Goat review – noisy, lightning-speed basketball animation does it for the kids

"Goat", the latest animated comedy to hit theaters, has all the makings of a classic: talking animals, zany humor, and even a star-studded voice cast. However, beneath its noisy exterior lies a hollow shell that fails to capture the hearts of audiences.

The film's protagonist, Will Harris, voiced by Caleb McLaughlin, is a lovable but underdog goat who dreams of playing professional "roarball", a high-flying sport eerily reminiscent of basketball. Despite being told he's too small and too skinny for the game, Will perseveres with determination and charm.

What sets this film apart from its CGI-heavy predecessors like "Zootropolis" and "Sing" is its unique connection to real-life basketball legend Stephen Curry, who serves as a producer and star in the movie. The animation is fast-paced and chaotic, with courts switching between jungle settings and arctic ice landscapes at breakneck speeds.

While the voice cast delivers some winning performances, particularly from Gabrielle Union's sassy panther Jet, it can't save the film from its overall lack of heart and soul. The jokes, though occasionally landing, are often lost in the cacophony, leaving viewers feeling overwhelmed rather than entertained.

Perhaps the greatest disappointment is that "Goat" fails to tap into its genuine emotions, instead relying on tired underdog tropes that have been done to death. Watching this film is akin to standing next to a roaring helicopter taking off – it's loud, but ultimately exhausting.

As the credits roll, the only lingering impression is a pounding headache, rather than a lasting sense of wonder or excitement. Despite its potential, "Goat" falls short as a movie that truly resonates with audiences of all ages.

I went to see Goat with my mates and we were all hyped about it at first but honestly it just felt like another cartoon to me 🤔. The animation was wild and crazy, I'll give them that, but the jokes were so scattered and wouldn't really stick in our heads after the credits rolled. And yeah, it's always cool to see Stephen Curry on screen, but even his presence couldn't elevate the whole film for us. It just felt like a bunch of tired tropes strung together without any real emotional depth. I was left feeling pretty meh about it tbh 😐.

I just watched Goat in theaters 🐐😒 and I gotta say, it's a total letdown. The animation is pretty wild, but the humor's all over the place for me - sometimes it hits, other times it just falls flat. I get why they thought Stephen Curry was a good fit as a producer, but his involvement doesn't really translate to more depth or substance in the film.

I'm not gonna lie, Caleb McLaughlin's voice acting is pretty solid, especially when he's playing Will, but it's not enough to save this movie from its overall lack of heart. And don't even get me started on how fast-paced the animation is - I was literally squinting my eyes trying to keep up with everything that was happening on screen 🤯.

The biggest problem for me is that the jokes rely too much on tired underdog tropes and not enough on actual clever writing or character development. It's just a mess, you know? Watching this film left me feeling pretty meh - not exactly entertained, not exactly inspired... just kinda "meh". 🤔

I'm not sure I agree with this review 😊. I mean, I've seen the film and it's pretty funny, especially when Will's rival goat gets dunked on 🤣. The animation is crazy fast-paced, just like the reviewer said! And I think Caleb McLaughlin does a great job as the main character. Plus, Stephen Curry is in it, so that's already a win for me 👍.

I don't think the film needs to be emotionally deep to be enjoyable – sometimes you just want something light-hearted and silly 🤪. And yeah, I've had that pounding headache feeling after watching some movies too 😴. But I didn't feel like I wasted my time or anything... maybe I'm just a glass-half-full kinda person?

I dunno man, I just didn't vibe with this one 🤔. All the hype around it was crazy, but when I finally watched it, it felt like they were trying way too hard to be funny and quirky 😂. The animation was wacky, I'll give them that, but it just felt like a mess of colors and lights – all in all, not my cup of tea 🍵. And don't even get me started on the plot... underdog story? Been done so many times before, you know? It's like they ran out of ideas after the first 20 minutes 💡. I mean, what really bothered me was that it felt like they were trying to distract us from its lackluster emotions with all those wacky jokes 🤪... but honestly, it just didn't stick 💔.

I just saw Goat and it was meh 🤔. I mean, I love talking animals and zany humor, but this one just didn't click for me. The animation is super fast-paced, but sometimes I felt like I needed a break 😴. And don't even get me started on the jokes... they were hit or miss at best. What really bugged me though was that it felt like they were trying to cram too much into one movie 📦. Caleb McLaughlin's voice acting was cool, but not enough to save the film for me 😐. Overall, I'd say it's a decent watch if you're a die-hard fan of animated comedies, but otherwise, it's just another loud and overwhelming experience 🎥

I was really looking forward to this one, I thought it was gonna be so funny and entertaining 🤣 but honestly it felt like they were trying way too hard to make me laugh. The animation was pretty cool, I'll give them that, but the jokes just didn't land for me. And I know some of my friends are huge Stephen Curry fans, which is awesome, but even his involvement couldn't save this movie from feeling kinda... empty 🤔. It's like they took all these great ideas and mashed 'em together without really thinking about what made them special in the first place.

man i just watched goat and i gotta say it was so annoyingly loud 🤯 i mean Caleb McLaughlin is talented but the animation was like whoa hold my popcorn 🍿 it's like they took every fast-paced basketball game and mashed them all together into one chaotic mess 🏀🌳 but what really got me was how flat the emotions were like watching a helicopter take off without any actual lift-off 😴 gabrielle union as jet though was on point tho 🐯 her sass levels were on a whole other level but anyway, it's just another animated film that fails to leave a mark 💔

man i just saw this movie goat and it was like watching a helicopter take off but not the good kinda 🚁💥 - it had so much energy but no substance lol. they got some awesome voice cast tho like gabrielle union as jet she's a total scene-stealer 🤣 but for real the jokes were hit or miss sometimes i felt like i was in a zoo with all these animals but not really connected to any of them. i dunno what kinda vibes the filmmakers were going for but underdog tropes are so overdone now

I gotta say 🤯, I was so hyped for this one! 🎥 But like, watching it in theaters just felt meh... 😐 The animation is wild, no doubt about it 🚀 - 120 frames per second and all that jazz! 🕰️ But, honestly, after the first hour, I was just scrolling through my phone 📱 instead of paying attention to the plot 🤦‍♂️. And don't even get me started on how much CGI they used... like, did you see the budget breakdown? 💸 $150 million went straight into fancy animations and not nearly enough into heart ❤️ or character development 🙅‍♂️. I mean, Will's a cool goat and all 🐐, but we only get to know him in the most surface-level way... idk, feels like they were worried about keeping up with that insane pace 🏀 instead of letting us connect with the characters on a deeper level 😔. 2/10 would not watch again anytime soon 👎

ugh i kinda feel the same way about goat 🤔 it was so loud and chaotic i love stephen curry tho and gabrielle union's voice is everything lol but yeah i guess the jokes were just too much for me to handle 🙅‍♂️ maybe they shoulda toned it down a notch or somethin'?

I got a bad vibe from this one 🤔💔 The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced they're trying to brainwash us with some kinda mind-control tactic 😒 Caleb McLaughlin's voice acting is spot on, but that's just icing on the cake... or should I say, it's all just a distraction from the real issue 🤫 What's really going on here? Why did Stephen Curry get involved in this project? Is he trying to promote some kinda new "roarball" league? 🏀🚨 And have you noticed how fast-paced and chaotic the animation is? That sounds like they're trying to keep us disoriented while we watch... Wake up, folks! 👀

idk, i mean, the film's got some great energy to it 🤣👀 and those voice actors are super talented! gabrielle union's panther jet is everything 😂 but, on the other hand, the whole underdog thing just feels so...done. like, we've seen this a million times before 🙄 can't they come up with something fresh? 🤔 also, i'm not really sure why they went for that helicopter comparison 🚁...isn't it kinda on point tho 😏
