Jess Cartner-Morley's January style essentials: from posh slippers to French-Girl hairpins

January birthstones r so overrated lol! I mean, garnet is just a red stone like every other birthstone what makes it special? And leather ballet shoes are so basic... can't they come up with something more unique? Like a pair of shoes that changes color with the seasons or somethin 🤪. And Monica Vinader sounds like a posh brand for posh people... where's the diversity? I need to see more affordable options and some edgy designs, you feel me? This is just the same old boring gift ideas we get every year 🙄. Give me something that makes a statement, ya know?

I'm not sure about all this fuss over gift ideas for birthdays in January 🤔. I mean, why should we limit ourselves to only certain months when it comes to celebration? Can't you just throw a party whenever you feel like it and not care about the calendar?

That being said, I do think those leather ballet shoes from The White Company look pretty cool 👠. And garnet is a beautiful stone - I can see why Monica Vinader would want to feature it in their designs. But for me, gifts are supposed to be thoughtful and personal, not just something to fill the air with trendy talk 📣.

I also think we've lost sight of what's really important here - showing love and appreciation for someone on their birthday, regardless of the month. Not about some arbitrary stone or fashion item that's "on trend" this year 💎. A good gift is one that comes from the heart, not just something to impress your friends 👫.

A Jan birthstone chain necklace is so cool! 💎 I love how the garnet represents passion, protection & prosperity - it's like a big hug in stone form! 😊

But, let me draw a quick mind map to visualize my thoughts 📝

I think both gifts are awesome, but the leather ballet shoes are also a great option - who doesn't love a good pair of shoes?! 😄

January birthdays, huh? Well, I think it's kinda weird to associate garnet with passion and protection... I mean, isn't that more like rubies or something? Garnet is just a pretty stone, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't exactly scream "passion" to me.

And leather ballet shoes from The White Company sound lovely, though. They're comfy and stylish - what's not to love? I've seen those shoes in person, they're so soft and elegant. Maybe they should do a collaboration with a popular shoe brand... that'd be fire 🚀.

But let's get back to the birthstones thing... aren't there rules about which stones are associated with each month? Like, sapphires are for May or something? I'm no expert, but I thought there were some kinda tradition behind this stuff.

January birthdays 🎉 are often associated with winter vibes, so it's cool to see some gift ideas that fit the season. I'm not a big fan of traditional birthstone gifts, but this garnet necklace from Monica Vinader looks really sleek and modern 💎. The fact that garnet symbolizes passion, protection, and prosperity is nice touch - it's like giving the gift of positivity and good fortune.

The leather ballet shoes from The White Company are super on trend right now 👠. They're comfy, stylish, and can be dressed up or down which makes them a great versatile gift. I think what sets these gifts apart is that they're not just pretty things to look at - they've got thought behind them too. A gift like this says "I care about you" without needing a bunch of extra words 🤗.

Ugh, gift ideas in the middle of winter? Can't they think about something more exciting than birthstones and leather shoes? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, isn't it too late to get a new bike or something? But noooo, they're stuck with garnet and ballet flats... 😒 At least the second one sounds comfy though. Leather shoes are always a good idea. And who doesn't love a stylish present for their birthday? 🎁 I guess it's better than getting socks or something (no offense to sock lovers). The only thing that's missing is some fun experience-based gift, like tickets to a concert or a fun activity... 💥
