I'm not sure about this novel being called a "love letter to reading" ... I mean, it's definitely well-written and all that, but is it really just an ode to how good books are? I don't know if it's that deep for me. The story seems pretty standard - young love, loss, growing up... it's been done before. And what with the whole identity mystery thing, it feels like they're trying too hard to be mysterious . Give me a good old-fashioned romance any day where the emotions are raw and unfiltered .
just finished reading heart the lover, really resonated with it the way lily king writes about loss and mortality is so poignant, feels like she's speaking directly to your soul but what i loved most was how she explores the complexities of young love without shying away from the hard stuff. the supporting cast is incredible too, feels like they're all living in your own life would def recommend this one to anyone who's ever experienced the rush of first love
