DJI’s Neo 2 selfie drone has LiDAR for obstacle avoidance

DJI's Latest Drone Release Brings Enhanced Safety Features and Improved Performance

The tech giant DJI has just unveiled its latest drone model, the Neo 2 selfie drone, boasting a plethora of upgrades over its predecessor. The new drone features LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance, which is set to significantly improve safety while flying in complex environments or following users around during flight.

This advanced system, paired with downward-looking infrared sensors, enables the drone to navigate through challenging weather conditions with increased accuracy and precision. Additionally, the Neo 2 boasts improved gesture controls, allowing users to adjust position and distance by moving their hands around for effortless selfie-taking. This feature complements existing motion controllers and DJI's RC-N3 remote controller.

The updated drone has seen a notable increase in its maximum speed, reaching nearly 27 miles per hour – significantly faster than the original model. Moreover, DJI claims that this improved speed allows the Neo 2 to maintain stability in winds up to around 24 miles per hour, rendering it more suitable for challenging weather conditions.

Furthermore, the drone's battery life has been enhanced with a larger 1606mAh rechargeable battery, resulting in an impressive 19 minutes of usage per charge. In contrast, its predecessor could only manage between 14 and 17 minutes of usage.

The Neo 2 also boasts improved camera capabilities, featuring a dual-axis gimbal for enhanced stability and a wider field of view. The drone can now capture stunning 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second, with manual piloting allowing it to reach an impressive 100 frames per second.

In terms of storage, the Neo 2 has seen a notable increase in its internal capacity, rising from 22GB to a substantial 49GB. However, this upgrade comes at the cost of increased weight, as the drone now weighs 151 grams compared to the original's 135 grams.

While the new drone offers numerous enhancements over its predecessor, it remains exclusive to China for the time being. DJI has yet to confirm plans for a wider global release, despite hopes that the price will remain relatively stable at around $211 in US dollars – although tariffs may impact this pricing in the future.

OMG, this new DJI drone is literally everything I've been waiting for 🤩! The LiDAR sensors are gonna be a game changer, especially when flying in crazy weather conditions 🌪️. And can we talk about how epic it is that you can take selfies while flying with just hand gestures? 📸👍 The increased speed and stability in winds are major wins for pilots like me 💨. But, tbh, I'm a bit disappointed it's only exclusive to China right now 🤔. Let's hope DJI decides to release it globally soon and keep the price stable at $211 💸. Can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy and take some insane 4K footage 🎥!

I'm so excited about this new drone update from DJI 🚁! The safety features are going to be a game-changer for beginners and pros alike. I mean, who doesn't want a drone that can navigate through tricky weather conditions with ease? And the gesture controls for taking selfies sound like such a breeze – it's perfect for those moments when you just wanna capture the perfect shot without messing around with complicated remotes 😎.

The speed upgrade is also super impressive, especially considering how stable the drone stays in windy conditions. That 27mph top speed is no joke! And let's not forget about the camera capabilities – who needs that much resolution? But seriously, it's great to see DJI pushing the boundaries of what we can expect from a drone.

My only concern is the weight increase, which might affect the overall portability of the device. I hope they do decide to make it more widely available soon, though! Maybe when they come out with an updated design 🤞

🤩 I gotta say, 27 miles per hour is CRAZY fast for a drone! 😲 Imagine capturing those sick aerial vids with the Neo 2, especially when it's all about that selfie life 📸😎. I was at my friend's birthday party last weekend and we used one of their old drones to get some cool shots, but it would've been so much more epic if ours had this kind of speed 😂. Anyway, LiDAR sensors for obstacle avoidance is a total game-changer, no more crashing into trees or stuff 🤦‍♂️. Can't wait to see what else DJI comes up with! 💻

Ugh, I'm so skeptical about these new drone releases 🤔. Like, what's next? They're gonna start making us pay more for better features and charging us extra for "pro" accessories. And 27 miles per hour is just gonna make it a noisy nuisance in urban areas, not to mention all the potential safety risks of flying that fast 🚨. I mean, who needs 4K footage at 100 frames per second when you've got a headache from the drone's noise and a messy backyard from the dropped equipment? 💸

Ugh, another drone that's just going to fly over my head literally... 🤦‍♂️ I mean, what's the point of having a 4K camera if it's just going to capture more pixelated garbage than anyone can actually handle? And don't even get me started on the price - $211 for something that'll probably end up collecting dust in some garage or attic. 😒 The fact that they're only releasing this thing in China is also pretty sketchy, like DJI's trying to keep an eye on their sales numbers or something... 🤔

Omg 🤩, I'm so hyped about the new DJI Neo 2 selfie drone! The safety features are totally game-changer - LiDAR sensors and infrared sensors making it super stable even in harsh weather conditions. And can we talk about how fast it is? 🚀 27mph is insane! It's perfect for those crazy windy days or when you're trying to get the best shot for your selfie.

But what I'm really loving is the gesture controls - it's like having a personal drone butler 🤖. And with that camera, 4K footage at 60fps is just mind-blowing! The only thing holding me back from getting one is that it's still exclusive to China for now... fingers crossed they make it global soon 🤞

omg i'm so hyped for this new drone lol it's like DJI is trying to make flying a total breeze 🤩 first off the LiDAR sensors are genius, can't wait to fly that thing around me and take some sick selfies with my friends 👯‍♀️ but what really gets me excited is the improved performance, 27 miles per hour is insane! i mean, who needs to be that fast? 😂 it's like DJI knows we're all just trying to escape our daily routines for a bit 🌞 and this drone delivers on that promise. and btw, longer battery life means more time in the air = pure joy 🎉

just saw this thread and gotta say its crazy how fast tech moves lol 🤯 i mean 4k vids at 100fps? what even is that for? i remember when 720p was the max on my old smartphone 😂 but seriously, its great to see djis taking safety features seriously with liadar sensors. i wish they'd release this in other countries tho 👀 also, 19 mins of battery life thats actually kinda impressive 📈

🤔 The more I think about it, the less excited I get. DJI's always pushing the limits of tech, but do we really need a new drone every year? The updates are nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure the increased speed and storage are worth the extra cost... or the weight. 💸 151g might seem small, but it adds up! Maybe they should just stick to making better selfie-taking drones instead of trying to be a Hollywood action hero 🤓
