Tension between friends on the court at Australian Open. Jessica Pegula and Lorenzo Musetti navigated a tough doubles match, both coming from victories against their respective singles opponents in previous rounds. Pegula beat her American partner Kessler 6-0 6-2 while fifth seed Musetti defeated fellow Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-3 6-3 6-4.
Pegula has been on a tear recently winning two of three matches at the tournament, having lost to eventual champions in round one. When asked about playing doubles with her singles opponent Kessler and Musetti being asked how he felt facing his friend Sonego on court, Pegula said it was "sucked" while Musetti described the match as "not easy".
While their singles results were vastly different, both players seem to be in good form. Pegula dominated her doubles partner, firing in 18 winners and making just seven unforced errors with a winning percentage of 73% on first serve. On the other hand, Musetti won six of his seven service games and converted five out of ten break chances.
They will face new opponents next round - Pegula up against Oksana Selekhmeteva while Musetti faces an opponent who is not specified yet. The Australian Open continues with players battling it out on court for a coveted spot in the tournament's knockout stages.

But at the same time, I feel bad for her partner Kessler, getting destroyed like that... poor guy
