Altered church Nativity scenes, one with a zip-tied baby Jesus, critique Trump's deportation campaign

I think its kinda crazy how one Nativity scene can spark so much conversation 🤯. On one hand, I get why some people might find it offensive - it's not exactly subtle. But on the other hand, I feel like its trying to bring attention to a really important issue that needs to be talked about. The idea of baby Jesus being "held captive" is a powerful symbol of what's happening with immigration and refugees in our country 🤝. Its making people uncomfortable, but maybe thats exactly what we need sometimes? A little shake-up, I guess.

🤔 This nativity scene is giving me CHILLS! I love how the church in Evanston is using art to speak out against the deportation campaign. It's like they're saying "hey, we know what it means to be a refugee or an immigrant" and it's not just some Hollywood drama. The fact that DHS is calling it "offensive" just makes me wanna cry 🤷‍♀️. Can't they see that this is about human rights and compassion? We need more of these kinds of displays, even if it means ruffling a few feathers 🎨💖

I think this nativity scene is actually pretty powerful 🤯. It's not just about Jesus, it's about our community coming together to show we care about each other. I mean, can you imagine if your neighbor was being treated like that by the authorities? You'd want to do something about it, right? The fact that some people are calling it "offensive" is just crazy 🤪. We need to have these kinds of conversations and challenge each other's views. It's not always easy, but it's necessary if we want to create a fairer world for everyone.

🤔 I totally get why people would be upset by this Nativity scene but honestly I think it's kinda brave? 🙏 The church is using their platform to speak out against something that's really important to them and their community. It's not about "demonizing" law enforcement, it's about showing the humanity in refugees and immigrants. And let's be real, Jesus did preach a message of love and acceptance so I think this scene is pretty on point 🌟. It's making people uncomfortable and that's exactly what we need right now - we need to have these hard conversations! 💬

I'm not surprised they're getting trashed by DHS, like their whole "secular" facade is gonna protect them from actual criticism 🙄. The Nativity scene is just another example of how the right tries to silence anyone who dares to speak truth to power. It's all about controlling the narrative and making people feel uncomfortable when they're confronted with the harsh realities of oppression.

These churches are actually doing a great service by using art as a form of protest, even if it does stir up controversy 🤷‍♀️. I mean, who wants their faith turned into a prop for conservative politicians? The fact that some community members see it as an honest representation of the issues they're facing is telling - this isn't just about Christianity, it's about humanity.

The debate around immigration policy is always going to be messy, but at least we can acknowledge that there's more than one side to the story 🤝. Maybe instead of attacking these churches, DHS should try to understand why people are so upset?
