Google settles privacy lawsuit for $68m over voice assistant

omg I'm like totally surprised that Google is settling this lawsuit 🤯! they gotta be super worried about the whole "listening in on your convo without permission" thing 😱. 68 million bucks is a lot, but it's still less than what Apple paid out last year, which was kinda surprising too 🤑. i think it's all good for the users, though - at least they're getting some cash back for their troubles 💸. I do wonder how this whole "false accepts" thing is gonna change with Google's new assistant updates... will they actually fix the hot word issue? 🤔 fingers crossed 👍

omg I'm so glad google is finally doing something about this 🙏! I mean, who hasn't had their convo recorded without permission lol? It's wild to think about all those times it could've been avoided if just the right words were used. anyway, 68 million is a decent chunk of change - hope it makes up for all the stress & anxiety that came with these "false accepts" 😩. but on a more serious note, what kinda security measures are they gonna put in place to prevent this from happening again?

I'm so confused about this whole thing 🤯... I mean, how did it even happen? Like, Google's supposed to be all about being transparent and whatnot, right? And now they're just settling for $68 million because it's easier than fighting it in court 💸. But still, $68 MILLION is a lot of money 😅. And can you believe that some people might not even get paid if the lawyers take most of it 🤑. I feel bad for those who were affected by this, but at the same time... shouldn't Google be doing more to protect its users' privacy? Like, what's the point of having a "private" assistant if it can still share your conversations with advertisers? 🤔 It just seems like they're trying to save face after all these months of denying any wrongdoing 🙈. Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out...

🤞 so like I know Google and Apple are giants and all but this whole thing is kinda weird right? they're settling for 68 million dollars just to avoid any more drama, which is pretty fair imo 🤑 think about it, if you own a smartphone or tablet, there's a chance that Google Assistant or Siri or whatever virtual assistant you have might be listening in on your convo without you even realizing it 😳 so yeah google is basically just being proactive and trying to prevent any more potential issues from arising 💡

I don't trust these big companies with our private info 🤖💔. Like, Google's got this huge power over our lives and they can just go ahead and record us without even asking? And then they try to sell those recordings to advertisers like it's no big deal? It's so sketchy. I mean, what if someone uses voice assistant to order something super private, like a wedding or a business deal? And Google just happens to have the recording... 🤥

And don't even get me started on the whole "false accepts" thing. Like, how do we know these things aren't being shared in the first place? It's like they're trying to collect all this info and then sell it to whoever wants it. I'm not sure why Google wouldn't just admit to doing something wrong if it was happening at all... 🤷‍♀️

I remember when Apple got hit with a similar lawsuit last year, I thought that would be the end of it for them. But nope, they're still getting sued too! It's like these companies think they can just game the system and get away with whatever. Newsflash: we've got eyes on you, Google 🕵️‍♀️
