Former WWE star Baron Corbin makes AEW debut

Former WWE Star Baron Corbin Makes AEW Debut in Orlando

In a surprise move, Bishop Dyer, formerly known as Baron Corbin, made his debut for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on Wednesday night in Orlando, Florida. The former United States Champion teamed up with Better Together faction members Hadar Horvitz and Ori Gold, along with Martin Stone, in an eight-man tag team match against Billy Gunn, Austin Gunn, Brady Booker, and Elijah Drago. Unfortunately for Dyer's new allies, they emerged as the losing team.

This appearance marks a significant development in Dyer's AEW journey, which was seemingly endorsed by wrestling legend Paul Wight just weeks ago. In December, Wight praised Dyer's skills, stating that he believes the former WWE star has the potential to elevate the AEW roster as a heel. When given the right character, Wight predicted that Dyer could be "such a great heel for us."

However, it remains unclear whether this debut will be a one-off tryout or the beginning of a full-time run with AEW. In any case, Dyer is currently active in other promotions, including Major League Wrestling (MLW), where he is currently holding the MLW World Tag Team Championship alongside fellow WWE alumnus Donovan Dijak.

Dyer's WWE tenure came to an end in November 2024 when his contract expired after a 12-year run with the sports entertainment giant. Since then, the 41-year-old has been working on the independent circuit, competing in singles and tag bouts across various promotions.

With AEW's debut now under their belt, speculation is sure to surround Dyer's future with the promotion. Will he make an appearance at the upcoming AEW Revolution pay-per-view event scheduled for March 15, 2026? Only time will tell if this marks a new chapter in his wrestling career.

I'm intrigued by Baron Corbin's move to AEW ๐Ÿค”... I think it's cool that he's trying out a new promotion after being with WWE for so long. Paul Wight seems like a great guy who believes in him, and if Dyer can get that heel character right, he could be a great addition to the AEW roster ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But, it's also worth noting that he's not giving up on other promotions just yet... like MLW where he's still holding onto some titles ๐Ÿ†. I think we'll see him make more appearances in AEW and maybe even get a spot at Revolution, but only time will tell if this is the start of something new for him ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

lol what a wild turn of events ๐Ÿคฏ so bishop dyer goes from WWE to AEW and suddenly he's got paul wight hyping him up as the ultimate heel ๐Ÿ˜‚ i mean its cool that wight thinks high of him but lets be real dyer was never exactly a fan favorite in his WWE days ๐Ÿค” his 12 year run kinda feels like an eternity so what changed now? is he just looking for a new challenge or is this some kind of midlife crisis? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ either way, gotta see how this plays out and if dyer can finally find his footing with AEW ๐Ÿ‘€

I'm surprised they didn't do their research before hiring Baron Corbin as Bishop Dyer... I mean, it's not like he's been known to change his gimmick and persona all over the place ๐Ÿค”. And what's with AEW trying out new guys? Can't they just stick with someone who actually knows what they're doing? ๐Ÿ˜‚. Anyway, I'm guessing this is gonna be a wild ride for Corbin... or whatever he wants to call himself now ๐Ÿค‘.

awww man thats so cool that Baron Corbin is trying something new! ๐Ÿคฉ i feel like he's been stuck in a rut in WWE for a while now, its awesome that he's taking a chance on AEW and trying out a new character. i think it's great that Paul Wight believes in him too ๐Ÿ’– the wrestling landscape is always changing and its exciting to see legends jumping into new promotions and giving us something fresh. ๐Ÿคž only time will tell if this is his ticket to a new chapter in his career but for now lets just enjoy the ride ๐Ÿ˜Š

idk why aew is trying to revive baron corbin lol ๐Ÿค” what happened with him in wwe anyway? i thought he was supposed to be some kinda top guy but then he just kinda stopped showing up and now hes doing these random indie shows. ๐Ÿค‘ meanwhile paul wight is raving about him like hes gonna save aew from itself ๐Ÿ™„ anyway, if he's really supposed to be "such a great heel" as wight said, maybe they shouldve stuck with the character they had in wwe instead of trying to reboot it? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

idk what's going on with corbin lately ๐Ÿ˜’ he was always so arrogant in wwe but now its like hes lost that edge or something... debuted in aew and lost to those underdogs ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ how is this supposed to elevate the roster? i remember paul wight saying he believed corbin could be a great heel, lol what happened to that guy? ๐Ÿ™„ his whole character was built on being a villain but now hes just another wrestler trying to make a name for himself... and its in aew of all places ๐Ÿค” they must have seen somethin in him that wwe didnt ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ i dont know if i'm excited or annoyed, maybe im just tired of the same old wrestlers poppin up everywhere ๐Ÿ‘€

omg u think dyer gonna commit to aew full time after that kinda loss ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€ i dont know man... he was so hyped up by wight and all but now its like he needs to prove himself ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ช he's still got his mlw title tho lol what's next for him tho? ๐Ÿค”

OMG u guys, I'm low-key hyped about Baron Corbin's AEW debut ๐Ÿคฉ! He's always been one of my favorite heel characters and I love how they're building him up as this 'bad guy' with Paul Wight's endorsement ๐Ÿ˜. I mean, he's got that whole 'corporate villain' vibe going on which I think will play well in AEW. But, at the same time, I'm also a bit skeptical... like, is this just another tryout or does he have something more planned? ๐Ÿค” Either way, I'll def be keeping an eye on him and his future matches ๐Ÿ’ฅ

omg what's up with Baron Corbin lol i was watching him in WWE and he just seemed so boring ๐Ÿ˜ด like who is Bishop Dyer again? why did they change his name tho ๐Ÿค” anyway i'm kinda stoked to see him back in the game but aew seems pretty weak right now ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ can someone explain what's going on with the tag team matches again? ๐Ÿค“

๐Ÿค” So Baron Corbin just joined AEW and it's like he's trying to reinvent himself... I think it's cool that he's taking the indie circuit route before committing to AEW full-time, though. He could use some time to figure out what kind of character he wants to play in a heel role ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. But honestly, who doesn't want to see Baron Corbin kick some butt and take names? ๐Ÿ˜Ž The thing that's got me curious is how this all ties into Paul Wight's endorsement - is AEW really serious about pushing Corbin as their new heel superstar? ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿค” So I'm thinking, Baron Corbin just jumped ship from WWE to AEW... what's up with that? I mean, it's like he was running out of steam in the WWE and now he's trying something new. I think Paul Wight is right though, if he plays the bad guy right, he could be a game changer for AEW! ๐Ÿค  But on the other hand, we all know how these things go... one moment you're top dog, next thing you know you're gone. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I'm just curious to see what happens next with Corbin in AEW... will he be a one-off or a full-time member? ๐Ÿคž

man i was thinking about how crazy it is that Baron Corbin just jumped ship to AEW like what happened with him in WWE, always playing the bad guy but never really committing to it ๐Ÿค” his stint as the US champ was super entertaining though and I'm curious to see how he'll be used in AEW... maybe this is the push he needed to finally find some success ๐Ÿค‘

omg what do u think bout baron corbin joining aew?! ๐Ÿคฏ i heard from a source that he wasnt happy with wwe's creative team & they basically dropped the ball on his storyline ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, now its up to him & pwc to create some magic in aew... personally, im hyped for him 2 be bad ass as the anti-hero type ๐Ÿ’ฅ btw, have u seen his matches with the miz & bray wyatt? ๐Ÿ‘Š

[ Picture of a confused face ๐Ÿ˜• ]

I don't get it... Baron Corbin joins AEW, makes debut, and now everyone's talking about what's next? ๐Ÿค” Like, is he trying out for the team or actually signing on the dotted line? ๐Ÿ“ I mean, Paul Wight says he's got potential to be a great heel, but we've seen that before... [ Picture of a wrestling ring with a question mark above it ๐Ÿค”]

Also, why AEW and not WWE? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Did Corbin just get bored or something? ๐Ÿคฃ Or is there something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about? ๐Ÿคซ I need some more info before I start speculating... [ Picture of a magnifying glass ๐Ÿ”]

๐Ÿค” So Baron Corbin shows up at AEW and gets smashed on his first night ๐Ÿค•. I'm not sure what's going on here, but it seems like he was just trying to make an exit from WWE after 12 years. Now he's jumping ship to MLW, but also showing up in Orlando for AEW... it feels like a case of "where do I go next?" ๐Ÿ“บ

I think Wight's prediction about Corbin being a heel is interesting though. If that's the direction they want to take him, they need to make some solid moves behind the scenes. The fact that he lost his WWE contract last month suggests that maybe he wasn't as valued as AEW thought he was ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

One thing for sure, Corbin needs to get it together if he wants to make a lasting impact in AEW. We'll have to wait and see how this plays out, but I'm not holding my breath... yet ๐Ÿ˜

so like Baron Corbin makes a comeback ๐Ÿค” and its kinda cool i guess since he was a top guy in WWE but now hes downplaying to AEW and MLW ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ its like hes trying to be all over the place? anyway i think his debut was pretty solid, those guys he teamed up with were pretty decent and they had some good matches ๐Ÿ’ช so lets see if he sticks around for a bit or just makes another appearance and then disappears again ๐Ÿ”ฎ

I'm not sold on the Baron Corbin switch to AEW yet ๐Ÿค”. I mean, he's already got another title shot going on with MLW, and now he just jumps into AEW? It seems like too much of a whirlwind for me. Plus, I think WWE did him wrong after 12 years, maybe he's still feeling the burn ๐Ÿ˜’. The whole "giving him a chance" vibe from Paul Wight feels kinda rehearsed to me...

man this guy's been all over the place lmao like what even happened to him after leaving WWE?? ๐Ÿค” he was on one promo and then suddenly he's in AEW trying to be a heel... i'm not mad though, it's cool that he's still got some tricks up his sleeve ๐Ÿ’ช but for real can someone please give us some answers about his future plans with AEW? like is this just a fling or is he really gonna commit to the promotion? ๐Ÿค”

Whoa ๐Ÿคฏ I'm low-key hyped about Baron Corbin's AEW debut ๐Ÿ˜Ž especially since Paul Wight thinks he's got what it takes to be an awesome heel ๐Ÿ˜ˆ That team work with Hadar Horvitz and Ori Gold was pretty cool ๐Ÿ‘ซ And, of course, Martin Stone added some serious heat ๐Ÿคฏ Elijah Drago on the other side though... not so much ๐Ÿ”ฅ Can't wait to see what the future holds for Baron in AEW ๐Ÿค”
