Leeds United staged an impressive comeback at Pride Park Stadium to beat Championship side Derby County 3-1 and secure their place in the FA Cup fourth round.
A Ben Brereton Diaz goal gave Derby a shock lead after just 35 minutes, with Jacob Zetterstrom denying Joel Piroe from the penalty spot. However, Leeds came out strong in the second half, equalising through Wilfried Gnonto's stunning drive past Sweden goalkeeper Adam Lundqvist.
The breakthrough goal was set up by a clever dummy by Piroe, who had previously missed a penalty against Derby. The rebound fell to Ao Tanaka, who slotted it home from close range after Piroe's parried effort.
Leeds sealed their victory in stoppage time through substitute James Justin, who finished off a counterattack to send the visitors into the FA Cup fourth round. The win marked a deserved turnaround for Farke's team, who had struggled with injuries and rotation issues prior to the match.
Derby manager John Eustace praised his side's effort, stating that they were "really good value" against a Premier League opponent. However, he also acknowledged that the bigger picture is that several of his players desperately need minutes under their belt due to extended periods out injured.
Farke was effusive in praise of his team, describing them as "mature and disciplined" and commending them for turning around what looked like an upset. The Leeds boss acknowledged that it was a 50-50 game against a well-motivated Derby side but ultimately credited his players' professionalism and maturity for securing the win.
