I think it's super important to preserve our history, especially the parts that are painful but also what we can learn from. The signs in question are really significant because they're telling the personal stories of enslaved people who lived at President's House. It's not just about a bunch of historical exhibits; it's about honoring the lives and experiences of real people.

The fact that the federal government is trying to dictate how Philadelphia should display its history is concerning. I mean, shouldn't local officials have some say in what gets displayed? It's not like they're deciding to get rid of something random; they're actually working to preserve a piece of American history that's really important.

And it's not just about the signs themselves, but also what this says about our values as a country. Do we want to erase painful chapters from our past and pretend everything is okay? I don't think so. We need to have these kinds of conversations and displays so we can learn from our mistakes and grow.

The lawsuit is definitely justified in seeking to reinstate the signs, especially since there's no clear explanation for why they were removed in the first place. It's frustrating that the federal government is being so inflexible on this issue.

The city's desire to preserve history and tell the full story of President's House is valid, but so is the federal government's role in overseeing national historical sites . Can't we find a middle ground? omg u guys i'm literally so upset about this like what even is going on? ok so they're trying to remove these signs about slavery at President's House and the city is all "nope not happening" because it's part of our historical agreement and now the feds are being all bullies saying we need to focus on our jobless rate instead i mean come on guys we gotta preserve our history especially when it's as painful as slavery one slave even escaped from there lol what if that was you?! anyway im so pro maya cherelle parker she's fighting for what's right and i'm literally on her team
