Bafta has caught the zeitgeist with One Battle After Another, but let's hear it for The Ballad of Wallis Island

I don't usually comment but I gotta say that Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another feels like a game changer for me 🤯. It's like he tapped into this weird energy that's just so relevant right now. The way he explores these themes of xenophobia and nationalism is just so thought-provoking and unsettling 😬. At the same time, I think The Ballad of Wallis Island is trying to do something similar but in a totally different way - it's like it's whispering "hey, we get it, things are tough" instead of screaming "wAKE UP, PEOPLE!" 🗣️ But honestly, I'm curious to see how the whole awards thing plays out. Can The Ballad of Wallis Island surprise us all with that British film award? 🤞

I gotta disagree with everyone who's raving about One Battle After Another 🙅‍♂️. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's definitely got some thought-provoking themes, but has anyone actually seen The Ballad of Wallis Island? It's like people are sleepwalking through the awards season without even realizing how charming and quirky that film is 🤣. And let's be real, Carey Mulligan's nomination is a no-brainer - she's been slaying in every role she takes on 💁‍♀️. One Battle After Another might have some cultural significance, but The Ballad of Wallis Island has got the heart and soul, you know? 🌟 It's like the underdog that everyone should be rooting for 🐾. Can't wait to see Tim Key take home that award 🎉!
