As the Obama Center nears completion, a long-neglected Jackson Park pavilion finally gets its due

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s really cool that they’re finally giving the Burnham Building some TLC after all these years . It’s crazy how something that old can still be so beautiful and iconic. And yeah, I get why it needs some money to fix up - who wants to see a historic building just fall apart? But at the same time, I feel bad for the people of Chicago because Jackson Park is already kinda struggling with underinvestment... they need more than just one project to get things going again . And omg have you heard about the Obama Presidential Center that’s opening up nearby? That's gonna be HUGE! But seriously, there are still so many other historic projects in Jackson Park that could use some love too... like that crazy old bridge - I mean, who builds a bridge and then just leaves it to fall into disrepair?

finally, someone's picking up after the Burnham Building in Jackson Park it's been a mess for years, and I'm not even gonna get into how embarrassing it was when that SUV driver tried to 'improve' the structure by smashing into it . On a more serious note, it's awesome they're getting some cash from HUD to fix this place up - can't wait to see it shine again .

And omg, a new roof? Spanish clay tile no less? That sounds luxurious. But seriously, accessibility and safety improvements are long overdue for Jackson Park . I mean, the Obama Presidential Center is gonna be massive - hope they can do right by this beautiful park and its history.

Clarence Darrow Bridge, though... still off-limits? That's like a ticking time bomb just waiting to happen . Come on, Chicago Park District, get that fixed ASAP!
