game in -20°C? 😂 Not fun.

I do hope everyone stays safe and warm, though! The least we can all do is grab some hot cocoa ☕️ and stay indoors till it warms up a bit. And hey, if anyone's got tips on how to keep pipes from bursting, hit me up! I'm all ears 🎧. Also, who else is hyped for the weekend? Another arctic front coming our way... bring it on (or at least some decent gaming conditions)! 😄

Ugh, great just what we need - another polar vortex coming our way. I mean, can't we just get a break from this cold already? And now we're supposed to be bracing for more pipes bursting and whatnot... like anyone's actually prepared for that kind of thing 🤦‍♂️. And don't even get me started on the whole weekend coming back around - great, so we get to relive the misery all over again. I swear, when will it ever end? 💔

Ugh I hate these cold snaps so much 🥶😩! I mean, I get it, Texas is not exactly built for winter weather, but can't we just have a mild 40-degree day without having to worry about pipes bursting everywhere?! 🤦‍♀️ And don't even get me started on the inconvenience of having to deal with frozen roads and cars all over the place. It's like, I know I love my old Honda Civic, but come on, can't I just drive it outside and enjoy the fresh air without freezing my butt off?! 😂 Anyway, I guess the worst part is the uncertainty - will we be in for another round of this cold stuff next week? Only time (and the weather forecasters) will tell 🤞.

Brrr 🥶! I feel so bad for those people in Southeast Texas who are having to deal with this crazy cold snap 😓. It's like, one minute it's freezing and the next it's a bit warmer, but then BAM! Another arctic front comes along and it's back to icy grips ❄️. Can't we just have one stable temperature for once? 🤣 But seriously, I hope everyone stays safe and warm at home, especially those pipes and infrastructure that are going to be taking a beating 💧. And yeah, let's hear from all the winter warriors out there – share your tips and stories so we can all learn from each other ❤️!

I'm stuck at home with a busted pipe 🤦‍♀️, been waiting for like 4 hours for the plumber to show up. I swear this cold is relentless 🥶. The thing that's really getting me though is how much it's disrupting my Netflix binge-watching habits 😩. Who needs TV when you can just freeze your pipes and wait for help? Not me, that's for sure! 😂

brrr! 🥶 extreme cold snaps are like, super frustrating, but i guess it's actually kinda cool that the weather is being so dramatic... like, who needs sunshine when you can have a good ol' fashioned freeze? 😂 just kidding, sorta. seriously though, pipes bursting and whatnot is no fun at all, so yeah, take precautions, ppl! 🤣 but hey, let's not get too worked up about it - the cold snap will pass, and before we know it, it'll be summer again... or at least that's what i keep telling myself 😎

Wow 😂 these Texans are going through a crazy weather cycle! One minute it's freezing, the next it's warm... I'm waiting for them to flip-flop between coats and shorts

omg this cold snap is crazy 😱 i'm still shivering just reading about it!!! pipe damage is no joke, hope everyone takes the necessary precautions to protect their homes 💡 50 degrees sounds lovely right now, can't wait for a bit of sunshine 🌞 but yikes another arctic front coming our way? stay warm and safe, texas! ❤️

Ugh, another arctic front 🤯... I mean, can't we just get a break from all this cold weather? 🥶 I'm so over checking my phone every hour for updates on the temperature. It's like we're living in some kind of Groundhog Day movie 📺. And don't even get me started on the burst pipes thing... like, how many times do we need to warn each other about this? 😩 Can't we just invest in some proper infrastructure instead of constantly shelling out cash for emergency repairs? 🤑

Brrr! 😩 I'm so done with this crazy cold weather! I don't get why it has to keep freezing in Texas 🤔. Can't we just have one decent winter without all the drama? 💁‍♀️ I mean, pipes bursting and whatnot... that's just a nightmare for homeowners. Did you know some of them are already preparing their homes with stuff like foam pipe insulation? 🧵 It's kinda sad when people have to take these precautions. 😔 Anyway, I heard there's another cold snap coming for the weekend... *sigh*... not looking forward to that at all. How do people deal with this kind of weather? Do you guys have any tips or tricks? 🤷‍♀️

Ugh, can't these Texans just get some decent weather for once? I mean, one cold snap and suddenly everyone's like "oh no, arctic front incoming". Like, didn't we just have a heatwave last month or something? Anyway, gotta give props to the pipe people - burst pipes are no joke. Hope everyone's ready to rummage through their winter gear (aka those fancy snow boots they only break out every 2 years) 🤣

ugh, can't believe this is happening again! first it's cold, then it's freezing, and now another arctic front is coming? what's next, a polar vortex in the middle of march?! 🤔💨 anyway, pipes gonna burst, homes gonna freeze... just great. and people think they're prepared with those fancy smart home systems... lol good luck with that. gotta remember to wrap up the car and stuff too. and what about all the poor animals out there? 🐰😒

Ugh I'm so done with this crazy weather already! Like I get it, cold fronts are a thing, but can't we just have one decent week without freezing pipes and bursting faucets?! I had to deal with that last year and it was such a nightmare - pipes exploding in the middle of the night and waking me up at 3 am. I swear I almost lost my mind. And now they're telling us another arctic front is on its way? Like what, are we just going to freeze in place for eternity?! 🥶💔

ugh i cant believe its freezing again 🥶😩 southeast texas is like a permanent frozen tundra now lol what's next a polar vortex coming our way? anyway seriously tho ppl need to take precautions for those pipes and stuff can't have them bursting everywhere while we're trying to stay warm lol but omg the arctic front next weekend sounds like it's gonna be bad news 🤕 stay warm everyone 💡

Ugh, another cold snap? Can't we just have a decent winter for once? I'm so over the constant freezing and thawing. It's like the weather is trying to drive me crazy! 🤣 And poor pipes, can't they just handle it already?! Bursting pipes are no joke, especially when you're not expecting it. What's wrong with some warm air, right?! Anyway, I'm gonna wrap up my car and all that jazz...can't afford to lose power or have to shovel snow all day 🤦‍♀️

🌨️ ugh i'm so over this texas cold snap already! it's been like 3 weeks since we've seen some actual warmth and now it feels like we're stuck in some sort of never ending winter loop. my poor pipes are gonna freeze any second now 🤦‍♀️ i swear, first they warn us about the hard freeze, then the arctic front comes, and before you know it, spring is just a distant memory 😔 meanwhile, all i can think about is when can we expect some real sunshine around here? ☀️
