Irish Premiership: Larne extend lead at top with big win over Glentoran

Larne Seize Big Win Over Glentoran to Boost Premiership Lead

A dominant display from Larne saw them extend their lead at the top of the Irish Premiership table, as they secured a convincing 4-1 victory over 10-man Glentoran at the Oval. The Invermen, who are now unbeaten in 15 games, further solidified their position at the summit with this impressive win.

The lively start to the game saw Larne denied by the woodwork in the opening two minutes when Sean Graham's effort crashed off the crossbar, however, they broke the deadlock on seven minutes when awarded a penalty after MJ Kamara handled the ball in the box and Paul O'Neill fired home the resulting spot kick. This was followed by goals from Chris Gallagher and Tomas Cosgrove to give Larne a 3-0 half-time lead.

Glentoran reduced their deficit to just one goal before Tony Clarke gave his side man away for a red card, however Larne's three-goal cushion proved too much for the Glens to overcome. In the second half, O'Neill and Cosgrove added further goals to seal a comfortable win for Larne, as they pushed their lead at the top of the table.

The other match at Taylors Avenue saw Linfield lost ground in the title race after being held to a 0-0 draw with Carrick Rangers. Despite dominating possession, the Blues were denied by the woodwork when Josh Archer pulled down Paul Heatley just shy of the goal-line for their first red card of the season.

At the Showgrounds, Joe Gormley salvaged a point for Cliftonville after coming off the bench to score a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Ballymena United.

I'm so stoked Larne is crushing it this season 🀩. Like, I get it, they're good and all, but can't we just have some exciting games between the top teams for once? That Glentoran win was more like a tutorial on how to dominate a team rather than an actual match πŸ“š. And honestly, who needs that many goals when you can just keep score low and steady? 😴

I'm so stoked that Larne is killing it this season 🀩! They really showed their strength and determination against Glentoran, I mean 4-1 is a huge win for them πŸ’₯. And it's not just the scoreline, their team overall was just dominant, controlling the game from start to finish πŸ”’.

I love how they broke down so easily once they got that penalty kick 😎, and Chris Gallagher's goals were some of the most clinical I've seen in ages ⚽️. The fact that Glentoran even managed a goal with a man down is just testament to Larne's superiority πŸ™Œ.

It's also refreshing to see how evenly matched the other games were - Linfield not giving up, Cliftonville salvaging a point... it shows we've got some real depth in this league right now πŸ’ͺ. Bring on the rest of the season!

🀣 seriously what's going on in Irish football? first Larne is just cruising at the top and then Linfield goes and gets held to a 0-0 draw by Carrick Rangers, I mean who needs goals when you've got woodwork? πŸ˜‚ and don't even get me started on Glentoran, can't even handle a few set pieces and they're getting red carded left and right, like maybe just maybe they need to work on their tackling skills πŸ™„

anyway, congrats to Larne on the win, I guess 4-1 isn't too shabby for Glentoran πŸ˜… but overall it's all about who can stay focused and not make mistakes, right? ⚽️

OMG 🀯, Larne is on fire πŸ”₯! They're really crushing it out there and I'm loving every minute of it πŸ’ͺ! I mean, 4-1 is insane 🀯, that's like a scoreline from the Champions League league final or something πŸ˜‚. And the fact that Glentoran got a red card is just perfect for Larne - they're really getting under their opponents' skin πŸ”₯. I'm so stoked to see them keep pushing at the top of the table πŸ†!

just read about larne's big win over glentoran 🀩 what really stood out to me is how they've been so consistent and unbeaten in 15 games now... that's huge! πŸ™Œ it shows the team has a great balance of defense and offense, making it hard for opposing teams to get past them. also, MJ Kamara's mistake was a turning point in the game πŸ‘€ but overall, larne's performance was impressive and they should be proud of their win πŸ’ͺ

I'm glad Larne got that win but I do think they need to work on their defense πŸ€”. Glentoran got that red card, which is huge for them, but they were still getting some chances. And yeah, MJ Kamara's handball was a bit of a dodgy call, if you ask me πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. It's not like Larne didn't deserve the win though, especially after 3 goals in the first half πŸ”₯. The thing that worries me is how this will affect their performance against the other teams, they need to stay focused and keep playing like that πŸ’ͺ. Anyway, it's great for them to be at the top of the table but we'll see what happens in the coming weeks ⏰.

just watched that match and gotta say Larne looked super sharp out there 🌟 they really showed Glentoran who's boss, especially after that pen was awarded ⚽️ what's crazy is how long they've been unbeaten now 15 games straight! πŸ’ͺ i'm loving the momentum they're building at the top of the league, can't wait to see what they do next 😁

idk why ppl think Larne is so overhyped tho πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ they got lucky with that penalty and glentoran was just having an off day πŸ˜’. carrick rangers dominated linfield but cant seem to close the deal, what's up wit dat? πŸ‘€ also cliftonville shouldnt be getting so much credit for gettin a draw against ballymena, joe gormley scored out of nowhere 🀯

man that larne team is on fire πŸ”₯ right now i mean they're playing some top notch football and it's clear they've got the squad depth and talent to maintain this lead at the top of the table. and glentoran just got hammered 🀯 4-1 is a pretty big margin, so kudos to larne for showing who's boss on the pitch. but at the same time gotta feel for glentoran - they've been having a tough season so far and that red card was a huge turning point in the game.

anyway, it's all about how these teams respond now with their respective wins and losses. linfield getting held to a 0-0 draw is definitely not what they wanted, but cliftonville salvaging a point at ballymena united shows there's still hope for them too. the irish premiership is heating up fast ⏰

idk about this larne team theyre so inconsistent rn πŸ€” they had that 4-1 win over glentoran but last season they were getting thrashed by everyone and now they're the ones at the top lol πŸ˜‚ but seriously, their form is pretty weird, sometimes they score loads of goals and sometimes they dont even get a chance to shoot πŸ³οΈβ€β™‚οΈ cant say im too impressed or anything πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

just seen this result and gotta say larne are lookin like the team to beat right now! they're playin like a well-oiled machine, all of their players seem to know where it's at. glentoran just didn't have enough firepower to compete with them, sadly for the glens fans 😐. on the other hand linfield got exactly what i expected from them - a bunch of half-chances and near misses πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. cant say i'm too worried about carrick rangers makin there way up the table though...

I'm loving this season of Irish Premiership so far! Larne's win over Glentoran was pure dominance, they played like a well-oiled machine 🀩. That penalty from Paul O'Neill was the turning point, it's moments like that which remind us why we love football πŸ†. Now, with these points, Larne are solidifying their position at the top and it's going to be tough for anyone to catch up πŸ‘Š. On a side note, Linfield can't seem to string together a win, but I'm keeping an eye on them, they've got some talent πŸ€”

🀩 I'm loving this win for Larne! It's amazing how they're dominating games like this. That penalty from O'Neill was so well taken 🎯 and it was nice to see them take control of the game quickly after Glentoran reduced their lead. The fact that they've now gone 15 games unbeaten is a testament to their strength as a team πŸ’ͺ. It's also interesting to see how different teams are performing in this league - Linfield's draw with Carrick Rangers was expected, but it's not great for their title hopes 😐. Meanwhile, Cliftonville's late equaliser was super exciting! Joe Gormley is really coming into his own as a player πŸ™Œ

πŸ† omg how dominant was larne tonight!! they were like totally unplayable 10 man glentoran just cant keep up 🀣 anyway thats why larne is still on top of the table and i'm loving every minute of it πŸ˜‚ also what's with all these red cards in irish premiership lol tony clarke shoulda known better πŸ™„

I'm telling ya, this new Premiership is so intense! 🀯 I was at my first match last season and now Larne's dominating it all! Their squad looks so stacked - who are these MJ Kamara and Chris Gallagher lads? Did they come from nowhere or what?! 😲 And that O'Neill guy's got some serious goalscoring skills, always finding the back of the net. It's crazy how far the Premiership has come, I mean, Linfield's already losing ground in the title race... those Blues just can't catch a break, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, nice win for Larne and they're solidifying that top spot! πŸ‘

I'm loving Larne's form right now 🀩 they're on fire! πŸ˜… I mean who wouldn't want to watch a team that's unbeaten in 15 games? πŸ’ͺ They've got some serious chemistry and it shows on the pitch. I think Glentoran had it coming for them though, they were getting dominated from start to finish πŸ˜‚ MJ Kamara handled the ball in the box and Larne still manages to score 4 goals? That's like a plot twist from a Netflix show πŸ“Ί!

man... i'm loving this irish premiership drama 🀩 larne is on fire right now and it's gonna be tough for anyone to catch up with them at the top of the table. glentoran had no chance against those invermen, 4-1 is a huge margin. linfield's result wasn't great though, they really dropped points that could've kept them in contention for the title. and cliftonville getting a late equaliser is always exciting to watch, joe gormley came off the bench and made all the difference πŸ’ͺ

Omg I'm literally beaming with joy for Larne!! 🀩 They're doing sooo well this season and it's amazing to see them on top of the table! I mean, four goals without even needing to resort to their full squad is a dream come true for any fan. And can we talk about MJ Kamara's handball? πŸ˜‚ That was just perfect timing for Larne's penalty kick. They're really showing off their skills and it's infectious! The whole team is doing so well together, I'm loving the vibe πŸ’–
