I'm not sure I agree with all this nostalgia for 80s new wave... like, I get it, Jenny Hollingworth's been experimenting and growing as an artist, but is it really necessary to lean so hard into the past? Can't she tap into something fresh and modern instead?
I mean, don't get me wrong, "Every Ounce of Me" is a banger, but is it really groundbreaking or just a rehashing of familiar emo-pop vibes? And what's with the obsession with Olivia Rodrigo and The Waterboys? Can't we give some love to newer artists who are pushing boundaries?
Quicksand Heart feels like a step forward for Hollingworth, sure, but is it a leap towards innovation or just a more refined version of the same old sound?
I'm totally loving this new direction Jenny is taking with Quicksand Heart! She's always been a bit of an experimentalist with Let's Eat Grandma, but it sounds like she's finally found her groove with this solo stuff. That song Every Ounce of Me though... the melody just sticks in your head and I love how it's got that Olivia Rodrigo vibe going on but still feels super Waterboys-esque at the same time. And Appetite is a total banger , it's like she's channeling all this nostalgia from the 80s new wave scene and bringing it to life with her own twist. It's really cool to see an artist grow and evolve like that – Quicksand Heart is definitely worth checking out!
I'm loving how Jenny Hollingworth is pushing past her Let's Eat Grandma days, it's like she's finally found her own sound on Quicksand Heart . I mean, don't get me wrong, Those Two Ribbons tracks were great and all, but there's something about the 80s new wave vibe that really brings out the emotions in her songs. Every Ounce of Me gives me chills, that melody is so infectious! And have you listened to Appetite? It's like she's bottled up the essence of 80s powerpop perfection...
OMG, I'm so here for Jenny Hollingworth's new album Quicksand Heart ! She's got this amazing ability to blend old-school vibes with modern sensibilities, making her sound super unique and fresh . The way she writes about grief and friendship is so raw and emotional, it'll totally resonate with anyone who's been through a tough breakup . And can we talk about the melodies? Every Ounce of Me is giving me Olivia Rodrigo vibes, but also a little bit of The Waterboys' magic . Hollingworth's got this effortless way of crafting songs that feel both super personal and totally universal - it's like she's tapping into something bigger than herself . Quicksand Heart is definitely going on my playlist ASAP!
idk what's so great about this Quicksand Heart album ... sounds like jenny hollingworth is just rehashing her influences from 10+ years ago, but hey, if it's catchy and stuff ... i do love how she blends different styles, it's def not your average pop music . every ounce of me tho... that melody tho . like, how did she even come up with that? it's so infectious! but, still, gotta wonder if this album is just a nostalgic throwback or something more . source me some info on her creative process pls!
